Hi,

I just recently done Maat Battle in G5. I start this form, just want to share my experience for ppl who havn't done G5 yet and give them a little bit of idea, how to do it.

First of all, i did mine Maat battle in lv 70 brd. I have only use 1 weapon skill and the battle take me 3 min to finish and maat is very very very very weak.

Before i go, i always think maat going to be hard, very hard. But after i done the battle, i was way over estimate maat's power. He is weaker than a coffer chest mob.

Here is my gear i go in as:

Head: Emperor Hairpin lv 24 +10 eva
Body: Scorpion Harness lv 57 +10 acc + 10 eva
Hand: Carapace Gauntlets lv 61 +8 att and +16 def (latent effect)
Leg: Choral Cannions lv 56 +5 STR
Feet: Choral Slippers lv 52 +5 eva

Neck: Evasion Torque lv 65 +7 eva
Wrist: Life Belt lv 48 + 10 acc
Back: Cheviot Cape lv68 - 5% physical damage
Ear1: Melody Earring +1 lv 52 +2 CHR + 6 eva (latent effect)
Ear2: Minstrel's Earring lv 70 -30% physical damage (latent effect)
Ring1: Venerer Ring lv 34 +3 acc
Ring2: Archer's Ring lv 30 +2 acc
Main: Wing Sword +2 STR VIT AGI
Sub: Elegant Shield lv 40 + 1 CHR

Range: All the possilbe needed instrument for paeon, final, slow song and req song.

The gear setup is basic on adding STR and Acc and Eva to against maat.

I'm a elves, my hp is 1100, my singing, wind and string is capped at lv 70. My sword is 186 and my eva skill is 165.

The reason i did in lv 70 is becasue of the latent effect earring, it give me a safe fall back, if things go wrong.

The food i bring is following:

4 sleep potion so i can use opo-neck to gain tp before start.
1 iccus wing to add 100 tp
1 stack of selbina milk to let maat dispel
1 solo suchi to + acc and Str

Steps to kill maat.

1) I unequip all my gear to enter to BC.
2) Once inside BC i equip all my gear.
3) equip Opo-neck, use sleep potion to gain tp till 100 tp
4) unequip opo-neck and equip Evasion Torque
5) eat iccure wing now my tp is 200
6) eat solo suchi
7) eat selbina milk
8) run to the edge of BC look what maat is casting
9) 2 hr myself
10) cast paeon V and paeon IV
11) press attack to maat
12) Start off with final maat
13) Cast slow song on maat
14) cast req song on maat
15) Maat only got 90% hp left after u done all these
16) keep hitting maat until 300 tp
17) spiral within maat, 30% hp left on maat now.
18) maat use dragon kick to me (weak only 300 hp)
19) battle over

This is how i take maat. What i find is maat is so weak. The 2hr slow song is really good, maat only manage to hit me 70 to 100 damage once every 4 hit i done to him. In average my hit is 25 to 40 damage.

He only manage to cast final once and only mange to do one dragon kick on me.

My hp always full, without going down.

solo suhi give a big boost on hiting him, i hardly miss. but for another hand, if maat miss u (due to eva gear), he in big trouble.

2 hr paeon 5 and 4 and selibma milk, u hardly reduces hp, always end up full hp.

my weapons skill on spirital within take him 60% of the hp.

Here is my experience with G5 on maat battle, i hope this help or give ppl some understand how the battle with maat work!

Wish every bard the best with G5 :)

Massive overkill.

At level 70 just the minstrel's earing is almost enough to win. Anyway I used carapace for head, body and hands, AF legs, AF feet, Bastokan ring, +2 vit ring, minstrel's earing, melody earing, gleeman's belt, amhet mantel, rapier, elegant shield, and opo-opo necklace. Went in, slept to 200 tp, ate wing, ran in spirits within, soul voice elegy, requiem, paeon x2, finale. After 2 minutes 30 seconds recast elegy, requiem, paeon x2. Used fast blade to finish him off. Didn't use any potions and finished the fight with 300 hp left. Note I didn't have any particularly impressive gear, I think I lost 20k total on the fight in listing fees (made my own sleep pots) selling single use stuff back and consumables. I forgot to eat my taco and I forgot to use my reraise. The biggest thing I'ld be sure to do is to cast finale whenever you can in order to keep maat singing buffs on himself instead of trying to attack you.

Overkill indeed, good job none the less. Curious, how much did you end up spending on the fight lichinto?

I think i spend 100k on food and potions.

Paeon V i just got it when i was lv 65 for cheap when the price drop down to the lowest in AH about 100k i think.

Emperor Hairpin , Scorpion Harness and Evasion Torque i borrowed from my brother who is a lv 70 nin in my static.

Life Belt, Melody Earring +1, Venerer Ring and Archer's Ring are basicly got it from my bst job. (Alot of my bard gear is from bst job, which help me save alot of gil)

The only things i did spend gil on for the fight apart from food and potions is Cheviot Cape and wing sword.

But wing sword is one of the end game sword for brd apart from using rune blade and that joyanse 2 hits sword.

The most expensive is Cheviot Cape about 1 mill, but i can always sell it back after maat or keep it for ballisa or any other job.

(Currently planning to collect armour and things that make bard hard to take down on melee and magic)

Just a idea that... if u equip lots of - physical damage gear + god armour full set and sub rdm.

The outcome is looking good. You can about almost -75% physical damage and about 50 resist to elements from god armour.

Which make the bard very hard to kill while spamming sleepra! lol

:D

is it just me or did maat get a crap load easier then he used to be. It used to be taht ppl would keep posting fourms of how it took them several tries to kill maat with even the best of gear and max sword and evasion skill. Now i cant seem to find a bard that hasnt beaten the crap out of him on their first stab at it. I just beat him on sunday, and i can tell you that i was a hell of a lot easier than any of the fourms had led me to believe. He attacks slow, his damage isn't all that high and he rarely finale's.

The biggest things i noticed was

A) he stuck with battlefield elegy. That already makes it a crap load easier.

B) He didn't bust out asuran fists. In fact, all he did was one inch punch for 150 dmg.

I don't think they intentionally made the Maat fight easier. I think what happened is we got serious about getting it done the first time around. Aka, we took the time to level up our weaponskills and evasion, bought melee gear, and went in with a huge pile of potions (way beyond what we might need), and started out using our 2 hour skills.

The only thing that they may have added recently (that I used anyway) was the minstrel's earing, which makes the fight a lot easier.

I'm also guessing that the races beating Maat aren't Tarutaru. HPS seem to matter a bunch.
