Bastok fame and teleport-DemFollow

so last week i started questing for my teleport scrolls. I am a san'd resident so i already had enough fame there. in bastok i had done enough quests to get and do the warp quest (like 11or12 uniques). in windurst i just did the sardines quest alot, 70-80 times. that got me enough fame there. so i went out and got holla and mea. was lvl 33, no biggie.

now for bastok, is there an easier way than doing 25 unique quests? i have a feeling that would take several days. i heard about the la thiene cabbage in selbina, so i tried that. I did around 40 stacks, which i figure to be around 70-80 repeated times. when i went to bastok, the guy still didn't know my name. so i started doing little quests there, valkrum sunsand, silver nametag, and i hear the treant bulbs quest you can only do like once a game day (not positive).

so basically, what should i do???

It took me about 35 unique quests plus around 20 bubbling bernies for the teleport dem quest. So keep trying is all i have to say.

Running cabbages in Selbina is your friend :)

For me the only problem has been the Teleport - Mea quest >.<

Stupid windy fame...any ideas?

I was in the same boat as Tati. After doing a few Selbina runs with La Theine Cabbages I had enough fame in both Bastok and Sandoria to do the Dem and Holla quests. But my fame in Windy is level 1. I just went out and bought the Mea scroll cause I didn't want to be bothered with it, but eventually I want to raise my Windy fame, are there any tricks?

have a friend or a mule buy Cornettes from the Music Shop in Bastok Markets, send them to yourself in Windy and turn them in at Windurst Walls.

i was getting them for about 225 gil each, the quest gives you 200 gil back. there's no zoning required for the quest, which to me is infinitely better than Bastore Sardines.

i'm a Hero in Bastok though, might cost about 250 gil each if your fame is not as high.

i did this for my friend, bought 28, sent her 8, she waited in her mog house, picked them up, sent again, picked them up, etc. than she ran off and started handing them in. i ran off and bought more. rinse, repeat.

doing this solo with a mule will be a bit slower and your mule will probably have zilch for fame.

also i'm pretty sure the music shop doesn't sell cornettes when Bastok is last place in conquest.

There are two ways that I used to raise my fame for Bastok from that which is required for the Warp Scroll, and lvl 4 fame (that which is required for the Teleport Quest):

Selbina La Theine Cabbage quest: Take your naked character and buy 25 Stacks (yes, 25 stacks) of LaTheine Cabbages from Raimbroy's grocery and use the Teleportation service (assuming Sandy controls Zulkheim) to get to the Outpost in the dunes, and walk to Selbina. Hand him (the old dude standing next to the Sheep pen) 5 cabbages at a time. Warp back to Sandy. Do this once more (i.e. with another inventory of 25 stacks) and he will give you enough gil so that in 50 stacks handed in, your loss will be ~1200 gil.

Bubbly Bernie quest: This is the money maker that will make up for (and surpass) any loss you incurred doing the Selbina quest. Buy a stack of Quus (~1000gil), and go to the back of the Lighthouse in Gustaberg. Take a choco, it's worth it. Trade one Quus to the ??? and Bubbly Bernie will instantly appear around you in close proximity. Kill him, and Warp back with the Clock that he drops (set your HP to the Bastok Mines moghouse exit), and send it to yourself via the in game 'delivery' system. Do this 8 more times (8 deliveries to yourself, and one to keep in your inventory for a total of 9 clocks). Once this part is done, hand one clock at a time in to the old lady in the house near the Bastok Mines Magic shop (use Allakazham's quest list to find out exaclty who she is). Talk to her and hand her the clock and she gives you 500 gil. Warp back to your Moghouse, enter it, check delivery box, TAKE ONE CLOCK ONLY!!, and go back to her and do it all again. Nine Quus will gross you 4500gil (minus 1000 gil for the Stack of Quus, and 100gil for each of the 9 choco's) and give you a net of ~2000gil.

I know these take time, but it is much shorter than doing individual quests, and works fine.

Good Luck!

Also, to answer the Windy quests issue:

I did about 20 uniques before I settled on the Bastore Sardine quest and finally the "Reap what you sow" quest.

For the Bastore Sardines quest, I fished up 2 stacks of Sardines and handed those in to the chick on the docks. You must zone between each sardine. I used the Warp character (Taru NPC) on the top of the Orastery (adjacent to the Fisherman's Guild) to warp back and forth from the Port to Windy Walls (Taru NPC on top of the AH). This counts as a 'zone' as far as the quest is concerned, and it really speeds up the quest for you.

For the "Reap what you sow" quest, I bought a stack of Sobbing Fungus, and as many Deathballs as were available in the AH's and did the quest about a dozen times, warping back to my Moghouse entrance in Waters (Warp counts as a zone remember).

Sobbing Fungus gives you 500gil per fungus
Death balls give you 700gil per.

