That sounds more interesting. I'm only really operating off random comments and "spoilers" from a dozen other sites.

Legends of Tomorrow: Probably the only show that can make an episode where Elvis Presley can summon the dead with his magic guitar and have a funeral for a pet rat in the same episode and make it work. Praise Beebo.

Nicholas Cage, yes that Cage, will be voicing Superman in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. Now I have got to see this.

The plot is that whoever solves the quest first gets to own the OASIS. Which is not only dragon killing and visiting Tron World but also most people's venue for shopping, socializing and even education (the government issues free cheapie VR rigs so students can attend virtual school). Credits in the OASIS are easily transferred into real world cash. Owning control of it would be a Very Big Deal and, of course, the whole "Those guys are going to make it all corporate", etc. Naturally the bad guys in the book are mustache-twirlingly evil dudes just in case you're not sure who to root for.

For all I know, the movie distills this down to "They want to use Munchichis to sell Coca-Cola, the horrors!".

It'd be a little amusing to see the Monchichis and the Polar Bears fight over the right to be Coca-Cola's mascot, though.

Annabella Sciorra has been cast as Rosalie Carbone in Luke Cage's second season. She's kind of a minor character from the Punisher books, so I'm speculating that's where we see Bernthal's Punisher next. Also, apparently Brie Larson's Captain Marvel won't be in the next Avengers movie, but she is confirmed for the Avengers after that.

Right now most websites are flooding their pages with articles about Avengers Infinity War and I am avoiding the hell out of them. I don't get annoyed by spoilers, but it's not like I'm going to actively seek them out either.

I try to avoid posting multiple trailers, but I think Avengers Infinity War warrants it. There are a few subtle Easter Eggs here that I have a stupid grin on my face.

SHIELD: Best part of the episode... Coulson: "Hey, Mack Hammer.... Can't Touch This."

Saw Black Panther finally today. It seemed pretty good for an origin story. Only real problem I saw was when the little sister decided that she'd fight the guy wearing the kinetic energy absorbing suit she herself made... using weapons that created some sort of sonic or energy wave.

Edit:
Turin, is that still you playing FFXIV on Ultros I see occasionally? Only like... 2 or 3 people in TINFS Linkshell actually still play, and never talk (maybe even on other servers, transfered long ago). But I see Turin from my old Friendlist still running around on occasion.

Freeform's Cloak & Dagger gets a full trailer, though I thought the last one was the trailer but I guess it was a clip of the first episode or something. I like what I'm seeing, but it is a trailer and I'm not the target demographic so who knows.

Yeah, I thought it was good for an origin film. Did what it needed to do. Honestly, I had two major issues with it.

1. It suffered from a bit of the "history started 5 minutes ago" trope. How on earth has a society in which there is one king (with apparently absolute power), and in which said king is determined by ritual combat by any "noble" (presumably only the tribal leaders could challenge) who wants to take the title, not run into this exact issue dozens of times over the presumably multi-thousand year history of the kingdom? You'd think they would have had issues with despotic warlords taking over so many times in the past that they'd almost have to had established some sort of ruling council, or (heaven forbid) democratic process, to provide a check against exactly the sort of problem which was the primary plot point of the film. It kinda felt like they were trying to do this whole "alternative to western concepts of republics" bit, to highlight that this is an ancient African nation that somehow makes the idea of the "noble king" work. But all they really accomplished was to highlight exactly why that form of government is a bad idea(tm). They might as well have had some form of farcical aquatic ceremony involved in the granting of supreme executive power (hah. Well...).

2. They seemed to want to show that Wakanda was "traditional" and "tribal", um.. but who got relegated to living in huts and growing crops by hand, and who got to live in the fancy city? Are we actually to believe that people who have lived as citizens of this highly advanced civilization are just so much in love of the land that they'll willingly choose to do this sort of thing? Seemed like there was a pretty huge "haves and have-nots" scenario going on there (maybe, or just not explained). Dunno. It just seemed a bit jarring to me. Again, I get the concept of holding onto traditional ways of living, but this just seemed a bit extreme. To be fair though, this bothered me a lot less than it would otherwise. It's Marvel, after all. It's not like they ever bothered to explain who grew the food in Asgard either. Or, frankly, any other presumably advanced society. As a friend of mine put it: "In every utopia, someone has to clean the toilets" (which, I guess, just kinda highlights the idea that utopias aren't).

