Goblins, Worgens New Playable Races?Jul 18th, 2009 at 8:20 AM by Togikagi

Datamining of patch 3.2 has revealed that four new Halloween masks have been added to the game, and they are for male and female goblins and worgens. While this may simply mean Blizzard is trying to spice up the holiday, others users think it means something more. Handclaw over at Scrolls of Lore suggested it means they'll be the new playable races for the expansion, and Boubouille of MMO-Champion stated it with almost certainty. Shojindo started a thread on the topic in our general forum and it's already full of opinions. Our very own fewyn chimed in on the discussion and said both races seemed highly plausible to him. So what do you think? Is Blizzard giving us a hint of things to come, or are they just some new masks?

If they do make these two playable races. My guess would be goblins for the horde would be their first short race, and same for alliance worgen would be the first animalistic type of toon. so it will deffentatly be interesting to see what way they go with it.:)

I guess this too that Goblin is Hordes first small / short race and Worgen is Alliance first beast / animal like race since Horde already have beast / animal like Orcs, Trolls and Taurens.

I agree, though I don't believe they're thinking in as general terms as "animal/beast" (which by your definition, pretty much every Horde race save Blood Elves would fall under, though the way you're describing it I think you're thinking more of "monsters" than "beasts")...

I think it's fairly obvious that they'd be going for an even trade: the shortness of Goblins for Horde in direct relation to the Alliance's existing Gnomes, and the distinctly anthro Worgen in direct relation to the only current truly anthro race, the Horde's Tauren.

That's IF these are actually new races, of course, which I am hesitant to guess at either way.

Kinda sucks that if these are the new races, the Alliance will almost certainly get the Worgen (due to reasons stated)... I'd love to try a Worgen, but I'm Horde for life. At least I'll always have the Tauren, because I still love those big cuddly cows to death!
