Walking over to the refrigerator at work today, i saw a familiar sight.

A "rubberish" refrigerator magnet. Instantly, my ADD riddled mind (forgot the little pill this morning) went nuts (nvts if you've seen history of the world part 1, but i digress), thinking of everything i've ever learned about magnets. North south, attract repel, north pole is not magnetic north, can be used to create alternating current, permanent magnets can be made of iron nickle and cobalt....wait a sec.

So if anyone can tell me what refrigerator magnets are made of (or ask their science teacher), and report back as to their composition and procedures needed to create them, it would be greatly appreciated.

I desperately need to get back to work and this is driving me nuts.

Hrm. I'm not sure how natural magnets are created and work, but you can turn, say, any piece of iron into a magnet.
As far as I know, all of those atoms have a magnetic north and south pole. The metal object usually doesn't have a polarity itself because they cancel each other out en masse in all directions.

By striking the iron against any object, it will shake the atoms (I hope it's atoms) until they become aligned and the metal becomes magnetic.

As for rubber magnets, here's the best I could come up with.

There is no such thing as ADD, its just for doctors to get money from parents who dont know how to discipline their children. Lazy parents make these doctors rich. Keep up the good work.

if you are interested in magnets check out neodymium magnets. They are really dangerous though.. so careful if you get some

yahoo for the ADD kids of the world...
see? you've started a vicious cycle... for now... I am curious about these "rubbery" magnets... since I'm assuming you mean the flexible wierd ones...
like the type they use to make the removable signs for cars and stuff....

>.>
i'll have to procure a mini-evil genius chemistry set, and a sample of this rubbery magnet

OMG!!!! I have seroisly thought about this many a times b4 also but beware of those litlle mangy rubbery dubbery blubbery magnets!!!!!!!! Now here's a funny story bout them dang magnets-

One day i was just rolling along my street (yes rolling) when all of a sudden i saw this magnet. It was just an ordinary magnet so i picked it up and brought it into my house............
Just then the magnet launched out at me like a , like a , THING! and it tried to strangle me but i wouldnt budge. so i threw it across my room and it splattered on the window <huh thought that was funny> anyways it slides down the window and hten, just then it lashes out at my dog and starts to ....gently.... DEVOUR HIS SOUL!!!!!!! so anyways i make myself a PB&J and then i sat down and watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. YAH!!!! anyways so the magnets sneaks up behind me then all of a sudden i grab his magnetic self and im running running running like a constipated weiner dog..... anyways i throw him into the box <really cool fight scene where we both go super sain> i win ^^ and then i send him to Hawaii.......

The Moral of this story is ...... well i dont know but u can interpret it however u want.....

Peaceout! ^^
