WoW is kinda like DII LOD and i was wonderin if i can pimp out a priest. i mean like can i max out certain talents to make him simple to use and like rip thru enemy ranks? if not can u tell me the best class to go GOD style?

i mean like in DII ther wer guyz called hammer palladins and they maxed out like 4 skillz and cud kill anything cuz thier attak strength was like 2000-15000 and they cud attak like once evry 2 secs. so thats like 1000-7500 dmg a second!

i wanna know which guy is da best AND DONT TELL ME IT DEPENDS ON HOW I PLAY! ON AVERAGE which guy can i tank out? tell me the IGSACT talent/race/class/gear/stats i need to make a god char

There is no god like char, as there are more aspects to WoW as there are to D2. WoW is a MMORPG, that means there are several roles a player can fit. Some of them are:

- Tanking (withstanding getting hit)
- Damage Dealer (dealing out lot's of damage)
- Healing (well, healing ;))
- Crowd Control (handle additional attackers)

In addition, there is PvP vs. PvE, which has different "key" issues.

So, if you want to be the best damage dealer you might have to chose rogue for melee or mage for magic. If you want to be the toughest guy you might want to chose warrior or paladin. Shaman is a very versatile and very good class as well.

However, I doubt you will ever find what you are looking for in WoW based on your post. There simply is no god like char that can walk around and kill everything easily. If there were, everybody would chose it and the game would be no fun. There are, however, god like chars for a certain aspect. For example, a priest specified on holy talents is THE best healer hands down.

Also, if anyone ever finds a setup that would put a specific class above all others significantly, I bet Blizzard would change (nerf) it. Balance is the key to a success of a MMORPG and Inbalance is VERY deadly to it, opposed to Single Player Games, where Inbalance doesn't hurt it too much. It's more or less the same like chosing between easy - normal or hard game.

ok ok so if i want a PvE high damage dealer but i dont wanna be a warrior cuz thier energy constntly lowers and i dont wanna hav to flip thru talents evry few seconds what do u recomend?

i think a rogue or a mage but mages hav problems with takin dmg and they need lots o mana and i dont know much about rogues... can u just tell me which class i shud be and what kind o talents i shud up to get a high damaging, quick killing, PvE char that can handle at least 2 enemies at a time

Well, the mage has some very nice tools. First of all, he can cast a magic shield (frost armor) that even lowers the attack speed when he gets hit. In addition he gets Transfiguration (not sure if that's the real spell name) where he can morph an enemy into a sheep, stopping it from attacking. He can also summon food and drink so he regains mana and HP pretty fast. He's an excellent class to solo and probably THE main damage dealer in a group, if he watches the aggro ;)

The rogue on the other hand has some great advantages as well. He can stealth around and open from behind with Backstab and do a lot of damage. He get's dual wield and is like a killing machine. But at the same time, he has to watch his aggro as he doesn't have the armor or Hit Points of a warrior. Also since he offers a lot of abilities, he's pretty tough to play as there are a lot of styles you can chose from (keep enemies stunned, fast kills etc.). Oh and he also gets Sap, with which he can "put out" a standing enemy.

In my stomach I have the feeling that the mage suits you better. He gets some very nice damage spells that are fun to use because you see the huge numbers over the enemy. He is also very good in escaping bad situations (he can frost the attackers around him and run away or turn them into sheep) and he is independent regarding food and drink. The rogue is fun to play but needs exactly the flipping through skills which you don't like.