All in all though, it was a fun film. I'm still a bit peeved that they aren't making a more clear explanation of vibranium, just hand waving it as "the strongest metal on Earth" (which is not actually what it's supposed to be). I get it though: to much to explain to an audience, and not really necessary for the stories they need to tell. But explaining what vibranium actually is would have gone a lot further towards making all of the odd properties of the metal (that are actually used in the story to some degree), make more sense. Still, it worked. The tech was awesome. Acting was good. It was a fairly simple story, but was told well.

It's not, strictly speaking, necessary to watch to follow the MCU storyline. But still worth it IMO.

I really liked Michael B Jordan's character (and his acting) in the movie. And am disappointed that he won't be coming back.

Krypton starts tomorrow at 10pm on ScyFy (According to my cable box at least, commercials I saw during Legends still said "Coming Soon" instead of a date). Right after Magicians. Also X-Files season finale too.

Still liking Magicians. And still only on Episode 10 or so of Jessica Jones. Season 2 suffers from a lack of David Tennant. And I'm not sure I've liked it much. The Trish character, and the focus on her, has annoyed me.

Work has calmed down a bit, so I think I'm going to be able to see movies again. I really want to watch the second Pacific Rim movie. I watched the first one when it came out on DVD/BluRay. And liked it a lot. There's a few movies I didn't get to see that I had planned on, and at least it's calmed down so I can watch the upcoming comic book movies.

I do want to watch Rampage. But not enough to go to the movies to do so... that's another one like 2012 and what not. Seems like FX Movie night.

I think the only person I didn't enjoy in Black Panther was Forrest Whitaker's character. Not that he was bad or anything, just that pretty much everyone was that much more solid. And they'll never explain Vibranium for the same reason they'll never explain the Speed Force or Pym Particles. It's never solidly defined to begin with and just does whatever the plot needs.

If I had to choose between Pacific Rim and Rampage I'd go with Rampage because looks stupid enough to be fun, while Pacific Rim is just Gundam and I've never been a huge fan of mecha anime.

Deadpool 2 has too many contradictory "test viewing reviews" and reports on what the reshoots are about for me to trust as an opening weekend watch, so I am probably going to wait. Avengers on the other hand, I've already pre-ordered my tickets, which is good since they're sold out in all the theaters I frequent.

Pacific Rim, less Gundam, more Evangelion vs Godzilla.

I really thought Rampage was going to be an extension of the Kong: Skull Island universe when I saw the trailer in the theaters. And speaking of the not-that-successful cinematic universe attempts.... I wonder if Tom Cruise's Mummy movie Universe attempt was successful. If they'll continue those stories and make more movies.

Part of me wants to watch the Supernatural + Scooby Doo crossover. I've never watched an episode of Supernatural, but the commercials make me want to watch that episode.

I thought about watching Krypton, but I'm about tired of shows with photogenic twenty something actors that were picked more for their looks than talent. Maybe I'm wrong and some of them are decent actors, but from what I've seen of the show, I doubt it.

I think its TNT that marathons episodes during the day, so I watch that when there isn't a Monk marathon on a different channel. It's an okay show but I just don't really see how it got as big as it did and lasted as long. Then again, some of the sillier episodes are in my lane so I can't really complain either. I'll watch the Scooby episode for certain.
Turin wrote:

I just finished watching it. For a pilot it isn't the worst thing I've seen, but it feels like it's just a bunch of generic cliches thrown together with a light Superman-esque paint job. Like, you could mistake it for a medieval drama if you weren't paying close attention. Goyer seems to really hate comic books. Or originality. It was watchable mostly because there was nothing else to watch at the time.

Craig Parker, who I read was on Lord of the Rings, cast on Agents of SHIELD as Taryan, a "formidable alien." Appears to be an Original Character Donut Steele, so who knows.

