the problem is , ppl at that lvl alot of times are kinda new players, just dont understand the basics of thf, just explain to the prty what needs to be done, they will eventually get the big picture.

As a 54THF all i can say is this;

"If the people can't figure out how to line up properly, with or without instruction, they don't deserve the quicker kills."

If i'm ok with the exp/hr i stay.
if i'm not ok with the exp/hr i leave.

Ok, here's my two cents. I am currently leveling thf and have it to 42. I haven't had that much trouble with the overall pt's. One thing I have seen is that when SATA dosen't work well, the party's first thought is to blame the thf and we all know that most of the time that's not why SATA isn't working. All you can do, in my opinion, is to explain what you need to do your job. Point blank end of story. It distresses me that most ppl that responded to this thread seem to promote insulting ppl with type or by macro, as if that is going to solve anything. I don't agree with getting someone killed to prove your point, having lost exp due to someone else's ignorance myself, ie, SATA'ing someone who isn't doing what you want them to. I don't know how many ways to say this so I'll keep it simple....IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE PT, LEAVE!!!! I know sometimes it's hard to get pt's, believe me I know, but one of the beauties of thf is how productive you can be inbetween pt's. Like farming. I always need gil, don't you? If pt truly doesn't know what SATA is then for god's sake show them. How can anyone who is serious about gaining exp turn down a systems that produces so much damage on a mob? People in this game talk so much trash, I hold to one simple rule, don't say anything to someone that you wouldn't say to there face in real life. Think about it, you have no idea who you are talking to. Why aggravate yourself. Just move on, you'll be glad you did. I have logged a lot of hours on this game, 75war, 65nin, and a bunch of other jobs to mid levels and there are a lot of things I still don't know. It's not ignorance all the time, you might just be fortunate enough to have ppl around you that know what they are doing. Not an excuse, just a fact. Nobody does that job perfect, be more tolerant, and if the pt or persons in said pt are being uncooperative, leave. Just my thoughts.

Oh how I hear you..and I have even greater respect now for anyone who levels THF as a main. THF, for me, has so far been the most tiring and challenging job yet. Getting people to stand in position was something I am very familiar with as a BRD, and I have no fear of telling people where to stand. I thought that aspect of THF would not be a challenge to me. Well I was wrong...it is every bit as frustrating and potentially more harmful to the party as a whole when SATA fails due to party members moving or moving the mob.

Today I went from feeling great about my THF job to wanting to jump into the nearest scorpion pit in Altepa. Preloading SATA.../laugh ..I gave up because I was ending up wasting it half the time because the tank took too long to get in position. I was able to chain faster and be more effective by engaging the mob and hitting my macro the second the tank was in the right spot. Yes, I missed out on getting in the extra SATA from preloading, but at least I accomplished my 2 main goals:fast pulls in chains and getting hate onto the main tank promptly.

When I did try preloading, I would get to camp and wait...wait wait..for the tank to get into position, meanwhile the first voker is getting beat up. If the tank is quick about gettting in position and others dont get in the way, the preloading concept works well, otherwise it is dangerous and I end up looking like an idiot not doing my job. -_-

Yea, I gave up on preloading SATA as well before I got assasin. Examples works wonders for party members. Like the first voke dying 3 times before the tank got the idea to move faster. Or the first voke dying 3 times because he kept moving.

The meleeing Whm and Blm that would eat a SATAWS a few times. Believe, mages get 1 warning and that's it.

Even better is the party wiping, and your the only one left alive! I've always loved that.

They learn by example always. ^^

At that level bracket, I made it clear to parties that couldn't or wouldn't work with me that they had a very short time to get it right or I'd replace myself w/ another melee and go back to LFG.

Simply put, if your party cannot properly set you up with a first voke and hold the mob for the 10 seconds (that's a high estimate for a decent THF, btw) that it takes to hate-plant the tank, then they do NOT need a THF at all.

They'd be better off w/ some WAR, DRK, DRG, etc. swinging away rampantly while you deal with less stress, even at the cost of XP by not being there yourself.

I've ditched a lot of parties for this reason, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it because I've always made sure to replace myself.

Also, I hate it when tanks are not directly behind the mob. They're a bit left or right, but never truely lined up. Why is that? It's not like the mob's behind goes into hiding when the action becomes to much. What is wrong with finding Front and Center?

I don't know, I'm of two minds. Sometimes the SATA partners getting in a 'true' line with the mob means, it seems, endless fidgetting when I'd rather them just get to an angle that SATA works at and let me fire it off, instead of worrying about them moving out of line.
