  • Space Mining Quest Guide

  • ORIGINAL THREAD: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=286217
So, you want to be a space miner, eh? Ok, here is a list of things required to complete:

    1. You need Jump to Lightspeed - If you have bought Rage of The Wookies, you have it.
    2. If you are new to space, get up there and learn how to fly and how to fight.
    3. Tier3 space level is required, though not a must, but since you will encounter several tier4 and tier5 enemies it is wise if you can hold your own just a bit.. If you are below tier3, a few friends or guildies can go with you to protect you.

    Notes:
You can not fly the YT-8 Mining Vessel unless you are a Master Pilot.
You can empty your cargohold, by going into your datapad and access the radial menu on your ship.
Master Shipwrights can build new and improved Lasers, cargoholds and tractorbeams. (Not all are suited for fighterclasses)
You can go to any mining station, Trade Federation or RSF space stations and sell your resources.
If you have cleared your cargohold, you can not put your resources back. However, it should be possible to sell from inventory aswell, this i havnt tested yet, myself.

With me so far? Ok, you are set to go. You need to launch into space, only way to the planet Kashyyk is through hyperspace. Fly to the space station and request to land. Welcome to the "jungle" (Kachiro). You must go through the gate from starport and pass all the huts with NPCs inside. You will meet a HUGE tree, with a large entrance. Inside you will see 3 doorways. Go to first level. Outside on a platform, you must look for a guy called Flash. Go talk to him to receive your first mission..

    Mission #1
Head off to Talus, Dearic cantina. You have to talk to a guy called Thom, he sits in the second booth on your right when you enter cantina from the starport side (backdoor). You will now be send to patrol mining route 42. This isnt too hard, you will encounter a few hostiles, shoot them down.
Note: When you receive "mission is completed", make sure you pass the last waypoint, otherwise you might fail mission when you land. (Happend to a friend)

    Mission #2
Now you receive your first Mining laser and small cargo hold (Starfighter class). Thom sends you off to mine 250 units. To gather resources, shoot the large asteroide. When a chunk falls off, shoot it. It will then scatter into several small pieces, when you shoot those, they are transferd into your cargo hold.
Tip: I found that a speed of aprox 350 is good for collecting, it gives you good handle when targeting the fragments, at top speed you will have trouble shooting them all, as you might fly past them and they can be hard to see in space.

Note: If you have more units left, you access your cargohold in datapad, radial menu on your mining ship, empty cargo hold.

    Mission #3
You must now mine 500 units, same procedure. Good advice is to find an asteroide that isnt too crowded with enemy fighters, i found one where i was attacked constantly, this is not great, since it takes too much time to shoot them with the mining laser unless you have 2 weaponslots and shift to combat laser. You can still get some escort, ofcourse.

When you return, you are now done with Thom and he sends you back to the big tree in Kachiro. This time, go to the 3rd level, outside and to your right and meet with Captain Koh.

    Mission #4
Koh will send you on your next mission, where you must gather 750 units. He also grants you a new cargohold that can hold 1000 units. You will have to travel to the Lok system, find a spot without too much traffic and start.

    Mission #5
Next mission you will have to rendevous with a damaged mining vessel. Koh will now give you a tractor beam. You aim at the vessel and "shoots" the tractor beam. When you have taken the first load, you will be attacked, fight them off and continue. You will get attacked a few times. When you have all the resources, the ship will blow up and you are clear to head back.

    Mission #6
You will now be asked to go on a mining trip to gather resources in 3 different systems. First one is in Kashyyk system, second one is in Endor system and third is Dathtomir system. You also receive a brand new mining laser, version II. You need to collect 125 units each, which wont take long with the new laser, but keep an eye out for asteriode pirates. If you cant hold your own, again bring friends.

