Scrolls: Major Price Drop Coming Soon

Mojang announced late last week that its collectible card game, Scrolls, will be lowered in price from $21 to $5. The change comes about due to the upcoming tablet release of the game.

"Our current price of $21 isn’t feasible for tablets. As you probably already know, games are cheap on those things. Free-to-play would be an option, but we’re not keen on the way that that form of monetisation can affect gameplay."

Microsoft Purchases Mojang for $2.5 Billion

Mojang and Microsoft confirmed this morning that Mojang, which includes hit game Minecraft, has been purchased for a cool $2.5 billion. According to Mojang's blog:

Yes, the deal is real. Mojang is being bought by Microsoft.

There are only a handful of potential buyers with the resources to grow Minecraft on a scale that it deserves. We’ve worked closely with Microsoft since 2012, and have been impressed by their continued dedication to our game and its development. We’re confident that Minecraft will continue to grow in an awesome way.

Microsoft acquired Mojang for a smooth 2.5 BILLION dollars.

Minecraft: Now Available on PS4

Minecraft is everywhere. Merchandise of every kind. Discussed in every corner of gaming. On a whim I searched for "Minecraft movie," and there's one in the works. In an effort to reach every possible gamer, Minecraft is available to play on PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

PlayStation Vita is coming in a few weeks. Xbox One is here tomorrow. PlayStation 4 is here today.

Minecraft Realms: Official Server Service

Minecraft has a massive community with a huge market for server hosting. As an alternative to unofficial sources, Mojang is now offering worldwide official servers with Minecraft Realms. With a cost between $10-$13/month and 10 maximum players (20 whitelisted), there are more thrifty deals out there. This is a great option for players who want the easiest possible server experience.

Mojang Temporarily Suspends Its Services

Minecraft developer Mojang has temporarily suspended its services after an exploit was discovered in the software used by Amazon's load balancing service. The company cannot guarantee whether or not information was compromised and recommends changing your Mojang/Minecraft passwords.

MineCon 2011 Coverage in Las Vegas

MineCon was held this past weekend in Las Vegas with all the Notch and Mojang you can shake a pick at! ZAM's newest Staff Writer Mike aka Krelumian was in attendence, and he got a chance to see all the gaming goodness Mojang had to offer.
