The Sims Online - The Finale

Back in 2002, I was not a gamer. Seriously, I wasn't. I didn't consider what I did as gaming. At the time, I was playing Diablo II with my family and a couple of friends, and enjoying learning a new form of entertainment. Anything else was not even a thought to me... I was happy with what I was doing.

But then, I saw this advertisement for The Sims Online and beta testing. Now, I had played The Sims, and The Sims 2000. And I thought, "How cool!", so I signed up. A few weeks later, I received my beta CDs in the mail and loaded the program. I was instantly mesmerized by this new world, where things were colorful and inviting! And, to top it off... I could have green hair!!! Oh this was heaven for me!

So I created my very first Sim, and named her Mags. She had green hair and wore a green dress, and had green shoes, and was green... as far as gamers go. I had no idea what I was doing! Wandering around, checking out homes, wondering what everyone was doing. In the early days, houses could have all of the items for money or skills under one roof, and not have to specialize by category. And stores? They didn't exist. We all had our catalogues and that's where we purchased our items. And this was beta, so naturally we had some fun bugs to play with! One of my favorites was the Buffet Bug. For those of you that don't remember... the buffets were bugged - literally. You could not clean them, and so they gathered flies and dropped our room scores. And you couldn't pick them up to delete them or sell them! So we had at times 6 - 8 buffet tables stacked in a closed off room at the back of the house just waiting for the bug to get fixed!

Being a beta tester, we were always aware that what we achieved would not necessarily be what we ended up with. In fact, we all knew that the chance of us losing our homes, our money, our skills, and our identities was a distinct possibility. So it was with great regret that we suffered through The Great Wipe in November 2002, just before launch. But many of us found each other again and rebuilt what we could; all the while laughing at how much fun we'd had so far.

Last night we held our Awards Ceremony in our EA-Land Contest Giveaway at the Allakhazam Awards house!

It was all glitz and glamour as we invited our contestants to a before-party at the home. This gave our contestants time to get to know each other and wish each other well. Shortly before opening to the general public, Parizad arrived to greet our guests.

Precisely at 4:00pm PDT / 7:00pm EDT, the doors opened to the public, and we were flooded with guests at the front door! Everyone wanted an opportunity to get in and watch the awards show. We quickly filled up, and I had to soon find more seating from other parts of the house! Eventually we got everyone in and started the show.

The Contest Ends... With a Fright!

Yesterday we visited Haunted Forest Manor, the final home in our EA-Land Contest Giveaway!

With frightening images throughout, not to mention the memory of those who have died before us haunting the grounds of the home, this home provided us with much to be wary of! The evening started off with some horrifying tricks of the eye, causing what appeared to be the death of one of our guests! We then proceeded to hear the tale of Pandora, while watching her ghost appear before our very eyes!

The evening ended with a seance around the campfires, and everyone working together to reach "the other side" in hopes of making contact! With the frightening visages of horror stories of the past surrounding us, it was indead a wonderfully freaky evening!

The Final Property is Visited!

The final property in our EA-Land Giveaway Contest will be visited today by Parizad.  If you wish to tag along, here are the details:

  • 4:30pm PDT / 7:30pm EDT - Haunted Forest Manor, owned by Frankenstein!

Be sure to join us, and keep an eye out for the Awards Ceremony announcement, so that you can attend and see who won!

We look forward to seeing you in-game!

One of the Final Homes Visited!

Yesterday we visited one of our final homes, The Matchmaker Heaven!

The scene was all pink and whites, and unlike most "love" homes, this was not a place designed strictly for hooking up with the hottie you've been eyeing... there was fun and games also to be had! Zeltex, the owner of this lovely home, provided us with a fun drinking contest, and shared in some laughs with Parizad exchanging gifts and niceties.

All in all, I think everyone had a great time while we were there, and we thank you for joining us!
