Naxxramas And World Latency Fixes

We've gotten word from the folks at Blizzard about their awareness of latency issues both in the world servers and in Naxx. The following is an email we received that we thought we'd share with you all.

Hello, everyone:

Please be aware of the following post that we have made this morning in regard to reports of latency in Naxxramas and the world.  Your help in spreading the information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Naxxramas and World Latency Fixes

For the last several weeks, our players have been experiencing periodic latency in both outdoor Northrend areas and Naxxramas, and we wanted to provide you with several updates on what we're doing to resolve these issues. As many players have discovered, the outdoor Northrend latency has been tied to activity in Wintergrasp. We are actively working on a server-side fix that should address the high latency experienced in the outdoor world when Wintergrasp is active. This fix is currently in testing on internal test realms and we anticipate that we'll be able to push it to live realms in the near future. Concerning Naxxramas, optimizations are being made that will address both the latency and disconnection issues affecting players while in that zone. These optimizations will be included with the next minor content patch.

We appreciate your patience as we work to address these issues.

I know this question isn't what this thread is about but how do you make your game run higher fps? Yes, I'm not as computer literate as most but I try to learn as much as possible. Thanks in advance.

Hey I suppose I should mention; Me and my friends all have different hardware. For WOW the best piece to upgrade is your Processor. My friend had a weaker Video card than me and a way better processor and he had WAY better frames per second. It may sound unorthodox but this is the only video game I really play and I am a hardware nut and I crave better frames/sec to a degree that is unnatural and this is not theoretical I've seen the difference first hand.

for the record it went down kinda like this.

Intel E8500 VS Athlon X2 4200

7800 GT vid card VS 7950 GT OC

3.25 (ish) Gb RAM VS 2 Gb RAM

MAX graphic settings VS prett conservative settings

40(ish) MINIMUM FPS(in Shatt) VS 30(ish) MAXIMUM FPS in Shatt

when WOTLK came out with the new shadows, the gap widened even more. But the Core 2 Duo Intel processors eat this game alive..

By far, the quickest, easiest and probably cheapest fix to increase fps is to bump up your RAM. After that, a better, faster video card will help and thirdly a faster processor and motherboard. Going from 512MB or 1GB of RAM to 2GB will give you an immediate improvement. Also if your video card isn't the greatest, drop down your video settings in the game.

I agree... updating your hardware (as a buddy of mine just recently did) helps tons. I'm running 3GB RAM (with plans to max out at 4 soon after tax season) and a 512MB graphics card. But even then, I've had FPS as low as 3 or 4 at times, especially in Northrend zones. Sometimes, there's just to much lag :)

I'm guessing big expansive open areas. With the new sight distance having been increased +/- ten fold you can see a lot more things in a straight view in these areas. More than others that have more rolling terrain.

How about you fix the issues with the mist around certain areas, (i.e. Borean Tundra, VH, etc.) The mist kills everyone's FPS I usually run 45-60fps and when I get into mist it drops to 18fps.

The mist isn't game breaking. 5 seconds between cast times on Thaddius and not knowing your polarity until those 5 seconds are up IS gamebreaking.

Some odd reason, I run 59.9 to 60.1 FPS everywhere, except for a few areas...

Dalaran (go figure)
Hellfire Peninsula (even on non-peak hours, I _always_ get 29-30 FPS, always).
Mist Areas in Borean as he said above, again, 29-30 FPS

And a few others that escape my mind.

Now, honestly I wonder... what do Hellfire Peninsula and Borean have in common?
