That's all that can be taken from his speech at the National Press Club today.

Oh wait, sorry, I mean I'm terrified of black people and will never vote for Obama now because Wright didn't hide in a corner.

******* crackers.

Oh, I'm sure it'll be the top story on FoxNews if it isn't already.

He was in full CRAZYBLACKMAN mode, which I personally find entertaining, but many crackers won't. The government created HIV to kill blacks, Farkan is a great thinker, the whole nine.

You're kidding me, right? I haven't seen it or had a chance to look it up yet so this is the first I've heard about what his talk to the NAACP consisted of. Hohoho, if so, this is too good to be true. It's like all this bad karma is coming back to haunt Barry for the free pass and outrageously good luck he got for the past year.

RACK crazy black men who publically claim AIDS, crack, and police shootings are an institutionalized Whitey public policy against darkies. That's right up there with that church that claims 9/11 and dead soldiers are God's retribution against homosexuality.

Sadly, no.

Nice, picture FOX. Fair, yet balanced. Educated black man speaking confidently and not apologizing? Yeah, it's over for Obama.

I caught part of it last night, but had to head out. Dunno about most of it, but honestly the bit about musical differences almost had me falling out of my seat. It was pretty darn funny...

It would be funnier if he was a comedian and not a preacher though.

You pubbies are getting all upset that some dude reckons that racism is a problem in the world, and that 'cause and effect' is something that should be taken into account when planning foreign policy, yet have no problems with the likes of the Pope and Pat Robertson.

I mean after all, the Pope reckons he's got the 'ear' of God, and is his representative on Earth!!1!11!!

And Robertson says stuff like
Quote:

"Well, I totally concur. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say: "You helped this happen."

on a pretty regular basis.

I know wich one of the three seems less delusional to me.

Of course neither the Pope or robertson are particularly 'black', tho I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

To be fair, there's a big difference between pointing out specific groups and their specific agendas/actions and making some kind of judgment about them, and blanketly calling America "white America", and calling "white America" a racist state.

The former is judging people/groups based on their political positions and/or actions. The later judges an entire group of people and paints them all with the same brush. If Wright clearly identified specific groups within America (like say the KKK or Aryan Brotherhood or whatever) as groups who were to be opposed for their message and actions, he'd get no opposition from me or likely most Americans. But when he paints all white as racist simply because of our skin color, he's ceased to be someone talking about racism, but has now himself become the racist...

Pat Robertson wrote:

See how he's pointing his finger at specific groups and not everyone of a particular color? That's the difference. Not that I agree with everything (or even most things) that comes out of Mr Robertson's mouth, it's still incorrect to equate this to what Mr Wright has said. Robertson is singling out specific groups who choose to act in ways which he disagrees with. Wright is painting everyone of a particular skin color with one broad brush.

I'm sure it has everything to do with it. If Wright were white and saying the same statements but pointed at black people, you wouldn't be defending him. See how color has a lot to do with it?

No it isn't. Wright's never accused "white people" of anything.

Anyone familiar with the Tuskegee experiment knows that accusing the government of spreading HIV among the black community isn't as far fetched an idea as it sounds.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_experiment

Doesn't mean that's what happened this time, and to his credit the ONE GOOD THING Bush did for Africa was AIDS aid, but still. They have a reason to be paranoid about this kind of thing.

I'm just failing to see the correlation between political mud-slinging and an all out war on the black church. Everyone was desperate to bring Barry down a bit and they used whatever they could find.

Yeah, I imagine most white people who've never set foot in a black church probably feel that way.

Because most white folks who've never stepped foot in a "black church" have never been to a church that preaches a racist message.

You're pitching slowballs there Smash...

You're right! How could I not have missed that maybe when he said "white america" he really wasn't talking about white people... It's just an expression, right? Of course, if that's the case, then why not just say "america" and leave off the word "white"? You know. If he was just talking about the US in general and not trying to make some kind of racist statement...

And there's pretty much no getting around quote number two... Sad really, cause we were almost on a roll here.

Yes, we all agree that a black man may never allude to or state the fact that America is run by white people. That's just going to far. Upitty ******.

Here's my question: Did Wright purposefully decide to place himself in the national spotlight on Sunday as a form of retribution to Obama for distancing himself from Wright and Trinity? After all, he called Barry a politician, but in a way which could easily be taken by the listener as derisive or distainful. Or does Wright really not care if the first truly viable black candidate for the US presidency makes it to the Oval Office-- which would fly in the face of all the "Whitey is holdin' us black folk down" sermonizing?

Either way, it appears to be strangely self inflicted punishment. On the face of it I cannot fathom why he would choose to agree to speak to the NAACP at this time. Pride? Revenge? Apathy? A desire to become relevant after being retired? He had to have known that doing this would at the very least resurrect the controversy, at worst submarine Obama's chances in November.

Bizarre.
