At the moment, the forum section is our sole coverage of Vanguard. We will consider expanding our coverage later.

I don't understand. Why cover EVE Online, EQOA, SWG, and Final Fantasy XI, but no Vanguard? I believe EB Games is even including a subscription to Allakhazam with every VG purchase. Doesnt that seem a little odd?

This is why what little VG coverage there is here is hidden so well:

Quote:
What about fansites associated with the secondary market (Gold Sellers)?

-Sigil is strong about its stance towards the secondary market. No site will ever be listed or supported by Sigil that has Secondary Market ads or is owned by the secondary market (Zam/Ogaming Networks). If a fansite is found to be supported by the Secondary Market in any way it will immediately be removed from our program.

Fair? I guess that's a matter of perspective. The least you can say about Sigil is they're serious about their stance on RMT if they're willing to forego whatever business Zam.com might sent their way. At this point Alla's stand strikes me as sour grapes.

Here's a page with all the VG fansites Sigil supports. I'm sure you can find one you like:

Why is it sour grapes to choose to not do a site for a company that has specifically named you in a post declaring hatred for an RMT affiliated fansite? I personally would love for us to do a site on Vanguard because I like the game so far, but I can fully see why (from a business standpoint) it doesn't make much sense. Sigil has gone out of their way to basically tell us to f**k off.

what differance does that make? who cares if sigil or blood sucking soe support the site or not?

as i remember soe wasnt real fond of eqatlas, or any of the third party programs, and only tollerated them when they realized they could do nothing to stop them.

there is no reason alla cant atleast make a forum dedicated to vanguard. something a little more accessable than this hidden POS.

whatever.

silkyvenom doesnt seem to have a problem, and they have a decent forum too. thats where ill be looking for my vanguard info unless anyone knows a better site. i herd eqcasters might be putting one togehter, but being they are a bunch of republican fan boys, and my democratic **** being banned from their site for singing "the chief can go to hell, instead of all hail the chief" hehehe, i problably wont be going there.

level 13 now and still really loving the game. stunning. thats all you can say about it. teh shadows, the trees, the water, the mobs. just stunning. i was really turned off by all the negative press, especially their dedication to hard core gamers whish, so far, hasnt reared its ugly head. i have been plesantly supprised. nice work.

only really glaring problem i can see as a casual gamer is the equipment required to run the game. the minimum specs are going to price a whole lot of gamers right out of the game. and the game looks horendous on a lesser machine. blured trees, buildings poping up only when your right on top of them. slide show when you try ot interact with a npc. just horendous.

if you dont have a good machine, dont buy it. you will hate it.

if you do, you wont see better graphics anywhere.

Well I'm glad someone else is enjoying it as much as I am....wait did you say something about water looking good? mine doesn't.. Guess I'll see how it changes when the new video card arrives..

Shadow already named a bunch of good aspects of the game but one he didn't mention was trade skills. This is one of the first games I've played where I actually enjoyed trade skills, I've spent at least 8-10 hours on that alone (which is about 7-9 hours more than what I normally put into a games trade skills).

Diplomacy is more addictive than crack.

So far I'm enjoying the game but rolling every other day trying out a new class just to get a feel for what I'll play long term. There's so much diversity and lack of solid information at the minute that I'm wholly confused as to which job I'll seriously level.

As for the Alla support, I really think it's down to you guys to be the grown ups in this equation and support the game regardless of whatever Sigil says or believes. Alla has always been about gamers sharing information and keeping the community going over many games. It'd be a real shame to see no support for Vanguard.

Alla should cover Vanguard because this is a third party MMO community site and Vanguard is a fairly popular MMO. Since when does it matter what the developer thinks and how they treat you?

I'm a web developer and honestly I can't believe there is a man-hour issue. If the programming for other game sites was done with any thought of reusability then making a Vanguard site comparable to the EQ2 site should be a matter of copying the code, pages and database schemas, changing some names and making some new graphics and a style sheet, then you step back and let the community add the content. If there is a bandwidth issue something is seriously wrong, a commuunity site based on ad and subscription revenue is supposed to want as many visitors as possible.

Based on the comments I've read I think Alla wants to see Vanguard fail and doesn't want to do anything to help it succeed. I would have hoped to see them take it as a challenge and make the best Vanguard site available despite the asshat attitude of Sigil. Alla built it's empire doing that with EQ, after all. Has complacency has set in with WoW and buyout riches?

I believe one reason Alla isn't covering it yet is because of
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=18
here
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=26
And well I can't find the Planet Side section. Vanguard hasn't had the most stellar of launches so I assume they're taking the wait and see approach. Alla did mention something about one admin/programer looking into a VG section (although we haven't heard anything else about that). Honestly though I haven't seen a good data base yet, even the curse what is lacking alot.

Wow, low blow from Sigil.

Allakhazam's is by far the best gaming site I have found and the only one I am willing to pay for. I would love to see a V:SoH database here but I can understand why their isn't one.

Pretty stupid move on Sigils part to publicly blackball one of the largest MMO gaming sites on the net. Although Sigil has made a lot of stupid moves in the past few months.

Not sure where that post is from but I am curious as to whether or not all of Sigil backs the calling out of Zam or was it just some rogue programmer? Since Alla has stated that his account had been suspended I am going to assume it's backed by all of Sigil.

I haven't seen any type of public retaliation from Alla and I just want to say kudos to you for that.

Either way, keep us updated on whats going on please.

Here's what I read:

Provide information or links to a 3rd party resource in the Alla network and we ban your fansite link.

Alla doesn't want to drag anyone into a pissing contest either. Sour grapes or no, it's his site, and as Pikko said, Sigil basically told him to shove his help up his @$$...

I do not agree with Alla selling a stake to IGE. However, would you rather Alla get absorbed by IGN like GameFAQs was? Alla did what he had to. He made a tough call, paid a price, and now continues to hold true to his promises. I left before because of issues with the decision, but returned mainly because Alla kept his promise. Gold/Gil selling is still a zero tolerance ban. No ads are appearing. And the new site admins have done a fantastic job.

So since Sigil likes making broad sweeping generalizations, since Sigil is backed by SoE, and since SoE has raped games in the past, I won't buy, play or recommend their game to anyone I know.

Edit:

Also, if I am not mistaken, didn't the head designer come from SoE and left them because they raped his game in the first place, and now he "sells out" to the big evil corp again?

I'm wondering if they have decided to start supporting vanguard as they are now owned by SOE and not Sigil. Would be a very wise move imo.

I had canceled my premium acct here when the whole IGE thing went down, but I am not to proud to say it...I MISS MY ALLAH!!

I am a very active player of Vanguard now, dont play other games. before VG I played EQ I was very happy player to have a place like Allah to come to,clean and organized and very social and it was heart break that moved me to cancel my premium acct here 2 yrs ago after being with the beginning of allah.

I have hoped with the change of hands to SOE and a dismantling of Sigil, Allah would take another look and set up a community system here for the Vanguard players to start adding information...community contributed, and item quest listings.

That VG_cursed is a piece of shat, buggy site and hard to navigate around in its just rediculas. Allah blows it away hands down.

Allah, please reconsider and take another look.

I would definetly be willing to pay for premium access again for a DB comparable to EQ2 and WoW. Now that Sigil is out of the picture please reconsider.