    Mission #7
Next mission becomes a bit tricky, you now have to escort 3 YT-8 mining vessels. They meet you in space and they wont start to depart before you communicate with one of them.. Target one and /comm. This is just like any other escort missions you might know. You will be attacked by several pirates, fight them off and after 5 min time, the vessels will leave and youre clear to go home. This is a good time to take a few friends with you, if youre not up for it yourself.

    Mission #8
Koh will now send you on a retalliation mission, which means you have to shoot a Wookie mining vessel and its escorts. Note! The vessel is easy to destroy, however the escorts are small bombers and fighters, there will be 6-8 of them. I had trouble taking these out and had to call in reinforcements. When they are all destroyed, return home.

    Mission #9
Koh is very pleased with your progress and tells you that this is the final task that will put you on the map as a space miner!
He wants you to go to the Kessel system and mine 500 units of Space Diamonds. I highly recommend that you bring at least an Ace pilot or a few skilled tier3 or 4 pilots to hold any attackers off while you mine. The system is known for its Rebel or Imperial presence of gunboats etc. You might be attacked by Asteroide pirates the first time you hit the diamond, i didnt, some guy i helped last night did. You travel to the Endor system and enter Kessel through a spacestation. When you have gathered all 500 units, hyperjump back to Kashyyk system and go see Koh.

Congratulations ! You will now be awarded with a Deed for the Y-8 Mining Vessel and a brand new Cargo Hold for 5000 units (Y-8 class)

I had fun doing this quest, even though im not a Master Pilot. It took me about 5 hours, it might be shorter, when you know where and how to do it.

    Have fun!

    Jedi starfigher walkthrough

    OFE

    The Jedi Star fighter.

I am writing this article because I found it difficult to locate info on this seemingly buggy quest. I will to the best of my ability give you all the information I learned trying to complete this quest with 3 characters.

You must be an imperial; also you must be a combatant. You will have to attack and kill rebel npc’s to complete the quest sections. Also I have no writing skills, I tend to write how I think, so please just try to take the info and I hope it helps. No grammar teachers need Pm me with corrections. If you have any questions I can answer pm me and I will do my best to answer with what I know.

First, this quest begins at the night sister strong hold on dath. If you go to the Poi waypoint. And type "/target Pile of bones" you will find, you guessed it a pile of bones. This is a container. Use your radial menu to open the bones, inside you should see an item called a rebel battle plan, (I may be wrong on the name) It looks like a swoop deed. After you take this item to your invtory use the radial menu again to inspect the item. This will bring up a small box in your screen to accept a quest.

Next head to wookiee home world, once you land go into small imperial building with the banners out side. The layout is similar to a command HQ imperial base. Go down the ramp many meters until you see a zalbrak imperial officer. Speak to him Choose the respectful text options. Do not question his sobriety. He will give you a mission. And thus begin the next phase.

At-St escort. This is when I begin to get a head ach. This mission seems very simple. Go get the At-St and escort it back to the base kill 2-5 level 20 rebel npc’s along the way. NP This is incorrect, for no reason the At-St will go AWOL and it will tell you are to far away. I found the only way to keep this from happening is to walk, with the at-St. This means you press the shift key and you move very slowly back to the imperial base. Once you and the at-St return to the commander. The next phase will begin.

So you are now speaking to the commander and he tells you the base is under attack, go kill the rebel scum. Ok NP the npc’s are level 30 ish. They are 3 shot kills for a double elite mastery. Make sure you kill them all! You will have 3 commandos spawn 3 wookiees spawn and 3 rebel troopers spawn. Once you kill them all the next phase will begin. Some people have said that the npc’s spawn to high on the cliffs and bluffs. I was always able to get with in 50 meters of the npc and shoot it. But some People have told me this is because of increased range on a carbine. I do not know. But I am mentioning it because people have sent me messages about it.

You are done with this mission, walk back inside and speak to the commander, he will tell you to go down stairs and speak to the new commander, you will go down stairs and Vader will spawn. Speak to him to receive your new ship and some faction.