My advise would be: try a mage for 10 or 15 levels, then do the same for the rogue. Then pick what you like more. I guess it's the mage though.

no, this isnt like d2 at all. MMO's are much different then d2. you actually depend on other people in this game unlike in d2. there is no way to build a god char, and whoever says paladin your stupid because paladins are not god chars, people just whine about them because they have a shield (which priests also have). But if your looking for a serious dd that can take stuff out real quick in pvp and pve, i would suggest taking a look at the mage or the rouge forums. Although, a shadow priest can kill stuff prettttttty quick ;)

EDIT: lol woops, just read the post right before this one (props to Ellegon). I just basically said the exact same thing :P

Judging by your posts, you should be a rogue. You seem like the kind of guy who'd get the reputation as a priest that wastes all his mana on attack spells in a group, or the mage that goes all out to get aggro and die (ie, you sound like you'd suck at both those jobs and end up blacklisted by everyone). Oh, and if someone like you joined my guild, I'd quit. Your posts make you look like a moron and the kind of guy that everyone hate in MMORPG. Your best bet is to create a new Allakhazam's account and try again. Seriously, I've never seen such stupid posts and you're obvioulsy not suited for the social apsect of a MMORPG.

A few things you should know before you start a new thread.

1.) The game is out of circulation for now. No Blizzard has not said when it will start up again. Yes it sucks. They are trying to make the game better overall by doing this, so suck it up and bear with them. There is a press release here for those of you interested. If you do decide to try and get it, EBgames seems to be a place that you can get it off and on as of late. You just might get lucky.

2.) This game is not: FFXI, EQ, EQ2, CoH, SWG or ANY other MMORPG on the market. So making endless (and I mean endless) posts about WoW vs all the other games is pointless. Stop it, it's getting old.

3.) There is no "best race or class". Some classes excel in certain areas and suck in others. They all have their strong and weak points. All races are the same after level 10, it does not matter which race/class combination you choose, you will not be "gimped" for your choice.

4.) There is currently no Honor system in the game. So the level ?? player that just ganked you, recieved absolutely no penalty. There will be rewards put into place for PvP in the future and you will be able to gain Honor for killing higher level players. There will never be a penalty for killing lower levels though.

5.) I realize many of you came from FFXI. I myself left FFXI for this game. THIS IS NOT FINAL FANTASY XI. If you want to talk about that game, go to those forums. Myself and many others are sick of hearing yet another post on the WORLD OF WARCRAFT forums about FFXI.

6.) It's spelled Rogue, not rouge. The definitions are as follows:

Rogue

A). An unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person; a scoundrel or rascal.
B). One who is playfully mischievous; a scamp.
C). A wandering beggar; a vagrant.
D). A vicious and solitary animal, especially an elephant that has separated itself from its herd.
E). An organism, especially a plant, that shows an undesirable variation from a standard.

Rouge

A.) A red or pink cosmetic for coloring the cheeks or lips.
B.) A reddish powder, chiefly ferric oxide, used to polish metals or glass.

7.) Please use proper punctuation, grammar and spelling. This is a nice way to get your point across and you can avoid rate-downs. Personally, if something's so mauled I can't read it, I either A) Ignore it, or when I'm in a bad mood, B) Rate down and ignore.

8.) To cut down on the number of useless threads, the website you are on is Allakhazam. Over to your left (well, more like up and left) you will see many things. An item lookup, a bestiary, quest lookup, it's like a haven of goodies. Use these. If you can look up where the quest "Hidden Enemies" starts, please don't make a thread asking where it starts. Use your resources.

9.) You get smileys when you have premium. No there is not another way to use them unless you use ghetto emotes. You also get avatars (Those pictures under alot of posters names for those of you who didn't know) Premium is the only way to get both of these .

10.) You have to be a Scholar to rate people up or down. You get this by being rated up by others. Also you have to have more than 10 posts for others ratings to count on your name.

11.) For tradeskills questions go here.

12.) There is also an assortment of user written guides here. Things like, fishing, lockpicking, classes and more.

13.) All you people leaving FFXI go here and post your questions, comments or concerns. There is no need to start a new thread.

If you fail to pay attention to any of the above, do not complain, cry, whine, sob, sulk or throw a fit when you get flamed and/or karma bombed.

