Creature HandlingFollow

#1 Jun 09 2006 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
Does somebody heard any kind of new rumors/hope about the possibility for bringing creature handling back ?

In the chat the other night with the devs.. one player did ask about it >>Ahbominable: i have heard rumors of CH coming back can you give us any info on this as well?<< but no answer came out.

I was a master creature handler on intrepid since my second week of playing the game, about 2 years ago.. my first luv.. my favorite profession.. and I still got all my 22 pets inside my datapad rightnow with hope that SOE will allow me to handle them again in futur publish.. It hurts everytime i open my datapad and see all my old pals that i cant handle anymore, like a prison.

If they dont plan to bring the profession back, at least they could remove the CL10 caps to let us handle "usefull" pets.. because the CL10 cant help at all with their wussys stats.

Its been said before, but as a SWG addict and a still active elder, who got screwed with her favorite profession, i just had to get it out of my chest.

from everything i've read on the official boards. they dont seem to be considering bringing back CH, its a shame, but then it wasnt the only profession that shouldnt have been removed..

not sure i agree with that Masterofwar, yes those 2 professions are totally removed from the game, but being able to fight hand to hand, doesnt mean that there are elements of TKM still in the game, same with the other brawler professions, and the marksman ones too, a pistoleer and a carbineer fought in completely different manner, but that doesnt mean that a commando using a pistol or a carbine is using elements of either one, then theres doctor, combat medic and medic, the new medic is perhaps the strongest combat class there is, but it doesnt really include much of anything from its previous 'profession abilities' its more combat medic than anything.

.....
i still think their reasoning behind dropping all the professions, was one of laziness, the reason they gave of making things simpler to adapt to the new combat system etc, is really an excuse.

Wasn't Mara Jade a Teras Kasi artist?

Been a couple weeks since I checked the SWG boards for any whiffs of a rumor regarding any rezz for CH. My boycott of SWG continues, and it will stay that way as long as CH remains in rigor mortis.

Looks to me like they made SWG into another WoW clone. Pick a combat class and start fighting.

Not much use for entertainers, crafters and the other fun classes that made SWG a roleplaying game and not a 3rd person shooter.

Im not asking for CH profession to come back and second, i just cant get over it. And by the way, can i call my Rancor in WoW now or did i miss something. WoW may have pets, but not my swg pets... the ones i luuuv...

And for your information... in the Test Center right now, u can call all your mounts whatever the CL they have.. and mine are really oversized so im happy with that for now.. till it went live in 1 or 2 hotfix.

Its like giving a kid a box full of candy, takin' it back and tellin' him to get over it and move on.. its freakin hard!

Like when, Mahl? Like just after launch in 2003, when any creature of any level could be tamed? That was gone by November '03. Oh, wait... was it because Graul Maulers used to terrorize the PvP battlefield? Heh... they were nerfed about the same time too, losing their armor and other stats that I have no idea of, because I never saw an original Graul Mauler. (I started playing SWG in April '04, a few months after the CH Nerf of November '03.) Is it because people would pull out their pets in the Coronet Starport and play with them or offer them for sale, adding about one-tenth of one percent to the server load in the area?

How about this: instead of sneering at those of us who actually enjoyed the in-game content that this profession naturally brought to the game, you might want to consider doing something about that three-year-old grudge you're still nursing.

And yes, I am playing WoW myself, and yes I have a lvl-60 Hunter -- but WoW's take on pets, and on creatures in the wild for that matter -- is a weaksauce cookie-cutter approach to the profession compared to the depth of detail the original SWG had built into its creatures. Like Petopia.com (the definitive WoW resource for Hunter pet info) says about bears in that game: "A bear is a bear is a bear." No reason to tame any particular subspecies of bear versus another, other than a different skin.

dont know how that makes it a wow clone. sounds just as much like eq, eq2, ff11....

It is a WoW clone, right down to the UI and it's skinny little XP bar running along the bottom of the screen. All that was missing was a lame attempt to copy WoW's Talent Trees system. And it appears SOE is about to launch their version of that, too. About the only thing in SWG that's not found in WoW are the bugs. Conversely, WoW has a world designed from the ground up for a level-based scheme, with abundant content at every step.

Well, pseudo-content, anyway....

Yep. I agreed: "pick a class and start fighting" does not make WoW (or any other game) a clone. I simply chose to list the things I see in WoW that SWG has ripped off. I didn't bother to voice my agreement directly with you because I thought you were smart enough to catch my drift.
