Aye, there are two sets of identical-looking armour in the game: wedding set and opaline set. Wedding set is rare/ex, lvl 20 and you buy it for 50k gil when you book your wedding. (It's paid for on the day of the wedding along with all the other possible charges) Opaline set is high-level clothcraft synth and lvl 40, you can buy it from the auction house or get it crafted for you. Also note when you apply for the wedding you will be asked your main job, make sure you apply with the job thats equipment you want to wear for the wedding (this is important for the groom).
Me and my husband had a Windurst wedding, and I've acted as a chaperone to a Bastok wedding. Overall I don't think the weddings are that different, each nation simply adds their own flavour to it. If you've ever done missions for Windurst/Bastok/SanD'Oria it's a similar sort of thing- same missions with a slightly varied storyline and local characters. At a Windurst wedding the ceremony is conducted by a tarutaru, in Bastok it's a hume. The Windurst wedding had a very natural feel to it, bride and groom exchange foods of their choice (we went for heart-shaped chocolates) to symbolise their union, and afterwards there were lots of fireworks. For both ceremonies that I've attended, they were outdoors weddings and the GM arranged them so that they started at sunset so the lighting was beautiful. Our wedding was on the island slightly off Sarutabaruta coast, the Bastok wedding I attended was on top of the Lighthouse in Gustaberg. The GM will zone you and all the guests to the selected locations since they are otherwise inaccessible for players and the ceremonies are quite private.
Few pointers in case they help:
-Whoever you choose to be your chaperone make sure he/she is a patient person and a good friend. The official wedding applications are approved by a lottery system, and until it is accepted your chaperone will have to fill in the application form EVERY week. I did this for about three months for the Bastok wedding I chaperoned.
-Have patience yourself. If you want an official wedding it'll be worth it when you do get it. Otherwise nothing's stopping you from leveling to 40, buying the Opaline set and arranging for your own wedding for example at the Hall of the Gods or Jeuno Cathedral.
-Also, your chaperone will be responsible for all the arrangements on the day. GM will only talk to the chaperone and only chaperone can pay for the wedding/distribute fireworks to guests (so make sure you give him the money to pay for the wedding beforehand lol) and is in charge of gathering the guests and making sure everyone knows how to behave.
-The official weddings have a script you have to follow, in my experience the GMs doing these are super helpful and pretty flexible though and let you add in your own vows and whatnot if you ask them nicely. And no, they don't show up in that red GM armour.
Hope you guys get the date you want soon and all the best for the wedding. :)
