FYI, there's no requirement that says you have to use your real name on Facebook. I have a couple of friends who do that.

There is also a security setting where people cannot see you on friend's lists either. I actually tried to find a friend, knowing he was on another friend's page. He told me about the setting when he tracked me down.

Yeah, if it worked the way he wanted it wouldn't need an ignore button. Smiley: mad

Sure.

Or maybe 'Ginger Sasquatch'?

That's too good to be wasted on Facebook. Get an admin to change your posting name.

Having to use the ignore button on the off chance some guy you hate finds you is worth it considering people you might like but have lost touch could find you. But that's just me.

But I don't like anybody I've lost touch with. It's why I lost touch with them in the first place.

And Belkira was referring to denying someone a friend invite.

I was saying it was rude to use the ignore button. Which is funny, because it's sort of rude to not want anyone to find you anywhere on the internet, too.

It was a joke. Smiley: glare

It's a good thing then that I consider it rude for people I don't like to try and contact me or I'd feel guilty about that.

There's no need to explain yourself. As Canadians, there is no way we can be rude; even when we're rude.

Point taken.

It's also only sort of rude, and even then, rude might be too strong a word.

Kind of defeats the purpose. I literally was interrupted reading this thread with facebook friend invite from a long time friend/acquaintance. From the name, I didn't recognize it, till I saw the picture.

I'm trying to remember if it was like that before they let the "outsiders" (non university students) join. I know in order to register back in the day, you had to have a legitimate school email address.

Anyway, one of the reasons why I liked facebook was that it was real and not fake like myspace. Myspace isn't 100% fake, but i've seen so many over 99 years of age, $200,000 salary, etc. with funky names like "iBEiZ~!@#tHE@#ShizNit!(*#&@", that after neglecting all the fake spam girls, I have to deal with alternate egos also.

I like the fact that if I want to find a friend name "Hugh Jazz", I can type it and it will appear.