    A Galaxy of Space Mining

By:YodaMac AKA Yod Amac - Head DE, SYN City, Naboo, Radiant Galaxy

    Original Thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=289807

(Well, I haven't seen much of a comprehensive guide to Space Mining (in general), so I will contribute what I know so far in the hopes it will help other players, or that more well-informed players can point me to a better resource...)

You can read the Friday Feature about Space Mining to get the basics, of course.

There is a fella named Flash Harrison in Kachiro, Kashyyyk who can get you started along the path to Space Mining missions (via the Corellia Mining Corp.), and by the time you're done, you'll have two mining lasers, cargo holds, and a tractor beam. Everything the budding Space Miner needs to get at that rock! There are Walkthough threads for those missions already.

Since I started mining regularly, here's some more info that I've gathered:

    Systems & their Asteroid Resources:
Tatooine: Iron (and lots of them)
    Naboo/Rori: Sulfuric, Carbonaceous
    Corellia/Talus: Iron, Silicaceous
    Lok: Obsidian, Organometallic
    Yavin4: Cyanomethic, Petrochemical
    Dantooine: Methane, Acidic
    Endor: Ice
    Dathomir: Crystal
    Kashyyyk: Organometallic, Methane
    Kessel: Diamond!

Asteroids will only break off a couple of large chunks at a time. These need to be broken down into smaller chunks and then blasted or "tractored" into your hold. (tractor beam gives you better yield per asteroid chunk.)

When an Asteroid's hit points (use /examine to see this) drop too low, the Asteroid stops giving out ANY chunks at all. You can then either move on to another Asteroid, or continue blasting it until it's "hp" reaches zero. It will then completely explode and be instantly replaced by a new Asteroid (same type of course).

NOTE: PERSONALLY I'D LIKE TO SEE SOME SORT OF BONUS YEILD FROM THAT FINAL BLAST TO MAKE IT WORTH WHILE, BUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE

    Craftable Mining Ship Components:
You can gather the resources to have a Shipwright craft you various Mining-specific ship components:

Mining Laser I: Mining Laser II:
50 Iron Asteroid 125 Iron Asteroid
50 Organometallic Asteroid 125 Organometallic Asteroid
50 Methane Asteroid 125 Methane Asteroid
50 Carbonaceous Asteroid 125 Carbonaceous Asteroid
Optional Mark I Weapon Upgrade Optional Mark II Weapon Upgrade

    Mining Laser III: Tractor Beam:
250 Iron Asteroid 625 Iron Asteroid
250 Crystal Asteroid 625 Crystal Asteroid
250 Methane Asteroid 625 Methane Asteroid
250 Carbonaceous Asteroid 625 Carbonaceous Asteroid
    Optional Mark III Weapon Upgrade

    Cargo Hold (small):
    Starfighter: 100 Silicacious / 100 Cyanomethic
    Y-8: 1000 Obsidian / 1000 Pertochemical
    POB: 750 Silicacious / 750 Acidic

    Cargo Hold (medium):
    Starfighter: 250 Silicacious / 250 Cyanomethic
    Y-8: 1500 Obsidian / 1500 Pertochemical
    POB: 1000 Silicacious / 1000 Acidic

    Cargo Hold (large):
    Starfighter: 500 Silicacious / 500 Cyanomethic
    Y-8: 3000 Obsidian / 3000 Pertochemical
    POB: 1250 Silicacious / 1250 Acidic

There are also some Y-8 craftable items: (Only useable on the Y-8!)

Elite Mining Laser: Mining Grade Capacitor:
    1250 Iron Asteroid 1250 Steel
    1250 Diamond Asteroid 1250 Copper
1250 Methane Asteroid 675 Organometallic Asteroid
1250 Carbonaceous Asteroid 675 Carbonaceous Asteroid
Optional Mark V Weapon Upgrade Optional Mark V Capacitor Upgrade

    Mining Grade Reactor:
    1250 Steel
    1250 Copper
    625 Sulfuric Asteroid
    625 Organometallic Asteroid
    Optional Mark V Reactor Upgrade

Once your Cargo Hold is full (500 for small, 1000 for large Starfighter Cargo Hold) you then have to empty it into your inventory (or sell it at a Mining Platform) before you can continue mining. Biggest problem with this is that you have to LAND to do so. I can't seem to find any way to empty the Cargo Hold while still in space.

