EVE Online: Fanfest Keynote Highlights

EVE Online's keynote address was this afternoon, with news focused on EVE's update structure, an art book, new download options and account security.

The shift to many smaller updates worked well for CCP, so the team will continue their focus on updating roughly every five weeks. The larger updates will still be named, and focus will be on features. A new site, updates.eveonline.com, is now up to keep track of update news and progress.

At 11am ET tomorrow, the Limited Edition of a new EVE concept art book will go on sale for $89.

EVE Online: Fanfest 2014 Schedule Released

With another year comes another incredible Fanfest.

Each year, fans of EVE Online and the EVE universe gather to celebrate the home they've created. This year's event is only a week away, from May 1 - 3. To help you plan ahead, CCP Games just put out a blog post detailing the festivities. In addition to the huge array of panels and presentations, there are special events occurring throughout the week:

World of Darkness Development Halted by CCP

CCP Games has announced that they have cancelled the World of Darkness MMO project in development in their Atlanta, GA studio. As a result, 56 employees from this studio have lost their jobs, with some being offered roles on other projects while others were provided severance packages and job placement assistance by CCP. Focus at the Atlanta studio will now shift to the EVE Universe, marking the first time in eight years that the entire company has focused on working on a single franchise.

EVE Vegas: the largest fan-organized EVE Online gathering of the year, and a great opportunity to talk one-on-one with the developers from CCP Games. As a result, I had a chance to interview David Reid, the man whose decisions shape our perception of gaming's most enigmatic journey.
