E3 2015: Rocket League is Buckets of Fun

Cross. Platform. Play. I was ecstatic upon learning that Rocket League at this year's E3 had that capability, even with control differences of a mouse/keyboard and a PS4 controller. The sequel to Supersonic Acrobat Rocket-Powered Battlecars, the team at Psyonix sharpened their skills to deliver Rocket League, a tighter game with a much shorter name. In short, it's soccer (or football, depending where you're at) with cars. The goal: scoring a goal by hitting the ball with your car. There's no announcer screaming out an elongated "goal," and we doubt that there would be any national upsets over team bouts in your living room, so rest assured that when your car scores the winning goal over a heated match of epic proportions, you can sleep soundly at night.

E3: Sword Coast Legends Dungeon Master Mode

Sword Coast Legends, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons RPG based in the Forgotten Realms, has been turning heads with the list of promising features that developer n-Space has presented. Along with the promise of a massive storyline and challenging gameplay, the game will also support multiplayer as well as a Dungeon Master (DM) Mode. We got to sit in on a preview of the DM mode and participated in the resulting dungeon run last week at E3.

El Presidente on the PS4: Tropico 5 Review

Tropico 5 released on the PC in May 2014 and since then has been slowly rolling out onto consoles, with the latest being Tuesday's upcoming PlayStation 4 launch. Here's a quick summary of the game for those that haven't tried their hand at it yet.

You play as a dictator leading the island nation of Tropico, expanding your Dynasty and taking both a political and economic foothold, all while trying to keep the stronger world powers from becoming angry and decimating your lands. Build up your town, explore the island, claim resources, engage in sea trade, and attract voters to keep your reign. Research new technologies, establish a constitution to setup how you wish to rule and perform missions to earn rewards or prestige. Multiplayer breathed new life into the Tropico franchise as you compete head-to-head or go co-op while striving to make El Presidente's dynasty the greatest.

PlanetSide 2: PlayStation 4 Beta Impressions

Ladies and gentlemen, I come before you an honest individual prefacing this examination for the closed beta of PlanetSide 2 on the PlayStation 4: I'm biased. Years of playing different games on a range of consoles have led me to prefer a particular setup when I run first-person shooters. I'm not going to touch PC/console wars by any stretch, but I'll admit when I play on console, genre of preference is definitely not first-person shooter.

Rocket League: Interview With Thomas Silloway

Rocket League is an upcoming physics-based sports game that will premiere on the PlayStation 4 later this year. We recently had a Q&A with Psyonix's Project Lead, Thomas Silloway, about the game, its features and the upcoming PS4 beta.

For those who didn’t play Rocket League’s predecessor, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars, could you explain what kind of gameplay this title will offer?

"Sure! Rocket League is actually a pretty simple concept: Football (soccer) meets motorsports. All the same rules of traditional soccer apply in Rocket League, of course, except we're using vehicles instead of people -- and each one of those Battle-Cars has a high-powered, supersonic rocket engine strapped to their rear-end.

"Our game is also heavily reliant on realistic physics, which makes position and speed an important factor in how you play. We've also given our vehicles the ability to jump, which allows players to do bicycle kicks with two tons of aluminum and steel. All in all, we think it's pretty cool."

Project Morpheus Coming to the PS4 in 2016

VR is kicking up a lot of chatter at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC). SCE has joined in the action by revealing their latest prototype for Project Morpheus, as well as announcing that the VR headset is slated to launch in the first half of 2016.