Perhaps on a Multi-Player ship this is possible. (I have yet to complete the Corvette mission and get my Ace status... so I can't tell you about Multi-Player mining yet)

SPACE MINING TRADING PLATFORMS: Here's where you can go in each system to sell what Asteroid Resources are in your Cargo Hold. You can ONLY sell what is currently in your Cargo Hold (not from your inventory). The current Price Per Unit is posted as well - not sure if they ever fluctuate...

Also, there are some apparently random drops you will get of different Asteroid Chunks that can be used in very specific crafting. Ancient, Colorful, Strange, Glowing and Misshapen Asteroids. (that's all I know of so far) They are not in a resource container (like the regular ones), they actually are chunks of rock. These are HUMUNGOUS if you drop them in a house (fill an entire PA hall almost) so that is kinda cool....heh.

    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could give me a few ideas on how to defeat the Imperial Corvette Mission for the Privateer Ace Quest. I got in to Kessel and found 1 Corvette, 2 Imp gunships and a host of smaller imperial fighters. the fighters are no problem but when it comes to the gunboats and the vette, im buggered. Is there a walkthrough of a "how to" on this mission. Any help appreciated

    III. Preparation

    IV. Finding the Corvette

    V. Destroying the Corvette

    VI. Rewards

    I. FAQ

Q: Where is the Corvette located?
A: The Corvette is located in Kessel. The Imperial Corvette (the one the Rebels have to blow up, named the Star Ravager) spawns at 7340, 7550, 6268 in Kessel. It is possible that it could spawn at a different point on different servers, but on Naritus, I have been part of 4 teams that have destroyed it and 3 of the times we were able to wait at that specific spawn point and all 3 times, it appeared there. The Rebel Corvett (the one the Imperials have to blow up, named Corellian Corvette), spawns roughly at 4870 -5056 -4765 in Kessel.

Q: How do I get to Kessel?
A: For Rebels, Kessel is only accessable by traveling to the Dantooine System and heading to the "deep space station" POI. The deep space station will appear in your Data Pad in the POI section. When you arrive at the deep space station, you will need to /comm with the station (or Shift + C which is default), and then select "kessel" as the destination

Imperials get to Kessel from the Empire Deep Space station in Endor space. When killed, the Imperials return to Endor

Freelancers get there from the Neutral Deep Space Station in Dathomir. When killed freelancers return to Dathomir.

    Q: Can anyone enter Kessel?
A: Anyone can enter Kessel. But be advised that everything that spawns there is Tier 5.

Q: Can I solo the Corvette?
A: Yes, however you must know HOW to. See below in the tactics section for a more detailed description with regards to strategy

Q: What weapons work best on the Corvette?
A: Missles and Proton Torpedoes will do more damage, however doing "flyby's" and using blasters is also effective. Blasters however, require one to actually "aim" at the specific components.

Q: What happens if I have the mission and I die while fighting the Corvette? Do I lose the mission?
A: Whenever you die in kessel, you respawn at the particular deep space station that you used to travel to kessel. For rebels, its in Dantooine, for Imperials, its Endor and for Freelancer, its Dathomir. As a rebel, you spawn at the Dantooine Space station (cannot fully repair) and it is only about 6000m away from the Deep Space station that is used to travel to Kessel. As an Imperial, you spawn at the Endor station (100% repairs), hypering to Derillium Sea after reparis will put you about 2500m from the Deep Space station in Endor. You do not lose the mission.

