Ok.... Auriana is upset. I have done AF1, Received the quest AF2, and Received the quest for Coffer 3. I got my Crawlers Nest Coffer Key, Opened it, and it was a hi-reraiser... so clearly i've done something wrong.

Earlier I did the Garlidge Cididel coffer with Valendros my Blm, and he was on his Whm/Blm so if he died, I wouldn't care, and he got his Key item... I have to open the Coffer 1 and 2 with bard job don't I... sigh... nevermind. GRRR I am pissed. I keep messing up with everything, its going to take me forever to get all my friggin AF.

I was told you need to open the Boghertz's Harmonius Hands quest (NOT finish it) to pop coffers. Maybe that's the problem? I triggered it to be safe before I opened any coffers, maybe give that a try?

Just a note of warning. Bugaboo has a bloodweapon type attack always on, so a nin or /nin tank wouldnt be a bad idea. He doesnt attack too fast, so it shouldnt be a problem.

*yet another shameless bump*
Glad somone did this, I have just opened up the hands quest and am anxious to get all my AF (even though it pretty much has no purpose aside from looking cool on my Taru)

I can't wait for my 73 NIN and RDM friends to get back and help me get my keys and do the quest for my boots ^^

Thanks for the awsome post.

Just got my muffin hat. It's so useless and yet it makes me so happy.. heheheh.

Anyway, thought I'd post my experiences so far with getting what AF I have. Always good to have lots of info when you're starting this stuff.

AF1- Well, I wasn't in a LS with any high levels when I dinged 40, so I just shouted in jeuno that I would pay someone 60+ 10k for 15 minutes of work helping me get my AF. Got like 83 responses. Went with a 60 drg who soloed it no problem. My only contribution to the fight was water carol and as many cure III's as mp would allow. The paper knife looks cool.

AF2- Waited until I was 55 for this one. I got a 60 thf and a 52 drk from my LS to help... also got a 60 blm and a 68 thf from jeuno just from shouting. Tele-vahzl. Run run run... Get to eldieme, run some more, take a left, find the sarcophagus. Put sneak on myself, trade the water to the... second sarcophagus on the left. Yum and his dudes spawn. They don't aggro, so I ran back to the party, one of the thfs range attack pulled yum. He didn't stand a chance, I think he hit the 68 thf maybe twice. The boots are eh, but there's not much better I can put in that slot.

Coffer 1 - Well, guess I just did this one. Started at 5 in the morning so there was NOBODY on any of my LSes. So, jeuno got some "coffer key/skill up party" spam courtesy of me. I would say it took 30 minutes to get my first response, but I got people pretty quickly after that. Party was: me, 61 brd, 54 rng, 60 blm, and most importantly 67 war. Key here was the higher lvled tank. We went down to where the helm beetles are, and started cleaning house. Killed helms, crawler hunters, and knight crawlers. The key was being really stubborn though, and took maybe ~2 hours to drop... dropped off a helm beetle, oddly enough. I figured I'd get it from a knight crawler.. ah well. I was ecstatic that everyone stayed that long.

So after much jubilation, I set to finding the coffer. I should mention that I have the most ridiculous luck in the world finding chests/coffers. I had looked at the treasure hunting map and I remembered seeing a bunch of red dots in the northwest part of map 2. So that's where I went... just got on what I thought was map 2 and stumbled blindly in a northwest direction. 5 minutes in, I check in a nook, and there it is. Bam. Funky hat.

Coffer 3 - This one was actually fun to do. One, I had never been to castle zvahl before. It's cool. Two, I just jumped on a coffer key party that was being shouted for in jeuno.. and it had like 2 70's and a 65 in it. Woo boy. This could only be good.

So we tele-vahzl, run on in, sneak/invis our way to the pit. By the way. The pit is cool. We proceded to destroy just about everything. This was not a skillup party; I could only smack things twice before they died. There was an ahriman that spawned in the hallway, and these things hemmorhage keys. It spawned maybe 4 times in the time we were there, and we got 3 keys out of them. We also managed to get: a samurai testimony for a sam in the group from a blood demon; a demon pen, which is a throwing item that adds 1 STR when you equip it; and a couple of demon horns which are money in the bank. Extremely sucessful run.

