Ok, my favorite class is hunter, because I have 3 hunters: Dwarf level 12 Teddyursa, Nuetral <whom is not very> lvl 31 tauren hunter, and my level 22 Night Elf hunter Nojiko. I love the pets I tame but happen to lose them alot because I have a habbit of abandoning them quite fast. Anyway, here are my pet's names.

The Hunter.
Originally my Hunter's name was Malt, as in the ingredient used for making beer. He's a Dwarf so naturally he had to be named after an alcoholic beverage. I changed his name though, because I went on the KOS list of multiple Horde end-game guilds for speaking ill words about one of their guild leaders and his lust for camping people in his AQ epics.
I had a lot of trouble figuring out what I wanted to name him after. Though I'm not a religious person, I do like the stories found within the various religions. So after reading a bit on the personification of death (Death), I decided to go with Memitim, which is the term used for "destroyer" as seen in the biblical Book of Job.
1st Pet: Madame.
My Hunter's first pet he stuck to for more than two levels was a black cat from Stranglthorn Vale. Though I'm not really fond of the cat design (I prefer wolves), cats do enjoy fish and Memitim does enjoy fishing a lot (with Alchemy and Cooking, what else?)
Madame can be quite bossy if she feels neglected and so Memitim constantly provides a steady stream of fish for her. Madame is just a cute name for a female cat, in my opinion.
2nd Pet: Asura.
Memitim's VERY first pet was a Snow Leopard from Dun Morogh, named Kit. Unfortunately, Kit died. However, Memitim discovered that the bond they shared was so powerful, not even death could seperate them. Thus Asura chose to remain in the world as a ghost to help out Memitim.
The name Asura is taken from the Hindu mythology where the Asura were power-hungering demons. Asuras were also referred to as "fighting ghosts".
The fun thing about Asura is that I tamed her from the Ghost Saber in northern Darkshore, which is semi-transparent. So she's also semi-transparent, even after I tamed her.
(You can get this pet by gathering Cat Figurines from the ruins in northern Darkshore. This will spawn Ghost Saber which will attack you (Feign Death). Once tamed, be aware that the Ghost Saber will eventually die because it's a "summoned" creature and is supposed to despawn if you don't tame it. Just revive it and you're good to go!)

Oh yeah, since my Orc Hunter retired from action, I found some pets with my Night Elf. I was rollin' with a bear first, and named her Aiyana. At around Level 38, I wanted to try something different, so I picked up a Stranglethorn Tigress and named her Sagiri. I've been rollin' with her since.
I don't want to bite, but are you still using the name Malt? I'd like to use it for my next Hunter, and name the pet Liquor.

My pet is Navarre, he's a Nightsaber and he's been with me since I tamed him at his lvl of 9. We are both now 45.
I just made an alt and her pet will be named Nebula because her name is Oriah :)

Okay, I seem to have gotten hooked on acquiring new pets. I'm now at my max of three, and wish I could get more. My latest is a Plagued Swine from EPL. Since it's undead pork, I called it Rancid. 
I know what you mean, W. I just got another pet tonight.
A Vilebranch Raiding Wolf from Hinterlands (the ruins there). Was hard to get because you have to infiltrate a troll infested city of some sort. And they're elites in the middle.
Anyways, got my beauty and Dash 3 + Bite 7.
Only downside is that wolves don't eat fish (what's up with that, by the way?) and so my spare fish are now vendor trash instead of free pet food.
Oh, I named this guy Harbinger.

My first pet was a Durotar Crocolisk named Snappy, of all things! I then got a Nightsaber from Stonetalon Peak when I was in my mid-20s, which I named Noodles, after my cat which at that point had not run away. My current pet is Takk the Leaper, a rare spawn raptor in The Barrens, who's name just popped into my head when I tamed him: Chunky. I also have a Coralshell Lurker which I use as my tank, and his name is Sherman, after the English made, you've guessed it, tank.

Had a spider was named ElfMuncher; kitty named DwarfSkewer; raptor named GnomeDicer; and a carrion bird name HumanGorger.
Right now, I have a swamp jaguar named DraneiKiller and, my most original name yet: Brooken Tooth, named, well, BrokenTooth. :D I'm so clever. :q