Q: Does the Corvette Spawn the moment I enter Kessel? A: No, the Corvette is on roughly a 2 hour Spawn timer. But with the rate the developers like to "tweak" such spawn rates, its possible that the rate will change. I will do my best to keep the times current. The Vettes spawn an hour apart. So if the Star Ravager spawns at 1:00 pm central time, the Corellian Corvette will spawn at roughly 2:00 pm central time. There is a 45 mintue time limit as to the vette staying in the system, and afterwards, it will be 1 hour 15 mintues until the vette for the specific faction respawns in Kessel.

Q: Do we have a time limit to destroy the Corvette? A: YES. The Corvette will hyperspace out of the system after a certain ammount of time after it spawns. From my experience and other peoples input, we believe that it stays in Kessel for roughly 45 mintues from the time it spawns, to the time it hyperspaces out. Once it hyperspaces out, all progress on that current Corvette is lost. We found this out the hard way.

Q: How many different types of corvettes are there?
A: There are Two (2) different ones, one for each of the factions. The Rebels must destroy the Star Ravanger Corvette. The Imperials must destroy the Corellian Corvette. The Freelancers are able to choose which Master mission they do [either Rebel or Imperial], and depending on the mission they choose, they have to destroy the applicable Corvette.

Q: Does the Corvette Spawn Alone?
A: No. The Corvette spawns with Two (2) tier 5 gunboats, and a few fighter escorts. All ships that spawn in Kessel will be tier 5.

Q: I'm a freelancer, where is my Master Trainer?
A: There is no Freelancer Master Trainer, at master level they either take goto the Rebel or Imperial Master level Trainer and take the same Master Level quests. So they will either be going after the Imperial or Rebel Corvette depending on which trainer they went to. There is NO Freelancer Corvette.

Q: Do I have to be in Kessel when the Corvette is destroyed to get credit for the quest?
A: You must be in Kessel the moment that the Corvette is destroyed. You must ALSO do some damage to at least one subsystem in on the Vette inorder to get credit.

    II. Preface

The second (and final) mission that your master level trainer gives you involves the destruction of an NPC Corellian Corvette. This is no easy task. The Corellian Corvette is equipped with Eight (8) Turbo Laser Batteries. In addition, the Corvette will spawn with a small fleet of fighter escorts. There will be Two (2) tier 5 gunboats, and a small number of star fighters.

NOTE for Freelancers: As stated above, the Freelancer does NOT have a Master level trainer. A freelancer will have to seek out either the Rebel or Imperial Master Level trainer and take the mission. [ WP's to the master level trainers to come - however in the Hotel in Doaba, there is a (the?) Master Level Trainer for Rebels, the Master Level trainer for Imperials is located in the back of the Theed Palace]

This is not something that one should beable to solo, however, experienced pilots will have no problem doing so. Imperials have a much easier time doing [ see the imperial tips in section V for a few hints ] it because of the ability to call in bomberstrike in Kessel. Ideally, you would want to bring a group to maximize your fun and to efficiently dispose of all fighter escorts.

    * IMPORTANT NOTE: For other missions, if you die, then you must retake missions. This is not the case with the corvette master mission. You can clone zerg the corvette. Clone zerging involves dying, repairing at the space station you warp to after dying, and immediately heading back out to battle.

    III. Preparation

Get a group if possible. A nice mix of star fighters is adventageous. I would say there are 3 types of starfighters that can be used. Fast attack crafts (such as a-wings), medium attack crafts (such as x-wings) and heavy attack crafts (such as b-wings and y-wings). The Fast attack crafts are very useful when it comes to combating the NPC escort fighters (x-wings, y-wings, ties) that will accompany the Corvette. Make sure to load up on Missles and Proton torpedoes. Space bombs are also an option, but remember the ammo magazine is roughly 3 or 4 uses. They are vital to the success of the mission. The medium attack fighters provide a great balance when combating the NPC escort fighters and then using missles on the Corvette. The heavy attack fighters server one purpose, to use their aresenal (missles and proton torpedoes) to destroy the Turbo Laser batteries on the Corvette.

