They suggested eating a lot of sauer *****.

Dear lord, why do I hate sauer *****?

But for those of you who also don't like sauer *****, I think its juice helps too. like sprinkling it a bit on some food you eat.

The whole CNN story.

CNN.com wrote:
The World Health Organization says a cluster of bird flu cases in Indonesia may have been caused by human-to-human transmission.

An outbreak of bird flu that infected at least seven Indonesian family members earlier this month in north Sumatra was not a mutated version of the often deadly H5N1 form of the virus, World Health Organization spokesman Peter Cordingley told CNN.

However, there were concerns the virus may have been spread by human-to-human contact, he said.

"We have not had a cluster as large as this -- seven people in an extended family," Cordingley said.

"We can still find no sign of any sick animals that might have infected these people so we've got a puzzle on our hands and it's a worrying one."

All seven members of the family have since died.

Bird Flu is another news scare. Just like mad cow was 4 months ago. Where is it now? Oh, it is still there, but it is old news. Next year it will be something bigger and more grim.

No more than 100 people have died. God forbid... More people choke on ballpoint pens.

  • If you are worried about this, or mad cow, or that thing that was "plaguing" our nation a few years ago (the one with the mosquitos) then you are slightly stupid. Quit watching news if you get that scared, the odds of it ever happening to you are so slim I would dare to say you will never contract any of these. So stop worrying.

I think that kind of complacency is unwise. While the threat has been barely a blip so far in terms of casualites, the real concern is if it mutates into a form that can be transmitted from human-to-human. I have no reason to believe it necessarily will, or if it does that we will all die miserable deaths. But still, there is a very real risk for a pandemic.

As Jawbox said, the worst attitude when it comes to these things may be Complacency. But panic also comes at a very decent second. Bird Flu is as yet not a real problem for the world, but it could become one, overnight. Don't Panic, but keep your eyes and ears open when you hear the news.

theres nothing wrong with being concerned about something that could be a global threat in the future. west nile, mad cow disease, and the bird flu have all been found in the united states. the odds of me contacting any of these really isnt my concern, the fact that its possible is what concerns me. and no need to call someone stupid cause u dont agree with something i said. that is all

I think those Africanized killer bees are still making their way up from South America.

That's what you have to be worried about!

    Bird flu sorta reminds me of sars from awhile back. News agencys tend to blow everything out of porportion to gain raitings. This comic could prob go with this new "epedemic" as well;

You can always tell when important ratings periods are coming.

The local whores, er news channels, run ads like: "Deadly new threat that's already killed dozens - is your family at risk? Tune in tonight at 11 and find out!"

It turns out to be people who eat toothpaste and die of colon cancer - or some such nonsense.

Never trust the news. Never get your news from only one source. I have friends who only get their news from NPR and the BBC. I have friends who only get their news from Fox. To listen to these people independently and what they believe, you'd think they exist in different universes. (perhaps they do)

The Spanish Flu, called so because the Spanish Gov't was the only one in WW1 unafraid to report flu deaths (that's what I've read), did in fact kill millions the world over. A massive flu outbreak is possible and would be devastating, if it were both deadly and ... bah, blanked on the adjective for "easily spread" (and from human to human).

But that said, the news isn't interested in giving you truth. They want your eyeballs, because your eyeballs (and ears) means ratings, and ratings meand money. You thought time was money. Hah! It's sense organs.

You do, of course, realise that we take in equally potentially-deadly viruses & bacteria every day by doing such mundane things as eating, drinking and breathing?

I think the word Iponema was looking for was 'virulent' or 'communicable'.

What's even more disturbing to think about is if you examine the surface of your skin. Half the bacteria that people are so paranoid of and trying to avoid are already crawling all over them. What's keeping them out? More bacteria of course.

Those people cleaning themselves umpteen times a day cause they are worried about their health are actually hurting themselves more. They are removing all the harmless bacteria that covers us allowing the harmful stuff easier passage into the body.

My biology teacher freaked out couple of the kids in class with that the one year ^^
