Guide Program Celebrates 10 Years: Congratulations

Most of us remember them. Our only hope if we got stuck in a zone wall, or somehow summoned our corpse under a hill, and a host of other issues that would take forever to get a GM to help with. The Guides . They're celebrating 10 years of service to the EQ franchises, and I just want to say THANK YOU!

10 years ago, while EverQuest was in beta, a group of volunteers came together. These volunteers selflessly gave their time to helping players in EQ with customer service issues and spent time participating in impromptu quests to bring more enjoyment to the game. The volunteers were known then, as well as now, as Guides. Guides started out making appearances in EverQuest and grew into EverQuest II.

Over the years the program has evolved from guides helping with customer service issues full time and impromptu questing to questing full time and helping with very minor customer service things on a part time basis. Whatever the guides' roles have been throughout the last 10 years, without their selfless giving of time and their tireless efforts, the games would not have been the same. Guides, on behalf of all the SOE game connoisseurs, SOE Customer Service personnel and especially the SOE Community Relations team, we thank you for all you do!

Look back on the program and what they did, with 2 retired Guides.

EQ: Into the Depths of: The Desert of Ro

EQPlayers has a look at Ro.  The history, the characters, the constant sun and sand in your boots!!  Ah, I can feel it now!  SG to docks!
The Northern Desert of Ro is a vast and deadly desert that lies just beyond the eastern gates of Freeport. Several inns and a few of Lucan's militia can be found with the last, desperate reaches of temperate vegetation carpeting the flat of land just before the rise of the desert dunes. A tunnel carved into the steep ridge bordering the desert to the west, connects the desert to the Commonlands.

To the south, one will meet the sands of the Oasis of Marr, which separates the northern and southern reaches of the Ro desert. Legends speak that what is now the northern Desert of Ro was once the northern reaches of the ancient Elddar forest – the former home of the elves who had once resided upon Antonica, then called Tunaria. This forest was said to have been the most beautiful woodland Norrath has ever seen Spanning the whole of what is now the desert of Ro and Oasis of Marr, this forest is said to have been burned to the ground by the fiery wrath of Solusek Ro.
Ah, the memories!  If you miss the sweet call of SG to Docks, the visage of Lockjaw's massive body dragging across the ground, or constant corpse runs because Dorn just won't die, check out SOE's Living Legacy offering for ex-players!