For heavies starfighters, load your ship up with front end shields and armor. If applicable and possible, a droid programmed with heavy/extreme shield adjust front can be very useful. Get familiar with your ship, and how it maneuvers.

Make sure you have your droid programmed. This is almost vital to managing your shields. As you find that you get higher and have to fight harder NPC star fighters, you will see that you take a ton more damage.

Comes in Mark I and II (Level 5 and 10) variants.

I would recommend trying to get the group that you attack the corvette with on a voice program. We used Team Speak 2 and I will flat out say it was very very helpful. Remember back in Star Wars: A New Hope when all the rebels were on the way to destroy the death star? Very reminicient of that, you will actually feel like you are "in the battle".

As an FYI, this may have been the best time I have had in this game since i bought SWG almost a year and a half ago. Better than unlocking Jedi, better than having epic 7 hour pvp battles. I paid 24.99 at best buy for JTL, and doing the master level mission (part 2) was worth every penny.

    IV. Finding the Corvette

Apparently, there are static spawn points where the corvettes will spawn. The Star Ravager, which Rebels must destory, spawns at:

    7340, 7550, 6270

The Imperial Corvette (Corellian Corvette), which is the Corvette that Imperials must destory, spawns roughly at:

    4870 -5056 -4765

Once the corvette spawns into the world, it will stay for roughly 45 mintues, and then proceed to hyperspace out. It will return in roughly 1 hour, 15 mintues, putting it on roughly, a 2 hour timer.

    V. Destroying the Corvette

Ducimus has posted a very nice guide as to how to destory the Vette in 5 easy steps. His work can be found at the following link: Ducimus' Incredible 5 Step Guide

So now that you are briefed, its time to blow this thing up. When you finally find the Corvette that you are looking for, this is where the fun begins. Remember, the Corvette is on a timer before it will hyperspace out of the system. Try to lure the smaller fighters out. Make sure to protect your "bombers", aka the heavier attack crafts that carry all the missles. Depending on faction, your approach will be different.

For Rebels, a very useful protocol should be as follows:

Destroy ALL fighter escorts (not including gunboats).
Destory Weapon 5 on the corvette, this is located on the belly of the corvette towards the front of the ship.
Destory the Primairy Shield and the Secondary Shield on the Corvette, then disable the Engines. The Vette will become immobile, however the gunboats will continue on the path. You will have successfully isolated the Vette.
From this point on, it should be elementry. The Vette will be stationary and at the mercy of your group.
For Imperials, a very useful protocol should be as follows:

Call Bomberstrike on Weapon 5. This will draw aggro, and when Bomberstrike is done, you will probably have a Corvette with zero weapon systems left. Bomber strike is very very effective versus the weapon systems on the vette.
Destroy the Primairy Sheild and the Secondary Shield, then disable the Engines. Then follow the instructions above in the "rebel" protocol section.

I would also recommend, if applicable, adjusting your shields to the front. The majority of the damage you will be taking will be hitting you head on. Gunboats and Turbolasers will try to pound you from the front. And if your craft is slow (ie a y-wing), more likely than not you will be pounded.

Now, on to the specifics of the Corvette.

The Corvette is a unique ship. When you originally target it, there will be Nine (10) targetable subsystems. The are Two (2) shields and Eight (8) turbo lasers, numbered 0-7. The reason that the corvette is so unique, is the fact that inorder to knock out the weapons, you DO NOT have to destroy the shields first. You can flat out go in after the individual weapon systems. The primairy target should always be weapon system 5. If you are under the Vette, there is a blind spot that allows neither the Vette nor the accompanying gunboats to hit you. The more you do the vette, the more you will get used to the blindspots.

