Just wanted to say thanks for the guide it really helped. Just beat this foo sunday night!

Just want to give my experience to help the up and commers, I used the sleeping technique, but I made the mistake of healing before I went in to the ring and lost it all. DOH!!

Well I figured I'm here might as well give it my best. I went with an accuracy setup for faster tp build.

Royal Guards Collar
Amement Mantle
Espadon +1
Life Belt
AF Armor
Verve/Jelly Ring
Insomnia/Buckler Earring
Genarals Shield
Bibiki Shell

So I had to fight my way for my first WS, made sure I wasnt flashed and bam 250 dmg, popped Icarus Wing, Bam another 250 dmg swift blade. By this time he was down to just over 50%. He used invincible, I popped sentinel, and cured my self using potions and a cure 4, then popped a yag drink. Used my 3rd weapon skill for 200 dmg. He was almost down to 25%, a couple more swings and he gave up. He only used 1" punch on me (which did like 102 dmg), flash, maat bash (shield bash), and Banish 2 (which was only doing like 30 dmg even with jelly ring on) I used about 6 hi potions, 2 yag drinks, Icarus wing, blink band, and Carbonara for food. 3 Swift Blades for about 700 dmg. Cleared in 9 minutes 0 seconds, would have been sooner but I messed up the sleeping thing by healing. Also finished with 1048 HP and 47 MP. I didnt even use Invincible.

Here is my advice:

Go in prepared, read the guides, go to youtube and watch the videos so you know what to expect. Thats what I did and now maat is my punk bish!!

Peace!

Great Guide man rate up. Seeing Maat posts everyday got old after awhile.
But i got a few things to say though.

For best results during your Maat fight, do your best to cap all major skills. This means Healing and Divine Magic, also Sword, Shield, Evasion, and Parrying.

I'm sorry but definitely no. Divine magic should be capped anyway as well as sword and shield being close to the cap from just xp parties. Capped Healing Magic isn't going to help you as much as you'd think it would. A few extra HP when curing is nice, but nowhere even necessary to beat the absolute tar off of Maat.

I destroyed Maat as level 69 Galka PLD

Gear

Full AF
Espy +1
Chiv Chain
Lamia Mantle (For the mp bonus to my lolGalkaMP)
Life Belt
General's Shield
Herc Ring
Ether Ring
Insomnia Earring
Hospitaler's Earring

This gear is just my normal setup i use for xp and none of it is required really just my style. I think you could go in this fight with just AF a decent sword and shield, and gear and do fine.

I have heard it claimed that some Paladins have bested Maat with only a few Hi-Potions and Yagudo Drinks. While it may be true, it leaves you with a very small allowable error margin

This is exactly what I did with a few deviations. Kept Yag drinks on at all times, When I hit half my hp, popped invincible and Hi Potioned myself to full HP. Brought along an I-wing for an extra WS and brought a Carbonarra for food. Old man just Cure IV'd himself and shield bashed me, and Banish II'd me. So in that respect I didn't have to go through a WS spam of Asuran Fists.

However, all I'm saying you don't need to go through all this time capping your skills, buying awsome gear, going in naked and re-equiping, sleeping potions for TP, it's not necessary. Go in with a steady head, keep your mp up, bring Hi-Potions for backup.

Keep in mind that this was first written before the latest PLD updates (Sentinel, Auto Refresh, Shield Mastery, etc.). Maat should be a cake walk for any PLD today. Still I'm not going to remove that line, every little bit still helps IMO, well except EVA perhaps.
