To the_one_54321: I don't suppose you have a link to any pages that have the official word from BW execs that they will not be working with any outside intellectual properties for this MMORPG, do you?

the_one_54321

priestly, henley and woo have been posting on this thread. why dont you just ask them? im pretty sure henley was one of the specific persons who said bioware will not be doing others intellectual property. priestly and woo may have also commented on it. i can try and find a link for you but im really no good with the search feature so no promises.

Actually, One, if you read our posts you'll notice we are carefully NOT saying what it will or will not be about yet.

Except Stan and his dementia about toys from the 80's. But he's out of his gourd and cannot be trusted.

no i was talking about the posts in starwars topics in the off topic forum. im pretty sure that henley has made it very clear that bioware will not be working with outside intellectual property.

I never saw those. But they certainly must have been made BEFORE we announced a MMO. Once again, this means nothing (except that James is as valuable a source of info as Woo) as far as what our MMO may or may not be about.

Go. Bots. Go. Bots!
Mighty robots!
Mighty ve-hi-cles!
GO-BOTS!

Between Go-Bots, Captain Caveman, Bionic Six, Dino Riders, Galaxy High, Turbo Teen, and M.A.S.K., we've got a metric pile of properties we can play with do develop an MMO. Heck, I bet if I lobbied hard enough, I could convince BioWare Austin to do a Rainbow Brite game!

And by "lobby," I of course mean "brainwash."

It disturbs me that I know most of those references.

And yes, my comments about focusing on existing BioWare intellectual properties were pre-MMO announcement.

If y'all want to talk about what you'd like to see in a SW MMO, please start up a thread in our Off-Topic forum. Lets at least try to keep this trhead open for discussing our brand new Austin studio! Yahoo!

And you can go here to discuss it. http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=475512&forum=22

while it is probably true that bioware has no intentions of making a swg mmo, that does not mean that they are not making a starwars mmo, they do after all, have the licence to do so if they wish. not to mention experience of the genre, kotor anyone ? though personally i wouldnt play a kotor online game, i would be interested in what sort of starwars mmo the bioware might be considering.

This bit. I've become someone who wont beieve rumours recently (after the last couple of weeks), but the extract above seems odd...why would priestly reply like that? The reply (particulary the second sentance) tells me that they they've definately not ruled out 3rd party IPs. On a final note - why wouldn't Bioware just deny the star wars rumours? Can anyone give a solid reason?

Well, it IS generating an awful lot of free publicity, which is almost always a Good Thing. Why kill it?

And since GameSpot reported that LucasArts has told them they'd been approached by "several" game companies about doing a FUTURE Star Wars MMORPG, nothing has officially gone as far as a formal proposal. Heck even Smudley has broached the subject of a SWG-2, news of which he surmises would begin to surface sometime around 2008. But I can tell you this: as far as I'm concerned, if SOE winds up retaining the rights to a SWG-2, it will be starting its life standing in a HUGE public-relations hole.

Personally, I would LOVE to see a MMORPG set somewhere in the milennia prior to the movies. I just think it would be really interesting to see all the bits and pieces of lore fleshed out.