So the components one must take out:

    Eight (8) Turbo Laser Batteries
    Shield 1
    Shield 2
    Engine
    Reactor
    Bridge

    Additional Information and Tips:

    Specific Targeting Information:
Weapons: To kill a weapon, you have to have a direct shot at it. Go for weapons 0 through 3 and 5 first. These are all close together, so it's easy to hit more than 1 in a single pass. You don't have to have a particular weapon targetted in order to destroy it with your guns. You just have to know where it is. You need as strong front shields and armor as possible. Weapons 6 and 7 appear to only be able to shoot forward. I've never been hit by them when attacking from the sides and rear. Because of this, leave weapons 6 and 7 for last. The weapons are relatively exposed and fragile. Any NPCs in the area are likely to knock out some of the weapons for you. Shields: The shield generators are located at the front of the diamond-shaped area of the corvette, one on the starboard side, and one on the port side. If you are using guns, the shields can only be damaged by an arc extending a little bit to each side. If you are using projectiles, getting a lock and blowing the shields allows you to be a bit less precise. Since the vette is still moving at this point, they can be hard to target at times. Engines: Located in the obvious place, the rear of the ship They can only be damaged by your guns shooting directly into the exhaust of the engine. Reactor: Use the targeting recticle to see which side of the 'vette the ship is on. You can only damage the reactor by shooting from directly above it. Imagine a line through the main axis of the 'vette, you have to be perpendicular to it. Bridge: Can only be damaged by your guns from the front. You have to shoot through the window.

    TIPS FOR REBELS:

From my personal experience, I have flow a Y-wing longprobe for my first assualt (the one that netted me master) and an A-wing the other times I've been up against the vette. My technique for the A-wing allows me to get quick strikes in. The key to assualting the corvette for an A-wing is to come in from the side of the ship, with shields adjusted to the front. Come in at full speed and once you hear the missle/proton torpedo lock, fire and pull up (roughly at 600-650 meters). Since your back will be towards the vette, immediately use a shield adjust rear (extreme) and booster out of there.

TIPS FOR IMPERIALS (thanks to Draconicius for his input):

Addition for Imperial side: Yes we do have it easier due to Bomber Strike. Here is the key. Once your flight wing is in sector have ALL target the vette's weapon system 5 and do a bomber strike. Stray fire WILL put you on target for a moment, but fly out of range and the gunboats will re-acquire the strike packages and forget you) What this means is that once the strike packages are in the area they will attack the packages and ignore (MOST of the time) the PC's.

While the packages are engaged.. have the flight wing blow up the starfighter escort. I found that the starfighters were more troublesome than the gunboats. If you have at least 3 people once the strike packages are done .. the vessel should be at about 50% (Assumption all pilots in the wing have Bomber Strike 2) . From here... use missiles for selective targeting , if you havent already used em on A-wings.

To down a Corvette you MUST take out all components. Use the [ and ] keys to target parts selective missile fire is the best way to take down parts. 2 mk 3 protons will take a ship component to about 20% depending on the DMG roll. If you are lucky you will destroy the part.

The turrets will die first from the bomber strike leaving the flight wing available to select different parts of the ship with missiles and take it down.

    VI. Rewards

We all love loot. As a reward for finishing this quest, you get a nifty "ace" pilot title you can wear, you get a Badge, and you get factioned loot. The Imperials recieve a Helmet that sorta looks like bad bone armor gone wrong, and the Rebels recieve a very nice looking flight Helmet. Sorta reminds you of "Top Gun". Neutral pilots have will recieve a helmet that reminds you of a futuristic motorcycle helmet.

    ARC 170 Starfighter Quest

  • Original Thread : http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=quests&message.id=12327

    ARC 170 Starfighter Quest

    Reward:

    ARC 170 Starfighter Deed
    3 person craft (1 pilot 2 gunner)
No Sell/No trade reward - must complete quest to deed

    Requirements:

    Combatant Rebel Minimum
Starships Cert Level IV to Deed and Pilot Craft
    RotW Expansion Enabled

    Time To Complete:

60 Minutes (most of that spent walking the people you escort)

    Soloable: Yes
    Group Required: NO
    Details on Needed Group: N/A

    Mobs and CL ratings:

Some Trando Slavers CL27-CL30, IMPS at the Imperial Prison if you are Overt (none over CL 32) and the
various mobs on Dath WHICH YOU SHOULD AVOID.

