CoS + Vanish question.Follow

I am just curious as to these 2 moves.

Is CoS and Vanish attached to the same CD so if you use Vanish or CoS it sets their own CD off or is it something different?

I am just curious because one of my guildies plays in our 2v2 and 3v3 arena team and I notice he rarely pops either in the arena. Maybe knowing he isn't going to win against said player due to the damage intake?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

Thank you.

No they do not share a cooldown, and any rogue who is losing in an arena and doesn't try to vanish to regain some semblance of balance needs to L2P.

The only time I don't Vanish in arena is if I have a bleed on me and I know it's not going to work. Even then I'll sometimes try to time the vanish right after a bleed tick to get 2-3 seconds of stealth time and maybe get a cheap shot off.

Cloak of Shadows is an almost necessary skill to use when fighting a warlock, mage, or shadow priest. Wait until they have all of their DOTs stacked, hit Cloak of Shadows and voila, all the dots go away, they can't apply any more to you for 5 seconds, and they most likely can't root/fear yiou for 5 seconds as well.

There's a reason people call Cloak of Shadows "Cloak of Skill" and "Cloak of Warlock Killing".

Bigdaddy pretty much hit it on the nose. A dying rogue should almost always vanish if he/she is not suffering from bleed effects. It will buy them a few seconds to gain stability, and, time/positioning allowed, eat or bandage out of sight of the opponent. As for CoS. It's DoT insurance. Better to use it when your opponent has you stacked with a ton of them, wiping them away, further buying you time and increasing your longevity. If I find I'm getting beat senselessly by 5 allies at once in a bg, if no bleeds are on me, its ingrained in my brain to CoS/Vanish asap. Your guildy should utilize CoS and Vanish more in arena to help survivability. If he as Preperation, mention it to him to keep an eye on that move as well, as it allows for another vanish if **** hits the fan.

Tell your guildie to pull his head out of his *** and start using Vanish offensively. Vanish to get a sap if the other team uses Perception; Vanish if you're getting kited and your ShS cooldown isn't up. Vanish if there's an incoming Fear/Poly/Cyclone.

If you only use Vanish as a defensive move, you're going to be stuck in the 1500s forever.

Ok I will recommend it to him. I just wanted to ask some more experienced members of the rogue community before stepping on his playground so to say.

Watching some of Neilyo's pvp videos, it clearly showed me vanish was meant to be used defensively AND offensively as situation calls for it.

Offensive vanishing is a beautiful thing.

And why wouldn't you use vanish in EVERY arena match? o_O