You say you don't group much, so that might be the reason why you haven't noticed it yet, but a LOT of people don't tolerate other players talking like you do. This includes removal from groups and guilds, being reported for spamming in /general or other channels, being ignored by players, being blacklisted by players, etc. If you posted using proper grammar, the difference in the replies you get would be huge. You'd see less bashing and more appropriate answers. I know people that listen to Eminem all day and do nothing but smoke pot and they don't act like asses. You can act like that all you want in real life, but in MMORPGs such behavior has NEVER been accepted.

Wow. You sure shut me the hell up. Ok, i would like to apologize to everyone for being an ***... As I stated several times before, I am a teenager so I must deal with horemones, not to mention I'm having my period. As for you (guy above me) I would like to say you are a very efficient and resourceful person so I would like to ask you a few questions:
What's FFXI and all those other capital letters you named?
Do you play WOW?
If so, could you teach me how to talk to people on it? Because frankly, I don't know how.
And last of all, do you have a girlfriend? Lol

LOL I don't even know my own age, it was my birthday about a month ago. I'm actually 16. ^^

And what does MMORPG mean?

1) FFXI=Final Fantasy Eleven (XI), its another MMORPG(Massivley Multiplayer Online ROle Playing Game.....see why we abbreviate it?) that many people switched over to WOW from.
2) yes, I play wow and im pretty sure the other guys/gals do too
3) hit enter, /t, hit space bar, type whoevers name you want to send a message too, hit space again then type your message and hit enter. hit enter, type /1, hit space then type your message and then everyone in the zone can hear you (dont abuse it, people dont like that). there are many other ways to communicate....but i wont go into them now theres to many.

To reply to your initial post since you've shown you are in fact quite capable of writing in clear english (and, I assume, a pro at veiled sarcasm), your best bet if you want to create a priest that suits your play-style is to make a "Shadow" priest. They're not as efficient a healer as the holy specced ones, but they deal significantly more damage and are one hell of a force in PvP. At a higher level, you can also use the remaining talent points to improve a few skills, like Power word : shield or Fortitude for a nice boost in hp and damage reduction. There's also nice gear out there that can be made or found to raise shadow magic damage, but you can find that stuff for any school of magic.

Since you plan to solo or duo with a tank, a Holy priest isn't your best option since they're quite possibly the slowest at killing out of every possible class/spec, and it gets boring fast (I play a discipline priest actually, but I assume it isn't much better as a holy priest). I prefer soloing with my mage over my priest since they deal a ton of damage and fights go by very quickly. The downside to a mage is the extended downtime and the fact that a couple of adds when not expected is almost certain death. Also, unless I'm missing something, mages that train in cold talents deal a lot less damage then a fire mage, but they live longer when things go bad.

Rogues are efficient soloers and groupers since they deal tons of damage and can efficiently bypass annoying mobs to get to the good stuff. They're also the most powerful instance farmers around, so they make quite a lot of cash. They also get to train in lockpicking and poison making which adds some variety to the usual 2 professions....

One thing is funny about this post, no one mentioned paladins! I bet it's because most people here play priests, but paladins are regarded by many as an overpowered class. They deal tons of melee damage (although this will change next patch when they fix Seal of the Crusader), they can take a beating better then any class, they can kill an amazing amount of stuff without downtime (no stopping to regenerate HP and mana), they can heal and have amazingly overpowered buffs (like a talent that raises every attribute by an amazing 10%), everyone wants them for instances, etc. At the moment, they are debatedly the most powerful class, and they get a free mount at level 40 (that's 90 gold you won't have to spend).
#16ArchAngelSammael, Posted: Feb 05 2005 at 7:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thank you. I realize that if I were more polite from the beginning that someone would have just awnsered my question like you just did. Again I would like to thank you for your simple yet imformative reply that told me everything I wanted to know. Noone has said anything about my signature yet though! I spent like a half hour perfecting it and keeping it short enough so that the computer wouldn't cut half of it off! And I repeat the question: if I were to follow around a lvl 60 character as he kills stuff with like a lvl 15 char and I was allied with him, would I get experiance even though I am not actually killing anything?

