Does anyone have any advice on defeating Foulques. I do fine up until the adds appear then die pretty quickly. Am I missing something? I would appreciate any advise you may have.

I have the same problem. And the two videos I've seen of it are no help, since they're doing it level capped at 34. Little different for a 30.

Well I did it right at 30 failing the first time. The second time I burnt him down till he starts using the AoE and dragging him around the outside of the area since the ice is persistent. Kept that up till the adds spawned and went straight for the blm of the group. He dies quick can use the ranged attack to kill him while you kite everything. Once the blm drops keep kiting things and baiting Foulques into using his aoe. When he does focus on one of the lancers and drop them then repeat for the second. Keep yourself healed as best as you can. Think I had Hipots and the PUG heal and MAR's bloodlust. Once they drop it's easy to finish up the fight. Just keep avoiding his AoE cause he got a bit spam happy for me with it.
Cannibalism is a valid means of debate. Your opponent presents their side of the argument and you respond in kind by consuming their liver. Thus the debate ends with you having proved your point. As a boon for being such a master of the debationary arts few people will wish to confront you in such a manner in the future.

potions of course, I found I could slowly use cure to get my hp up again when he was using weaponskills so I simply kited and healed this way. It's a fun fight keep trying, and failing that you can always come back to it in a few levels. There are loads of other low level defensive subskills you could use if you so chose.

Remember, you can also kite with Talon (throwing Javelin skill). This will come in especially handy in lvl 50 DRG quest fight (which is basically the harder version of this and the WS can take 1/3 of your Hp or more in a single move).

/\ this, every time he jumps to do his AE move just run out and use Piercing Talon. Then its just a matter of staying out of the ice on the floor. That and in the 1st phase, try to burn as much HP from him as you can and keeping Life Surge and Keen Flurry up. So every time he charges to do a move make sure your flanking him to heavy thrust to get the dmg bonus or run behind and impulse drive him. Other than that keep using the basic combo of true>vorpal>full.

I did this quest yesterday. Failed at it twice, both times shortly after adds came. So I came up with a new game plan, and here is how it went down:

-I went to the market board and bought a few X-Potions, a Stronger Paralyze potion, and a STR potion (never did use it, not sure if any potion use trigger the 5min GCD...or if when I bought it it had a GCD and I just didn't pay attention.)
-I had lv8 CNJ's protect and heal, and what I thought was useful lv15 MRD skills.
-Started the fight and moved down into the corner and proceeded to stab away, avoiding his Heart Stopper, and ether Flanking him, or just continuing the basic combo T>V>F.
-Also tried to keep the 2 DoTs I had (the LNC skill, and the MRD's one).
-When he began to do the Ice Rings, I moved out of AE and used Piercing Talon.
-When add's came, I used one of the Paralyze potions on him and proceeded to burn down adds while stay out of Ice Rings, and kiting Foulques. Once adds where done, back to Foulques.
-Used Cure and X-potions as needed. Towards the end of the fight I was basically just using Piercing Talon twice, he would get in range to do Ice Ring, I'd run out while throwing one, cast cure 1 to 2 times, and then throw again as he came at me.
-Paralyze potion did proc a few times and stopped a few Ice Rings and Heart Stoppers (I also used the LNC Stun as well).

I did the quest at 3o and after 3 fails, I looked at the comments in this post. They are basically right on. The adds have low defense but hit hard so take them out ASAP starting with the BLM. After that and kiting Foulques around the outer edge of the area, you should be able to down him fairly well. Much easier after the adds have been killed. If you keep dancing around Foulques and the adds, you should be alright on health but maybe need a Hi Pot or quick healing spell. It also helps if you use Protection from CNJ/WHM. I should also mention I had made HQ scale armour and HQ legs + had aetherial bardiche equipped. Anyway, good luck and hope that helps.
