not 100% sure but from what i read somewhere it is good to go and have your pet fight its own kind a bunch and then your pets intelligence also has something to do with this which can be increased in the experimentation phases- basicly your pet has to grind levels, i think

Can the intelligence increase when you grind your pet? Just that my baby rancor well walks in to walls and I can't teach it anything (already reached lv4).

Pet Species:

Currently, all species can learn Provoke. Here is a list of which species can learn which abilities. Please note, that Chuba's seem to only have 2 abilities besides Provoke. (QA was made aware of this).

Bol: Bite, Charge, Stomp
Dewback: Bite, Charge, Stomp
Huurton: Bite, Hamstring, Puncture
Mynock: Wind Buffet
Guf Drolg: Bite, Charge, Stomp
Gurreck: Claw

(Going to finish this list today)

Loyalty Levels:

Higher ranks of pet specials can only be learned once you've hit a certain rank or above. Here is a list of loyalty levels in order. Please note, loyalty levels are not level based. Spend time with your pet, fight with it, play with it, and you'll gain loyalty levels in doing so.

Wild
Disobedient
Trained
Loyal
...
Best Friend Forever (No joke, this is the highest you can reach)
Update: It appears that either something has changed, my testing proved wrong, or the QA I spoke to was wrong. Seems that higher ranks of abilities can be learned at a lower loyalty rank.

Moods:

Your pets mood will change based on a variety of different things. It may have a favorite planet, a favorite food, or may like to fight a certain mob. Find out what your pet likes, and do them often to improve your pets damage and experience gain. Here is a list of the different moods your pet will have.

Miserable: Sad (20% loss in damage and 10% loss in experience)

Annoyed: Sad (10% loss in damage and 5% loss in experience)

Content: Content (damage and experience gain is normal)

Joyous: Happy (10% gain in damage and experience)

Pet Abilities:

This is currently bugged! As it stands now, certain breeds of species will teach certain abilities. For example, a Gronda on Corellia will teach Bite 3 to a chuba, but not to a huurton. The devs have been made aware of this bug.

The best way to learn abilities for your pet is to fight the type of creatures your pet is. If you have a tulrus, head to Mustafar and fight the different types of talrus there.

For your pet to be able to learn an ability, they first must be a certain combat level, certain loyalty level, and have enough training points. As your pet gains combat levels, it will earn more points, and allow you to spend more points. Next to each rank listed below will be the level required for that special, what loyalty level is required, and how many training points the special costs.

Provoke: A beast ability that increases the chance to taunt an enemy.
Pet Type: All

Where to learn: Mos Eisley (Tatooine) 3400 -4788, Coronet (Corellia) -319 -4688
Rank 1: 5 Training Points, Wild Loyalty Level, Combat level 5

Rank 2: 90 Training Points, Loyal Loyalty Level

Rank 3: Unknown
Rank 4: Unknown
Rank 5: Unknown

Bite: A beast bite attack.
Pet Type: Bol, Dewback, Huurton, Guf Drolg

Rank 1: 5 Training Points, Wild Loyalty Level, Combat level 5
Rank 2: 90 Training Points, Loyal Loyalty Level
Rank 3: Unknown
Rank 4: Unknown
Rank 5: Unknown

Unlearning Pet Abilities:

To have your pet forget things you have taught it, head to Mos Eisley (Tatooine) 3400 -4788 or Coronet (Corellia) -319 -4688 and talk to the Pet Trainer. Doing so cost 5000 credits.

Unlearning Pet Specials:

At this time, it's currently impossible to unlearn abilities you picked up from the wild. However, pet abilities you learn from wild creatures will remain with you, and are able to train new pets you obtain (assuming the pet is able to learn a special).