Second Deadpool trailer. More plot, less just scenes thrown together. Looks like Cable is the antagonist, and Terry Crews is Jesse "Bedlam" Aaronson. Still not sure if it's opening weekend, but still a probable trip to the theater to see movie. Like ... second week.

The DP2 trailer had me laughing more than I do at most comedies, so that's a good sign.

Also, Chris Evans confirming that the next Avengers movie will be his last more or less tells you that Cap isn't dying until at least the next one. Whoever had Captain America on their deadpool might want to change it.

SHIELD: Hail Hydra! -_-

Ash: Still fun. Baby-Ash with the demon chainsaw hand. Glad he got to use it to cut through the door and the woman's shoulder. Crawling up inside the woman and using her headless body as a Mecha-Armor thing. Was waiting for the police woman at the end to notice the demon chainsaw hand. Kid kept it hidden though.

Walking Dead: I'm pretty sure back in season 1, Shane cut himself with the knife that he just used to stab a dozen walkers in the head with. While trapped on a bus on a military base or something. Talking Dead made some comments about it, and they decided that the blood wouldn't infect them. Also drenching themselves in walker-guts at times, not caring about it getting in mouths, eyes, wounds, etc.

Now, a bit of walker-blood contaminated cuts and they are getting fevers and turning. I knew I was going to hate it as soon as Negan was coating Lucille in guts a couple episodes ago. I didn't watch Talking Dead to see if anyone complained about it.

Watched the sneak peak of The Terror. I'll probably tune into it tomorrow for the full two hour premiere. Previews made it seem supernatural or something, and with Ridley Scott I'd expect something weird about it. But so far it seems just a period piece about two ships stuck frozen in the ice in the northern passage.

Ash vs Evil Dead finds new ways to be amazing and I hope it never ends. Haven't watched Walking Dead yet, mainly because my DVR decided to make this episode a two hour special and record The Terror as well and I don't really have the will to deal with that at the moment. AoS watching Fitz go Full Psycho is great ... mostly because he's torturing Mary Sue Poots and I am all for that. Even if she's hot, I still haven't connected with the character.

Lewis Tan, who is in both Iron Fist and Into the Badlands, confirmed he'll be Shatterstar in Deadpool 2. He's from the stack of 90s characters Leifeld created, so expect lots of sharp objects and "attitude."

Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, and Clark Gregg's characters are all returning to the big screen for Captain Marvel. That's Korath ("Who?" from Guardians of the Galaxy), Ronan (also Guardians of the Galaxy), and obviously Son of Coul (Agents of SHIELD). Along with Samuel Mudda Fuggin' L Jackson as Nick Mudda Fuggin' Fury.

Unrelated, but sometimes anime dubbing is just ... great.

The Terror: I watched the second half of the two hour premiere last night, after they snuck the first half in at the end of a 2 hour "Walking Dead" episode (AMC's "Watch this, Please!" tactics are a bit annoying). So far, nothing all that supernatural. Lots of drama between the two captains of the two stuck ships. A little tiny bit of maybe supernatural showing up Some Eskimos show up, and one of them seems to have been a spiritual leader. And there is a giant polar bear, much larger than would be considered natural. Linked to the Eskimos somehow. Can't tell if it will be extra-ordinary stuff, or if it will be like Moby **** and the possibility that all these Englishmen are going to go crazy and imagine things bigger than they really are.

AMCs aggressive advertising campaigns and commercial heavy schedules really annoy me though. To the point where I almost want to stop watching their channel.

You know, it felt like there was an unnatural amount of commercials. Also that children are horribly stupid during zombie apocalypses apparently. Coral kept leaving the house and getting himself shot and hurt, the two psycho girls and the asthma kid in prison, that one kid that was screaming MOMMY in the middle of a zombie crowd, now the little Kingdom kid who unlocked a chainlink fence to get a better shot at getting himself killed. Smiley: disappointed

Fox's New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix have been moved back (again). Phoenix to February 2019, and Mutants to August 2019. That's like more than a year since originally slated.

Looks like FX has cut the animated Deadpool 'toon, and if you look at Donald Glover's twitter he. Is. Pissed about it. To the point he wrote a fifteen page ragescript tearing to show his dissatisfaction. The script itself would make a horrible show, but the context definitely elevates it.

