I have had mind soothe for 10 levels now and I have not used it once. Is there ever a use for this ability or should I take it of my bar right now?

I have used MS loads, its useful for sneaking past mobs, and its great for when you need to Mind Control mobs, MC range is low so you MS move in close and then MC.

Don't forget you can MS multipls mobs, which can me handy when running from a gank you ms as you go and then the ganker gets attacked and not you :)

I would spend a bit of time seeing just how close you can get normally and then do a MS you will be amazed at the difference.

It's also useful when picking herbs and minning.

I agree with the above poster.

Mind soothe is useful when you need to Mind Control and don't want to risk getting agro.

I will say there is ONE place where it is helpful and that is Sethekk Halls. There is a part kind of toward the back of the instance where it looks like you can skip past the mobs if you just stick to the left and go through the door...nope. They always always agro if people do that. So I always just mind soothe before anyone can make that mistake and keep mind soothing until everyone is through the door.

It's also funny because theres always someone who doesn't know or remember and after a wipe or something tries to shimmy past to the left...and dies.

Can't mind soothe be resisted and thereby pulling agro to the caster?

I'm not quite sure what the mechanics are but I've never seen it happen.

Yes It can be resisted, not sure how often it is though (rare).

I used it loads when doing the MC trick in SV and I kill 100's to get rep and only a few (10 or so) resisted.

Yes, mind soothe can be resisted, your chances are affected by your +hit rating on your gear..... not much + hit rating on healing gear, as you can imagine, and as I've found out to my chagrin.

Just to clear it up, WHEN it is resisted it draws aggro.

That it does. Accidentally clicking Mind Soothe on the first pulls in The Eye when you don't have targets set up = fun times.

I have never personally had mind soothe resisted, so I kind of just figured it couldn't be. Sounds like you found out the hard way :)

That reminds of back in the day raiding Molten Core when a warlock in the group somehow aggroed a boss and like 5 adds with his eye of kilrog. It was one of those funny, but not really funny moments of raiding.
