Bumping this, as I found it useful. Also, you can find colored stones in yughott grotto as well. I found a green and a blue there yesterday.

was only able to get like 3-4 successful digs from each spot. then it "dries" up. but while i ran down one tunnel (dead-end) and came back, i saw another person was there already digging away. maybe it 'dries' up for only you (similar to how the NPC only seems to talk to you all the time even tho others are standing facing him)

I don't know about this -- I've been in cases where this isn't the cases such as where I notice a mining spot, somebody gets there ahead of me, and there's nothing left.

mining is pretty fun though! guess since i just do it for the fun factor, ill stick around bastok mines since that's close to town. not to mention, do the rounds a few times and eventually ill know where the mine points a little better.

Zeruhn is probably the best low-mid level mine in the game because, like you said, it's right there in Bastok. However, you have to go elsewhere for the really hard-to-find ores (Mythril and Gold specifically).

BTW, can you mine in the Korrokka Cave (or however it's properly spelled. >.<) that is connected to Zeruhn Mines? Also, what about the 'oriental' ores who's names I can't think of hand -- where can we mine these up at?

    Quote:
can't imagine runnign all the way to palborough (where the mobs are also hostile) and then all the way back when you get full (and since those ore dont stack that's sure to be pretty soon)

I think the best thing to do would bring BLM up to 17 so you can use Warp and use it as a subjob when mining in one of the places that are farther away from a main city. Face it -- Yughott, Gusgen, and Palborough are all a long walk to & back and at some point the iron & zinc ore won't be worth it compared to other means of farming (provided you can't make stuff of those ores -- I'm a goldsmith, personally, so any zinc I mine is marked for brass ingots). But if you come home with a couple Gold or Mythril ores, it might be worth the walk.

    Speaking of Gusgen, what's the suggested XP LVL to go there? As a LVL 28 THF, most of the stuff in Zeruhn has long been worthless. Likewise with Yughott Grotto & Palborough and I've never been to Gusgen yet. I'm not sure how to get there.... ><;;

Thanks for the information, I myself am a lvl 21 red mage, and I mine constantly in Gusgen Mines, using Sneak^^. I had been wondering where to find the other ores, since gold is the best ore Ive gotten so far from G. Mines. But how about adamantium? Is that an ore that can be mined? And if so, from where?

Last night I was at Buburimu Peninsula, wandering around looking for the entrance to Shakhrami Maze, and on the northeast clifface near the sea there is a monument. It made mention that Orihalicon had once been mined in that area. When I was in Shakhrami I came to a room, and as my group was fighting, I was hitting tab to target an added mob, and my cursor picked up a mining point. Does anyone think it might be possible (using the monument as a reference) that Orihalicon might be mined out of Shakhrami Maze? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not sure about the ore, are you sure it wasn't an Excavation Point instead? Those are the types you usually find in Shakrami.

As for the monument, that's for the Selbina Clay quest.

shakrami maze is not for mining ores but for mining bones used for bonecrafting its gives pretty good income too, petrified log is worth 10k in Cerberus Jeuno AH. so far i think the best mining point is gusgen. its like the walls are practically pouring gold and darksteel ores if u wear even just one field equipment. ive tried every other place but none as good as gusgen

WOOT, third time out on a mining expedition (this time I took 2 stacks of pickaxes) I HIT A PLATINUM ORE. thats 30k in my pocket. I know I'm not likely to get another for quite a while so I'll try not to spend it all in one place :)

Hello, same person who posted about the Orihalicon earlier. Today I was looking through the AH, and under goldsmithing I just happened to see Orihalicon Ore. I find this interesting, especially since it wasnt on the AH two days before. Anyone have a clue where it can be found? Also, Im still curious about adamantium ore, I see it in the bazaar, but its not mentioned on Kyredaron's list, anyone know where this can be found also? And yes, I agree that Gusgen is the best area I have found to mine in. As a red mage, once you get sneak you can easily mine in Gusgen, since every creature there hunts by sound and/or low hp. Ive done two mining trips there (lvl 21 Rdm) and have come out both times with 1 darksteel and 1 gold, easily made 50k with all the other ores added in.

It has some flaws, but its fairly correct. I've found all the ore he has listed in Yughott. No platinum yet, but I have found 3 different colored stones. A side note.....maybe it was coincidence, but I seem to have better mining results on darkdays.

colored stones also can be mined from excavation points in tahrongi and shakrami.

Anyone know what the elemental ores are? on a recent trip to Jeuno AH I noticed some fire ore, water ore, etc. that sold for a lot of money, anyone know where to get these or how to make them?

I'm sure somebody already asked this, but I can't find the link. Are there any cave mines near San d'Oria? The person mentioned that there were two cave mines near San d'Oria: One at the top right of East Ronfaure and I think the other one was the tombs? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Someone might've said this up further but..

The Difficulty i think is the amount of Field Equipment you have

which can then be said harder ores can be found alot easiley if mined using the field equipment, i'm pretty sure theres +% bonus that each field gives...

wait that was a identity... o well.. i mean if you want to mine for good profit, you better be ready to invest 50k+ for the initial equipment

I have full field gear and I think I do pretty well mining. From yughott grotto I have found 4 colored stones, 2 darksteel ore, 1 gold ore, probably 25 or so zinc, 30-40 iron ore and a bunch of tin, copper, pebbles and flint. I've used ~6 stacks of picks at maximum. I often go out with 2 stacks and come back with 4 or so unbroken and an inventory filled with mostly iron ore.

I've had a full sets of field equipments for a while.. and I'd liek to say..

It doesn't really increase the chance of you finding good ore.. It just makes it so your axe breaks less.

I find platnimum quite often in palbrough mines (like 1 every 2-3 hrs), i have full mining equipment. my friends without any mining equipment havent found 1 yet thy have mined 20hrs+ before they dicided that it sucks

What i have found to work really well is once you have some gil saved up, 40-50k when you have some extra time to go mining buy a set of field gear. Buy pick axes and go at it. Once you are sell the gear, it will usually sell in 1-2 nights and i usually make a 10-20k profit each time i go. I would suggest jeuno for selling and buying the gear.

Adaman comes from Ifrit's Cauldron. Orichalcon might as well.

However, before you go charging off there to make your fortune, keep in mind that there's a very good reason why those ores cost as much as they do. Ifrit's Cauldron is a virtual deathtrap for a group under level 60 or so. There are locations within the Cauldron that can't be bypassed with Invisible up, and monsters permanently stationed at those locations.

And I'd be more than willing to bet that every last mining point is on the far side of those checkpoints.

Yughott Grotto is right by San d'Oria- It's one of the unmarked locations in Ghelsba Outpost. Stick to the left-hand wall of Ghelsba once you enter and follow it to Yughott Grotto. You will find Orcish Grunts and Neckchoppers as well as bats and lizards all over the place... these should not pose a threat to anyone over level 18. I haven't gone terribly far in however, so it could get harrier farther in...
