I haven't paid terrible attention to the cooldown fix yet, but already I'm loving the pet speed change. My pet (I'm level 27 right now, with Humar) actually outruns me with Aspect of the Cheetah on, and needs to momentarily stop. He regularly runs with most of his body ahead of me, and even in the usual spots I've had it occur, hasn't been distanced enough to despawn yet.

Dumb question, but what is Humar?

I have hunter alt, lvl 11, and he has the Rake.

What type is Humar? What levelis he? Where is he found?

Thanks!

Humar The Pridelord, a 23 elite black lion in the Barrens.

He spawns under a tree just northwest of Ratchet, and only once every 8 to 12 hours (I've heard a few in between, but never one for sure).

TY Torowow,

Question. I have read the Rake has attack speed of 1.2

So does the Humar just run faster than the Rake?

And if so, is his attack speed the same?

(how do the 2 compare besides rareness and color?)

Thanks again.

Humar is 1.3, so slightly slower, but The Rake does slightly less damage. It balances.

The Rake is very plain, looks like any other lion. Humar is the only black lion I know of. I once saw a post that ranked how "hardcore" a Hunter with a cat is as: Low - Nightsaber, Mid - The Rake, High - Humar the Pridelord.

I don't know the stat match ups, though, since mine aren't the same level.

I tamed almost ever pet up to about lvl 20, and here is how they compare...

Feral Moonstalker vs Moonstalker
Feral Moonstalker at lvl 15 does 11.7 DPS with a 1.5 attack speed. A regular Moonstalker doest 12.2 DPS with a 1.3 attack speed at the same lvl.

Feral Moonstalker vs The Rake
Feral Moonstalker at lvl 10 and 11 does 8.7 and 9.4 DPS (respecitvly) while The Rake does 8.7 and 8.9 at the same lvls.

Humar vs Moonstalker
Humar does 14.6 DPS at lvl 24 (with beast spec for that lvl). At the same lvl, a Moonstalker does 19.2 DPS

All of these pets have fast run speed as far as I can remember (with Beastial swiftness my Moonstalker is as fast as an epic mount).

Overall, you can see why I chose the Moonstalker. For those of you ever CONSIDDERING King Bang, don't. His DPS at lvl 43 was about 27 or so while my Moonstalker at 1 lvl lower was 38 or so. You're gaining 5-10% run speed but losing 25% of its DPS.

Moonstalkers (from darkshore) are also a heck of a lot more common than those rare spawns too.

If you really check it out, those DPS numbers balance. They're designed that way.

While some may do more per second, in 6 seconds they may only attack 3 times while another attacks 4. 12 seconds, that's 2 extra attacks, and so on.

There is a lot of controversy about pets, their DPS, attack speed and damage but at the end of the day, I believe you should get whatever you like. I got Bhag'Thera and trained her in Dash, bite, Claw and Growl, holds aggro like a magnet and we are great together. Most pets are evenly balanced enough for you to get the job done and keep you alive. I don't want to abandon this panther any time soon, everyone has King Bangalash at the moment. I like my black kitty.

I posted a side-by-side stat comparison of King B and Humar a while back along with screens of their pet screen.

Humar essentially has the same stats as a Moonstalker, his glory is in his unique black lion skin. He is the only black lion in the game.

I'm enjoying the new run speed fix of the pets and find that my Bishop (Humar) does need to pause a moment so I can catchup to him.

I've also noticed that Dash stopped working. I toggle it off and on depending on whether or not I need to save focus for anything, and I'm already missing it when I want/need it.

Regarding the fixed run speed of pets, I find that my pet Rake still lags behind me. My Bear does not, however, and tends to stay just behind me and to my left. If he does lose his pathing for a moment, he catches up. The Rake does not.

What's odd to me is that the other hunters I see in game have their pets running *ahead* of them. I'm just wondering I guess whether I'm the only one.

BTW this character is level 18, Rake is 16, Bear is 14.

Edit: Saw this in another post and it reminded me. The Rake is no longer running at his prepatch speed into mobs when I send him in. I run as fast as or perhaps just a bit slower than he does when I send him. Pre-patch he was MUCH faster. Working as intended?

Remember, what you see on your screen and what the other person sees is completely different. I have never seen a hunter running with a pet lagging way behind. Even at the worst possible times when mine was ready to despawn, all the other hunters were running hand in paw with their pets. In fact, most pets ran in front of them. That is because the information is being sent to us 'after' it has happened with the hunter. We see what the server is saying is 'supposed' to be happening. Since the lag and despawn was never 'supposed' to happen, the server sending information to us didn't take it into account and we see what should be happening.

On the same note, it seems the pathing and run speed problems have been fixed much better. Also, I have tried jumping off places where there is no pathing, and although there might be a bit of hesitancy, as I turn around, I see my pet "jumping" right behind me. He no longer looks for the 'safe' route down. So perhaps the *****-ups with the pet pulling the whole place to us has been resolved. Others should check this out however. I was in Needles and jumping off the bridges and paths around the monoliths. (Is it mono-lith if there are more than one?) :)

i tamed a few different cats and bears eariler to compare their stats.

my conculsion is now, it wasnt like this in the past i know, but now if you have a cat of any kind the DPS should be the same for an equal lvl cat, the only variations are the attack speed. Same goes for all the other stats, they should all be the exact same.

the only good part of a slower attacking cat is that his crits are higher, but they dont crit all that often unless you have the talents so its not a huge deal anyway.

as far as pathing goes, my cat 90% of the time stays with me even when i have cheeta on, but sometimes if i take off running and its behind me when istart moving it doesnt catch up, but it never falls further behind, so i dont loose it all i have to do is stop for a second so it can get next to me again and all is well. i havent lost my pet from running since the patch came out.

If I still have my nightsaber at level 60, does that mean I'm not hardcore?
