In the 'Greatest Mage Post Ever', there is a section on gemming your mage that doesn't exist. Here's my quandry. I just dinged 80 on my mage and have been running some TotC and such. Got a really nice chest from there and it has 2 blue sockets.... Do I ignore color and stick +hit gems in there? My hit is an abysmally low 157.

You don't gem for hit.

Is your meta gem requirement already done (chaotic skyflare requires 2 blue gems).

What is the socket bonus on the chest piece?

If your meta is done and the socket bonus isn't spectacular I would put two spellpower gems (rare/epic, whatever).

My armory now. It's the chest from heroic TotC.

I have a rule of thumb, if the piece is epic, then the gem should be too. ;-)

Alrighty, well right now you don't have a helm with a meta gem slot. So once you get that you can regem. Get two spellpower gems on there.

Your wrist enchant should be spellpower, always.

What's with the +10 stats gem in the belt? Should be spellpower.

Legs aren't enchanted either, could at least get a cheapy one.

Anobix;

Thanks for the pointers... I fixed some of the stuff. Got me a gladiator's hat today, so I have a meta gem now. ;-) Thanks a ton. Got my enchanting up as well and put enchants on rings, bracers, weapon... ;-)

Have a great one! I appreciate you and Pol's helpful advice. GO MAGESOCK.
