Why do they have -8 fate which only adds to in combat regeneration but have a

Bonus to In-Combat morale and power regeneration, penalty to out-of-combat morale and power regen.
Adds 0.5 to Morale Regeneration in Combat
Adds 0.5 to Power Regeneration in Combat

For reasons related to the lore of the novel.

Fate has other effects as well. Like a critical heal bonus and an increased weapon damage of time (for spears i'm guessing).

Incidentally, the 0.5 increase in in-combat morale regeneration is several times more than the IC morale regen loss from -8 Fate

I can't remember the exact numbers, but it was shown that you need an insane amount of Fate/Vitality/Will to get even a most minute change in morale/power regen.

In fact, pretty much every stat was shown to have scant effects on what they say they do, aside from Vitality's and Will's effects on morale and power respectively.

yeah well i play a healing class so i know that it takes a lot to start stacking on mana regen---just trying to decide race that has the most power/fate ---dwarf seems like the best choice for mistrel so far because the .5 increase people say is greater than the 8 decrease in fate---

Well, men have a +20 will trait too. But really, race is going to have such a minute effect no matter what way you slice it.

Every race can unlock racial traits later on. The most famous already are the +20 will for men and +20 fate for elves. Another one is the 'sylvan shadows' (or close to that) that gives a stealth skill for elves.

There must be a complete list somewhere. :-)

Sylvan Shadows is retarded, though sadly I actually found a few situations where I actually used it to do something.

Here's a list of Racial Traits that we've all put together. It's still a work in progress. The original work was not my own, I borrowed it from a poster on the B1 forums. It has since been modified heavily through the help of many other posters. If you find any wrong information or have anything to add, post it and I'll update this main post.

The actual worth of such penalties and bonus are very tiny to begin with and many are off-set by other penalties or bonsuses. The value of stats even had more of its focus shifted onto items last patch. It's better to look at the cooldown racial abilities if you want to make a gameplay decision, or simply choose a race based on aesthetic preference.
