I bought this for 900g the other day, which is cheaper than normal. For PvP, is this worth using over the Crystalforged Axe? I'd have liked a sword to start PvPing with, but there are no blue or epic BoE 2handers that I've seen and it will be a while before I can blacksmith myself one.

So I'm relegated to Axe spec until I can get the arena points for a zweihander. Is using the Singing Crystal Axe pointless? Or will it be a good start for my PvP career?

well, as a MS warrior and for pvp, 5% chance to get another hit isnt going to help you much for pvp/arena, i find maces the best specialization for pvp

yes, BE males do dance like a euphorical enthusiast at a gay pride parade.
And yes, both BE sexes look a bit androginous.
If you are still thinking "omfg you're stupid for making a BE they look horrible" maybe you should go create a NE and have her pole-dance naked so you can do something smart like twiddling your privates.

that 5% to deal extra damage is actually better than crit imo. Sure mace stuns, and that's great. But when players are putting on tons of resilience, your massive crit stat just became meaningless. No stat prevents you from procing an extra attack. And you can remove that chance stun with skills or trinkets.

That ax is fine for starting pvp.

No one in their right mind would trinket a mace stun proc in the arena.

1) It's too hard to telegraph as it's proccing randomly

2) Human reacting time would make trinketing the mace stun absolete for the 1-2 second left of the duration.

3) Everyone saves their trinket for much more crucial CC, be it blind, sheep, cyclone, fear, etc.

For PvP it's Mace > Sword > Axe.

You might have misunderstood me.

I didn't say sword was better.

You interpreted that.

To put what I said another way;

"You can passive talent prevent stuns, and use numerous on demand abilities and trinkets to remove/prevent stun".

Which IS true. Does it say that sword is better? No. When I wrote;

Quote:
No stat prevents you from procing an extra attack.

I'm also correct. I can even amend that to, only avoidance can prevent it. But avoidance works on ax spec as well as mace spec.

Devious is right, and besides all that, maces is (whattyaknow) getting nerfed thanks to uncontrollable procs being overpowered and blizz putting in a weapon that can proc a four second stun. Good job blizz, nerf a spec no one has had problems with, rather than 2 weapons that have a chance on hit stun. We're getting nerfed for being lucky guys...

But in response to the OP, the axe is really nice. The haste proc (though that's getting nerfed today I believe, dunno, had to DL a patch, saw notes, made me sad) is extremely nice. Lowering a weapon's speed increases overall damage by alot, and when your hitting for 1k, making it go from 3.6 to 2.~something, is just alot scarier for the people your smackin' it with ;D

Since you already bought the axe it will be a good enough start.
The weapon i chose to start PvP with was the Felsteel Reaper.