Robert Downey Jr and Tom Holland will reunite after the Avengers movie to remake the Voyages of Dr Dolittle, along with a pretty stellar cast of voices. Now, a part of me understands the original is a book from the 1920s, and the movie was in the '60s so most people are simply too young, but I have still seen more than a number of instances where people are complaining about whitewashing that it makes me giggle. Except the ones demanding Kevin Hart. Can't stand him as an actor. Comedian he's okay, but his typecast character he plays in every movie is just worn out.

Brie Larson dressed as Carol Danvers dressed as Joey Lawrence for Captain Marvel.

Scooby Doo episode of Supernatural tonight. I haven't watched the show since ... when did Dean have the Mark of Cain removed and it turned into a little girl? About since there. Don't care, obligatory cartoon and musical episodes are (almost) always watching in my opinion.

My cable box says Scooby Do episode of Supernatural is tonight (not last night) but I didn't actually check last night until about 10pm when I was finished watching Magicians.

Krypton... I only paid attention to about 20 minutes of the episode, and still felt like I completely understood what happened during the episode (which was not much...)

Legion next week Tuesday.

And yesterday I get an email at the end of the day at work informing me that I have a hotel reservation for someplace halfway across the country next week Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Nice that my employer asks me before scheduling an unpaid overtime (joys of salaried exempt) out of town trip... Not sure if it's sadder that they assume I have no life and can travel at a moments notice, or that I actually do have no life and can travel at a moments notice. (I have been sent to Mexico before, finding out about 5 hours before my flight leaves. Rushing home to pack and get my passport before hoping in a taxi to the airport.) At least they've given me 13-15% bonuses the last few years, plus 5-7% raises. I hate having to watch TV on crappy hotel cable (if you could even call it cable).

Edit:
Scooby Doo episode wasn't bad. And if the episode is any sort of indication of the series as a whole, I'm sure I'd like it. Too bad it's like.. 13 seasons already. Not even going to try to catch up on that.

Edit 2: And there was a commercial for the next episode of Legends. It sounds like it will be a blast. Grodd goes back in time and targets Obama. Miss Lance: "We're on Obama-Care."

I'm not even sure why I thought it was the other night. I think maybe I was scrolling through the guide and just lost track of what day I was on? Either way, that was absolutely great. Completely off the wall. the Scrappy Doo cameo was completely out of left field.

Stephen Glover, collaborator on the animated Deadpool and Donald Glover's brother, has told TheWrap that “There definitely was a Taylor Swift episode. It was HILARIOUS. And it was definitely the last straw lol. [...] Our show wasn’t too black. It wasn’t really that black at all. But we definitely wanted to give ‘Rick and Morty’ a run for their money and I think we would have. Proud of the gang.” If that's the case, then I'm okay with the show being cancelled. Not a fan of lolrandumb.

Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events is out on Netflix now. More NPH fun.

Edit:
Also... "Reboot" was re-imagined and released on Netflix. "Reboot: The Guardian Code". And it is.... Bad. Completely misses the feel of the of the original series. "The interwebs is in trouble. We have to recruit teenagers with attitude." This one popped up on me unaware. But looking into it now it seems that it has been pretty much universally hated. And been compared to a show I only have a passing knowledge of, "Code Lyoko" which fits this new show pretty well, and is not at all what I want out of a Reboot reboot.

Final Space has been unexpectedly serious story driven (and some decent music choices for at least one serious event so far). I was expecting something like Rick and Morty, just some comedy, loosely linked episodes, maybe a story event here or there. But so far it's been episodes linked directly by a continuing story with some comedic happenings during them. The more I hear David Tennant's character, the more I can hear his voice. Still not sure if I'd guess it was him without being told though. I know very little if anything about the show creator, Olan Rogers, other than what has been stated in the 30-60 second bits in the post credits after each episode. He kind of reminds me of Wil Wheaton. Seems like he'd fit right in with that crowd.

Edit:

These aired on Disney XD today: Grunkle Stan's voice actor singing butchered versions of a couple series' opening themes.