Since no one has mentioned Hunter's I'll put a plug in for them :) I play a holy spec priest and often duo with a hunter and I'm forever amazed by his class. Hunters get a pet (whatever beast you feel like taming in all of WoW) at lvl 10 and the pet lvls with the hunter. The hunter I duo with currently is only lvl 37 but his pet can hold aggro with a taunt ability while the hunter stands back and shoots.

That being said, hunters are more of a ranged attackers then a melee but can do amazing things while soloing.

Alright, I will get to your question arch, don't worry. First...to the person i quoted...Your right and wrong. My only real complaint is your "overpowering buffs" comment and your "everyone wants them for instances" one.

First, the blessing your talking about is Blessing of Kings...Mark of the Wild. Enough said.

Next, about everyone wanting them for instances.....I sure as hell don't. I play both a paladin and a priest, and as my priest, give me a good warrior anyday. Granted, i have to heal a little more, but guess what? I can, because a warrior is simply better at holding hate then a paladin. Not to say a paladin can't, but a warrior is simply better. To compound maters, a good 80% of paladin's I've played with have a "I R teh best, cuz I r god!" attitude thing going on...and wonder why the priestess who's armor consists of magically enhanced jeans and a t-shirt dies after they charge into a group of 4+ mobs....not to say thats a paladin-only sentiment, but so far, it seems to be one most of them share, unfortunantly.

Now, to the original question, I'd say pick hunter. It takes a bit to get into the swng of things, but once you do, that class can bring some decent damage to the table. Even better, some elite mobs can be tamed, so bring a priest friend to regrowth you, and try charming an elite your level or one or two lower {be careful with this, I think-and feel free to correct me if wrong, I didn't play hunter long, wasn't my style-but if you lose agro, you stop charming the mob...so basically ask for a power word-shield and pray ^^}

I just had to jump in here and remind everyone that there is a method for respeccing talent points that does not involve rerolling your character.

See any priest trainer to "unlearn your talents" for a marginal fee.

Coulda swore you asked about *any* class that would be godly, but anyways. Why do people keep helping this kid? hehe You guys have hearts of gold. He has more mood swings and random outbursts of stupidity than a pregnant Schizo.

My advice. Go back to counter-strike, download a couple of wall hacks, rename yourself "G@wD_K!LLZ" and be done with it.

To the paladin as god's debate. I played a pld for a while (45 levels) and yah they are pretty damned good. I didn't think I was a godly char because in a party, I knew i wasn't a great tank (I almost always had best blues for my level) and i would mostly use crusader to keep hate, but when that failed as it often did, i'd use fury, which meant my DPS went down a lot, and sometimes that didn't even work. Knowing that gimped out class we all refer to as the Warrior class CAN and SHOULD out tank me always kept me humbled in pts because as a hybrid class, i never felt like i really brought a major aspect to the party. That being said, in pvm solo, I can take on 2 mobs my level fairly easily, just takes a while now. I see priests my level kill faster than me (i am assuming shadowpriests) fighting the same mobs.

Oh and blessing of Kings? nobody uses that solo unless they are more focused on casting or somethin, and should probably be druids not plds. Blessing of wisdom = less downtime, blessing of might = faster kills, but must regen more mana and actually more downtime than wisdom.

Though i've only played priest to 16 as of this post, i've teamed and known a quite a few up to 50, and they seem to be one of the better overall classes in the game (along with pld/rogue) in terms of pvp and pvm. In mass pvp, i think priests shine way more than any other class does singlehandedly, at least from my experience. and that's why I'm leveling mine up now.

And that is my random long post for the day. The original poster was overall an idiot, but he seemed to draw some pretty intelligent people to his post. Good input, i'll be sure to use a lot of it while building my priest. thanks.
