SOE is rising their prices to $25.00 a month. For what, because we got to respec? There has not been anything great added to the game to show such an increase. Wow, I stunned about this, they don't have many people as it is and they rise the price? Makes no sense....

its true the station access is being increased by 3 dollars a month.

but it made me think, SWG, and most of the other titles SOE runs, cost 15 dollars a month subs, individually that is.

now, if you look at other MMO's out there, how does the price compare ?
as you look around there is one thing that stands out head and shoulders above all the rest, SOE actually charge a lot more for their games than anyone else does, by 50 percent!
most other MMO's have a monthly charge of 10 dollars.

how has SOE managed to get away with charging premium rates for substandard products, in effect, their selling you a damaged product, in retail terms that usually means you pay less, not half as much again.

is SWG worth the extra 5 dollars a month ?

personally i'd much prefer them to charge 5 dollars a month for SWG, or allow freeplay, simply because the game is in an unfinished state, it strikes me as immoral and slightly usurius to charge people as much as they do.

I don't know what that is in British currency, but by saying its to help fund more improvements and enhancents to the game is BS. They're losing money to poor sales and are trying to make up for it by charging us extra instead of trying to bring back the vets. Damn kids these days shouldn't be allowed to run MMOs...

SOE isn't worth either time, or money. If you cared for the future of this game you'd quit now, and let a competent company take over.
**** SOE.

doesnt WOW, and COH/COV cost 10 dollars a month ?
and DAOC, FFXI, the only exception i think is EVE online, which costs 15 Euro's, couldnt even tell you how that much is in English money let alone in Dollars though.

as for the station pass being good value for money, have to see what titles they are offering,
Matrix online, personally i thought this game was rubbish. even less populated than swg is.
Planetside, probably the most successful of all their current titles, at least, i havent heard anything bad about it :D
SWG .....
EQ1 & EQ2 fantasy games that are either very dated, or under subscribed, or both.

whatever your gaming preferences, SOE just doesnt have a major title at the moment, its almost like their saying that quantity is better than quality.

personally, i would rather have a single quality game, than a mass of ones that are not.

It works out £10.52 per month in UK money with the $ exchange rate the way it is at the moment.

I dont have a problem with paying more money in line with inflation. However when the rise is 10 times that of inflation I am expecting a lot more out of the game, so rather than look at the doom and gloom of $3 more a month lets look forward to the impending improvements.

$15.00 US is pretty starndard. WoW, D&D Online, CoH/CoV are all at $15.00

SOE should be reducing the price of SWG since they have removed so much content from the game. Honestly, compared to pre-NGE you get so much less. 2/3rds of the professions removed from the game and some of the ones that are left are essentially made useless.

hmm, looks like i overlooked that some of the charges were in pounds not dollars, ddo is £10.50, and wow is £8.99

...

there isnt much difference in the prices, i do think though that SWG's monthly sub should reflect its unfinished status. there is also the issue of why it is taking them so long to introduce the various publishes, either they dont have near as many dev's as they need to do the work, contrary to their own stated numbers, and then there is the fact that the publishes are still being released in various states of stability.
several servers were particularly badly hit by pub28, and there are yet again, more reported bugs. perhaps that isnt too surprising but even so, by now we should be seeing less bugs not more of them.
i've been playing in several games, and swg is really unique, unfortunately, its uniqueness is in all the bad things, like bugs, gameplay issues, and lack of content.

Well regardless I'm anti-SOE. They've shown their true colors to me. They clearly don't care about their customers, therefore I recommend no one give them their money.

That's all.