Well I logged out on the little drop-off ledge after that, had to do some stuff. Maybe ~3 hours later I log back in, intent to search for my coffer. I'll be damned if it wasn't in the corner of the room I just partied in. Bam. Old gauntlets.

Flash forward a week, I've got a friend who needs to kill Dark Spark too. So I take him (52 drk), a 60 drg, and a 67 rdm, and we go pummel sparky into submission. He tried to suicide but it got stunned; all too easy. Choral cuffs... niice.

So that's where I am. I'll update when I add to my artifactal collection.

I've just started mine, got AF relatively easy. A friends HNMLS had a member that needed BRD AF2 as well, so I hopped on with a 75 BRD and a 70 nin/war... I have to say Mazakuri (or whatever the walking speed up song is) rules!! We made it there fairly quickly, and the other guy spawned the skeletons. we actually only killed owl gaurdian and the other Gaurdian (didn't see Yum whatever at all) and he said "ok I'm done mine, lets do yours". So I trade my holy water and BOOM cutscene, didn't have to do the battle again... took like 5 minutes.

AF2 I just started. Might want to make a correction on main directions. It is one REAL LIFE DAY you have to wait before digging up the ring again, I tried after one in game day, and it didn't work, and casting sneak on myself I agroed a dark elemental that wasn't even on my radar or in view range... I was not impressed.

hopefully by the end of this week I will have everything but dark spark done... the AF for bard kinda sucks, but I want it so bad ^^

Congrats on the sticky, Fedex!

Suprised this made it before the All-comprehensive list of Bard links though.

Hello people just letting you know, My Bard friend and i soloed the NM for AF1 last night. I went as 57Ranger/26Warrior. I only subbed Warrior for provoke and i kicked its ***. Built up TP to 300 once engaged, Sharpshot--->Sidewinder-->Barrage-->Sidewinder. Bard only casted Hunters Prelude and Paeon on me. It went very good. Btw the Bard was only 48. Get a good lvl ranger and he can solo this for you =)

It's not a full 24 hours. The buried ring part is 'finished' when the servers recognize Japanese time as switching over to 0:00. This is around 10am EST I think, though I can't remember.

Dumb question but didn't see this anywhere:

do I have to do the AF1 fight AS my Bard? Or can I get it assigned on Bard and do the actual fight on my RDM or WHM? (if i go RDM I need far less help from what I've seen above).

Edited: did this as RDM58 with another RDM 57 and a THF65 - cake. ^^

BRD AF1:

Confirmed - You don't have to go as BRD to fight Tros.

I went by myself as 75BLM/WHM. Solo'd him. I think I got some kind of record. I don't know exactly how fast it was. The amount of time it takes to cast Thunder IV, Blizzard IV, and Fire IV. And the Fire IV was definite overkill. I probably could have taken him out with a Stone III after that Blizzard. So I say he has about 2700HP, give or take. Maybe around 2500. He didn't have time to cast much on me. A blindga (I didn't have my weapon drawn) and almost got off a Waterga. Which probably wouldn't have done much to me as BLM.

Thing didn't even get past my stoneskin.

I did, however, clear out the room out of chronic paranoia. But I don't think it would have made a difference.

EDIT:

Just did BRD AF2 solo. And it's not for the faint of heart. I used the suggested Sneak and Cure pull method, so I only had to deal with the main NM. He's a BLM type, and BLM VS BLM is like a cosmic pissing contest. Needless to say though, this thing has well over 10,000HP. I had to use Manafont, and a Vile Elixer to take him out. And debuffs don't last long on him at all. Not to mention he puts spikes on, and has a weapon that hits really hard, and has Enfire on it. Desipte it's difficulty, it took me about 2.5 minutes to complete. Hardest part really was getting there.

So, for any other BLM, or those who can bring along a higher up BLM, they can solo it. But it's going to take some luck, gymption, and your songs to make it easy. *Not to mention your curative abilities*

Correction: AF3 The Circle of Time
After you dig the ring out in Xacabard you need to return to Port Jeuno and speak again to Imasuka near the Qufim. He will suggest to you to take it to someone of respectable age in Chateau d'Oraguille. Chalvato can be found in the garden at F-7
