I'm wondering if anyone has a Felhunter yet, and if so what can you tell us about it? I'm just doing the quest now but haven't completed it. Is it useful, what can you tell us?

I myself do have a Felhunter, as a level 34 warlock, its not the best of pets in most cases it deals average damage (from what ive noted its less then an imp or succubus) and can take hits fairly well(better then the succubus but not as well as voidwalker), but against mobs that either use magic debuffs or buffs on themselves, its decent, at 32 the felhunter also can be trained with a skill called "tainted Blood" that is an attack reducer that works like a damage shield would, when an enemy hits it, it gets a -17 attack debuff, this can stack up to 5 times though I dont know how long they last (average fight shouldnt be that long anyway) in pvp situations at this level, i find the imp more usefull because of its ability to deal large amounts of damage, and no soul shard wasted when he dies, although against enemies that are either causing trouble with negative magics or are simply too strong because of buffs, the Felhunter would be a nice pet to have ready.

I am 99% positive that at the higher levels when I'm able to train the felhunter in its better abilities it will be much more usefull, but for now, its just something to show off, unless of course the right situation comes up.

I just got it. It's primarily meant to be used against magic users. It's first ability, Consume Magic, eliminates a debuff on you or a buff on the mob and heals the Felhunter. It's difficult to use so far, I still find Voidwalker to be the best "all around" for solo-ing. You would think such a ferocious beast would be a damage dealer- that's succubu's role, unfortunately. It's more of a utility pet.

Yeah, I have the felhunter now, and don't find it that useful. I'm on a PvP server and actually find the Succubus by far to be the most useful pet. She deals out ok damage, and combined with curse of weakness can take some hits. The most useful thing though is her seduction. When I get jumped by a couple of alliance freaks, I can seduce one, then fear dot the other. The ability to essentially mez, has saved my life on quite a few occassions.

Ya, that is the impression I got from some warlocks on Illidan. They said the Felhunter is good for the purpose he seems to be intended for, and should not be considered an end all type pet.

For those on Illidan server do a /join warlock

Pretty good channel that usually has a handful of warlocks in it.

Depends on the situation really. Felhunter is usefull in pvp vs casters and priest. It can dispell a priests damage shield so that is a wonderfull addition. Also you get stealth detect later on, so its really good for group pvp. Don't see much use for it in PVM situations.

I use my fellhunter in areas with lotsa casters. Next time you summon him hit "C" and look at its resists (they should be pretty high). Very usefull in debuffing spells of caster types and in the same moment healing himself with the debuff. He can also eat any magical debuff of you or a party member and again healing himself further. Of course if you don't have a good healer...or a good tank in highly populated areas he can die very quikly. Best thing to do is use all your pets and learn what you and any of the pets are capable of doing, and most importantly letting you party know you need to switch pets out for certain ancounters.

I use my Felhunter quite often though not nearly as muc as my VW.

I find that it can be usefull in many situations with a marginally good damage output and some useful abilities. It's good against other casters that use lots of DoTs. Though i dont have many of his abilitie despite what others may say he's rather usefull.
Though i really hate Names of them.

Well the 'Felhunters' in Desolace aren't actually called Felhunters, they're mana eaters or something else. They hang out with other demons in Monoroc Coven (or something like that) in the far south of the zone. Why exactly are you looking for them anyway...do you just want to see them or what?

Not called Felhound ? d'oh....mana eater ? Will look for such a thing any clue what it looks like ?

Tired of this quest but still looking.

I've started to use the Felhunter more often now. I'm a level 32 Warlock. And I love him against melee classes. I send him in, let him take a hit or 2 (debuffing the mob 17 attack power each time), the pile on the dots and dd's.
By the time I get aggro, the mob has 5 debuffs on him, and is coming at me with -85 attack power. Even a warlock can stand against that.
Seems to work well so far.

The Felhunter also has a counter-spell skill. they are great for PvP against magic users, especially priests. who are ****** from the get go, against a warlock.

But damn, succubus' seduction, combined with fear. its almost broken. first aid is a great skill to invest in as a warlock. while the enemy is taking a 15 second gaze at my baby I can be healing us both, then fearing... again.

At 50, I have found the felhunter almost useless. I have stuck to the succubus mostly post 35. Voidwalker can't hold agro anymore and really I am a better tank now with drain mana than it is.

I think the felhunter was a good idea, but just isn't parctical. Higher end casters can ae etc and my felhunter dies way fast. Also, it isn't very smart. The succubus will automatically seduce an add, the felhunter just doesn't cast like it knows what it is doing. As for damage, it does practically none.

Really? My succubus has never done this. I've had to direct her to every time.

Right click the seduce button so it has a white border round it. Then put it on "defensive" and it will automatically seduce any adds.

Right now at lvl 35 i'm in STV and i've found this pet useful for several quests I've done. They absolutely own the Kurzan Medicine Men and the Venture Co. Geologists. Now keep in mind folks he has no taunt so watch ur aggro, or just be patient with the fight. I just look for when these mobs buff themselves and have him eat it when he needs the heal. Takes a little longer but come out of the fights full health/mana.

It's also good if you need to kill anything green. Tag it, hit weakness and then with his tainted blood i've seen him reduce the dmg to 1-2. Waiting to see how his other skills change things but 'til then he's still on my list of options. Open areas i like to fear kite w/ imp. Close areas or w/ mobs that are very social it's the VW. If i'm taking on mage/priest/druid type mobs, it's the felhunter. Farming up greys or in a group it's the succubus, or when i pvp my hunter friend.(succi CC him and then fear kite his pet)

well, with the paranoia bug, they are the BEST tank in the game on a PvE server, as it's nigh impossible to pull hate off them. but, that probably won't be around much longer; ;.
If that gets removed, i'll most likely go back to my imp or my succy for the added dark pact mana/dps/CC.
Oh, and Slomover, I had the same thing happen to me, got booted when Strehan summoned the circle and missed my chance. Just abandon the quest, you can reactivate it at the point where he's just about to summon the circle.
