We like to call them doctors: those who reach the pinnacle of knowledge without any of the common sense.

I have enough respect for SPG to give him the benefit of the doubt but, generally speaking, "triggered" is one of those "I can safely ignore you now" words. It's the 2017 version of "Looks like I touched a nerve!!!" which went out of style back around 2006 or so.
So, if I use the word triggered, you'll be triggered, because I've touched a nerve?

Mostly I just sigh deeply and slump a little bit deeper into my chair. Does that count as triggered?

In other news a bunch of republican people (who have already gotten their slice of the delicious pie, and/or aren't really going for re-election anyway) have now decided that gerrymandering is bad, and that we should stop doing it.

No shit.

Can't really get rid of it entirely since people constantly move and demographics change. Certainly needs to be limited though, it has gotten ridiculous the last few decades.

Because Buzzfeed is sometimes useful.

I like how the Ohio one makes more sense if you're a fish than a person.

I don't know if he'll win the election, but I do know two things: He wins at commercials, and loses at karaoke.

Sounds as though McCain, Capito and Paul are all "no" on the latest Obamacare repeal attempts. Collins and Murkowski probably as well. Be easier for more "no" votes to come out since the bill is already good as dead.

There was a big push to bribe Murkowski by effectively exempting Alaska from the provisions entirely but that's supposedly off the table now. Even if Alaska was exempt, others in the industry pointed out that you can't just put a blanket over your head and pretend that the chaos in 49 other states' industries won't affect your own.

I am shocked, SHOCKED I say, that McCain could vote the same way as the last two times.

So the states that chose not to take the federal funds, are they able to change their minds, or would it take a new bill of some sort to get them on?

I assume you mean the Medicare expansion funds. From Kaiser:
Quote:
Enhanced Matching Rates. In some instances, Medicaid provides a higher matching rate for select services or populations, the most notable being the ACA Medicaid expansion enhanced match rate. For those states that expand, the federal government will pay 100 percent of Medicaid costs of those newly eligible from 2014 to 2016.1 The federal share gradually phases down to 90 percent in 2020 and remains at that level. There is no deadline to adopt the expansion; however, the federal match rates are tied to specific years.

Ted Cruz said today that the new law didn't have his vote nor the likely vote of Senator Lee. I think, as it becomes less likely that the vote will pass you'll see more senators feeling safe in opposing it (since none of them are "killing" it) and it might not come up on the floor at all. Or maybe it will -- McConnell may feel the need to just put it out there so it can fail versus being accused of not trying.

As long as it's doubleposting -- A GOP operative told HuffPo that the problem with trying to bribe Murkowski with excluding Alaska from the law is that Alaska already has the same benefits under the ACA. So why deal with all the "flip flop" and pissing off those who are happy with her moderate stance to get the same exact thing she's getting now? Those who think she's a terrible RINO, etc will think that regardless and she's already won her seat once as a write-in when the far right knocked her out in a GOP primary so she doesn't owe them anything.

Anthony and his Weiner have been sentenced to 21 months in prison for his whole teen sexting thing. Probably not a good place for a guy that can't keep it in his pants.

Sounds good ...
