General notes on all items:
Ifrit's Cauldron CAN be mined safely and successfully if you know what you are doing, and are alert and safe at all times. I've been mining it on and off for over a month now, and while I have died several times, each and every time was due to a direct mistake that I made. It is dangerous - there's no real questioning that.
Don't bother going there unless you take several (4-5) stacks of pickaxes, a stack of silent oil, and at least a stack of prism powder, and don't go there unless you have a whm or rdm at 25+. A NIN sub helps as well, for Tonko, in which case bring plenty of shinobi-tabi, but isn't strictly necessary (I don't have it, and I still do just fine).
Get a map of it (plenty of links posted already), learn it, understand it, and use it - pick a route where you hit all the mining points, though if Ifrit's is busy and you're not feeling particularly limber you can sometimes get away with camping a few of the more packed, closer potential spots. I wouldn't go there without mining gear.
The majority of the spots are easy - just make sure a bomb isn't passing by, cancel your invisibility, and mine away.
For the spots that are more heavily guarded, with bombs nearby, don't panic - these are still mineable. Just wait until a bomb has JUST stopped moving, and is facing away from you, cancel your invisibility, and mine three or four strikes, quickly. Then just run away from the bomb to a point where it's safe to cast, or use a prism powder. Cycle rinse repeat until the MP is gone.
Make sure you have sneak, invis, tonko, silent oil, and prism powder all macrod. If you don't, your hamstringing yourself.
Be patient and decisive, and you will eventually strike gold, or in this case, adaman.
You CAN get orichalcum ore there as well, which sells for around 90k on my server. It's extremely rare, though - I've only ever gotten one (as opposed to 10+ adaman).
You will die. But if you are patient, and smart, you will also eventually be rewarded.
