For those of you doing BWL and AQ40, what are you maintaining as far as RAP, Crit %, Hit %?

It is very easy for us to achieve near 30% crit rate but at what point do you think it tops off? I currently sit at +9% Hit, 27ish crit and almost 1400RAP unbuffed. We have a wide choice of weapons to choose from, Brutality Blade/CHT/Doom's Edge/Chromatically tempered Sword/Main Hand Hakkari/Off Hand Hakkari/Fang of Faceless. Which weapons to you typically use for the stats and why? I know Rooke put up an insightful post on how defense lowers our crit rate, so at what point is crit % needed to be to maintain above 25% on a 63 elite? I use 25% crit because it is basically a 1 in 4 crit where are anything less is approaching 1 in 5. In the short term for fights that last only a minute or so and the mob needs to be dispatched it can make a difference with 4 other hunters shooting it as well.

My gear is currently DS helm/legs/shoulders/wrist
GS Chest/feet/waist/hands
Cloak of shrouded mists
Brut Blade and the new +13 agi weapon from the silithus quest.
DM trinket and Blackhand's Breadth trinket.
Quick strike ring and mason's Fraternity ring

I'm still gearing up in a sense but what is the experience of those who are at the top of the raiding pyramid so to speak.

Thanks

Level 63 would have about 315 defense, normally. The extra 15 defense vs. 300 weapon skill would lower your crit rate 0.6% (0.04% per point). For Dwarves using guns or Trolls using bows, it'd be a 0.4% difference.

My crit rate is usually in the 26-28% range, depending on buffs. I've never really striven for crit %, nor shunned it, so I'd say if you have more you may be over-emphasizing it for PvE.

My profile needs updating so I can't tell you my current AP off the top of my head, but it was at or about 1600 at the raid the other day (with Kings and all the other jazz, plus a 15 agi potion.) I think it's around 1350 with just Hawk.

I used the first two melee weapons off that list I was able to obtain without pissing off the rogues and warriors in the guild. I got a Doom's Edge, and then a Core Hound Tooth the day after. The best combo for raw DPS is usually MH Hakkari and FotF, but anything off that list is fine except, I would say, the Chromatically Tempered Sword. (That's a total sword rogue or fury warrior weapon.)

Full GS, have passed on DS pieces for guildmates
CoSM
BB + DE
DM trinket and BB
Circle of Applied Force + Jin rings (AQ faction pending)
Prestor's Talisman

Need to retest my old Scarlet Monastery and Tyr's Hand data.

A mongoose potion and the Blasted Lands' Scorpok Assay should be a little more than enough to keep your crit rates at or above pre raid buff levels.

Could be wrong, but me believe a 63 elite would have more than 315 defense. Their is another way to look at this. If hunters say/claim you need +8 To Hit to have very good accuracy. That would mean that the monsters can have as much as (*1) 375 defense since defense adjusts crit rates and To Hit in an equal amount.

This would also seem to imply that a 63 elite with 375 defense would have 25 defense per level (75 defense divided by 3 levels). More mysteries than answers, sorry. Need to go back and retest my old SM and TH data to narrow this down.

(*1)

 +8 To Hit desired
- 5% (To acccount for base To Hit)
+3 To Hit needed for targets defense.

3 To Hit divided by 0.04 penalty = 75 defense over hunters weapon skill.

RAP: 1523
Crit: 24%
Hit: 6%

I still need Drake Fang Talisman and will be neutral in another week with the Brood so I will be adding 3% to hit in the very near future.

As far as crit%, Rooke said it best. Scorpok Assay and Mongoose Potions should be a staple in your pack for raids.

Scorpid Assay should never be an essential. Too much work to farm one, and if you die, it's gone. The only time you would really want to put that work in is to put you over the edge on an encounter you are learning and very well could die.

I have enough mats for Skorpok Assay to last me another year, the only pain is traveling there to turn them in.

I normally do it right before the raid so I can get the buff, get the Assay in my pack, then get summoned to the raid.

The mats for the Assay stack in 20 and they are dropable. You just have to plan ahead playa =P

EDIT:

With Mongoose pot and Assay, it brings me up to 1673 RAP, self buffed, over 1800 RAP fully raid buffed with 30% crit.

You are a model citizen to farmers everywhere. That stuff takes forever to put together.

The one time I farmed for a BL buff, I was pretty sure I only got the potion and not the buff added to it. You only get the buff from turning it in the first time.

You're right, I had a brain lapse, I turned it in, used it then turned another one in.

The only real hard part is the scorpid claws, which I have 4 stacks of 20 on my alt from when I was leveling up in the zone way back when.