When you can't do the "Reap what you sow" quest anymore because he won't give it to you (the NPC talks about someone that's pissing him off and wants to put a spell on him or something) you now have enough fame to get the Teleport Mea quest.

Again, good luck all!!

If you have a low level job and you would like level outside Windurst then there are repeatable quests from some of their drops. But then again this isn't as quick as porting cabbage.

150 gil for 3 Beehive Chips
200 gil for 2 Remi Shells
600 gil for 3 silk threads (Recommend selling these at AH)
600 gil for 3 crawler calculi
200 gil for 1 Cornette
120 gil for 1 Four-leaf mandragora bud
250 gil for 1 Yuhtunga Suplhur
250 gil for 1 Two-Leaf Mandragora Bud and 1 Bird's Feather.

If the repeatables drain you a bit you can do some of the ****** quests for comedy relief.

DanicusX - that was perfect. i did do the lathiene cabbage one, i probably ended up with around 40 stacks brought down to him. but now i will go do the bubbly bernie quest, figure that ones worth a shot.

as for whoever asked about windurst, i did the bastore sardines quest. i almost shot my self because of how repetative it was, but the payoff was worth it. if you have no fame in windy, you can buy one sardine for 45 gil. you trade it in for 70 gil. net PROFIT of 25 gil per time done the quest. while that isn't alot, it sure beats losing alot of money. i ended up doing the quest around 70-80 times, i also did the crawler calculi around 9 times. it ended up being really boring, but it only took three hours, which isn't bad for high fame in a town.

if you can buy the calculi for under 200g a piece, you will also be making money, at 200 gil each calculi, you will break even.

The Galka guard in the stairway of the mines district will ask for a Quadav helm, gives 900 gil for each one. You can usually pick them up in the AH for around the same price. (Or farm in Beaudeaux off Old Quads)

Turn in Zeruhn Soot to Gerbaum at f8 in the Mines District. Buy stacks in the AH or kill all stuff in Zeruhn Mines.

As far as the treant bulb quest goes, you can turn in as much as you want but need to zone between each turn in. She wants Sleepshroom for breakfast, treant bulb for lunch and wild onion for dinner. The item needs to be turned in during the time she 'prepares' the meal, i.e., sleepshroom after dinner til morning, treant bulb until noonish, onion after noon til evening.

Or, if you are lazy like me... ;) You can work with a buddy (or two).

Have one person stand at zone into Bastok, and lot for the clock after the other kills Bernie. Then they run into Bastok and put the clock in storage, message the other person to start fighting, zone, lot... rinse, lather and repeat!

When the AH/Delivery is full, just switch positions.

Using this method, we were able to do over 4 stacks of Quus in about two hours (including time it took to turn them in). We walked away with our fame, and a nice bit of Gil.

With three people involved, the third could be turning in their clocks and running back to relieve the person with the full inventory.

... you could keep going indefinately! ^^;

Just too much fun! :D

In Windhurst, the NPC that gives the Sardine repeatable quest is Tokaka. He's a Taru on the docks by the Fisherman's guild. Note my other suggestions above on how to make this go buy as quick and painless as possible.

The way I got Fame in Bastok for the Warp Scroll was using the "Mom the adventurer" quest.

Except don't Synth the Copper Rings, buy them from the Goldsmithing guild right by the Mom. Buy 12 of them, and that should do it. If after 12 you don't have enough fame, buy 3 Copper Rings at a time until you get the quest. You also end up getting a stack+ of fire crystals doing it this way which you can sell and gain back gil. It's boring and tedious, but then it's no worse than trying to do other unique or repeatables.

Do the Gusgen Mines Map quest as well while you're in Bastok, you'll need it later.

/em is going to slit his own throat if he has to do one more friggin' quest.

I turned in about 10 stacks of cabbage to the Melyon in Selbina, with no discernable effect to my fame in SandOria. In fact the fame guy said he has never heard of me. Any confirmed idea as to how many stacks and what cities this cabbage quest will give fame to. Also I had my mule toon buy the cabbage in Windy at the culinery place for 216 gil per stack, this equals 90 gil per every 5 cabbages. Melyon gives 100 gil for 5 cabbages. That is a net of +10 gil per 5 cabbages. At least I made money doing this. (albeit not enough to retire on!)

Wild Onion in Bastok must be turned in between 12:00 and 17:00 for you to obtain 350 gil. Can turn in any time for 100 gil.

Windurst is my home nation. I farmed cornetts and Yuhtunga sulfur and made quite a profit. Lot on that three leaf in kazham as well. It's 1200 in the mandragora mad quest. You can only hold one of each three, four leaf or yuhtunga sulfur, but you can hold infinite amounts of cornettes.

Sandoria took a little while. Bat wings from Ronpaurre's tomb. With a lvl 15 thief sub you make quite a profit from 100 gil a wing.

Bastok, I'm still working on dem as well lol.