    Known Bugs:

If you fail for any reason you must go on leave. Log out then back in then go off leave. The queen will talk to you once
again and you can start the quest all over (from the very beginning)

When you first leave Kachiro there will be HUNDREDS of Drrilm's around. Just pick one. It doesn't matter which. Just keep
track of which one is yours so you know which one to stay close to or you will tank the quest and have to start over.

DO NOT get yourself killed to speed the return to the science outpost when you free the wookies on Dath. Every one of my
friends that did this bugged the mission. the 5 minutes of travel saved IS NOT worth having to start all over.

    Walkthrough:

Queen at back of Naboo Palace - Theed. Her name is Queen Kylantha. As you enter she is a white NPC indicator in the far
upper left most circular chamber. Be sure you are at least Combatant.
    Converse.
Take the first conversation option for each until you get the mission "Queen's Aid"

    Travel to Kashyyk.

Locate the wook you are to escort (drrilm) straight out on the eastern path from Kachiro. Walk, don't run, to escort him back to
Kachiro's main gate. If he gets too far away you will be warned. If you are attacked by trandoshans kill them and get next
to Drrilm or the mission will fail. After you escort him you will be directed to the Trando Salver camp with thee landing
pad. After you escort your target(s) you may get a "failed to escort message" but you can ignore it as long as the Mission
Complete message pops up in green.

Go to the slaver camp with the landing pad and speak to the wook on the pad. He will direct you to the Imperial Prison on
    Dath.

Travel to the Science Outpost on Dathomir but only AFTER you have gone ON LEAVE as a rebel. If you are still a combatant
when you arrive at the base you will ahve aggro hell. If you are a Jedi Knight and always Overt then kill the Imps and get
the wookies. It is slightly shorter to the Imp prison from this starport (about 6500m). Travel to the prison and locate
Orreekazzapirr and Imarra. They will be in the large central paddock and they will show HAM bars once they are higlighted.
Talk to Orreekazzapirr (jesus the names on these wooks) and then talk to Imarra. They will then need to be escorted from
the prison to the "escape point" WP on your screen. Try to stay away from IMPS while you do this so they don't get upset at
the fleeing wookies. Once you reach the escape point talk to Orreekazzapirr and then return to the Science Outpost starport
and launch into space as you will have to fight off Imps so they can escape. After you escort your target(s) you may get a
"failed to escort message" but you can ignore it as long as the Mission Complete message pops up in green.

Once you launch the wookie's show up in the VERY ARC 170 Starfighter you are trying to get. Go to the waypoint on your HUD.
You will be faced with 2 tie wings consisting of 4 Tier 3 interceptors/Ties and 2 Tier 4 Interceptors/Ties. I did this with
Pilot 2200 so you don't need to be a high level pilot to COMPLETE the quest though you do to fly the ship in question. The
wookie's ARC 170 is tough and they will likely kill most of the Imps. Keep at it till the Imps are toast. The wookies will
signal that they will meet you in Theed.

Hyperspace to the Naboo Royal Way sector and dock with the Naboo Neutral Station and Land at Theed Starport.
Return to the Queen for the ARC 170 Deed. ALL DONE!

    Notes:

Walk when escorting the Wookies in order to stay close to them otherwise you will fail.

I solo'd this with master doc and rifleman 4433 with a CL of 72. As long as you are CL 35+ you should be OK.

I got the deed my first try BY FOLLOWING THE GUIDLINES LAID OUT HERE. Many of my colleagues did not so don't take the
SHORT, EASY path as it only leads to DISSAPOINTMENT.

    Thanks for your attention,

How to complete the Heavy X-Wing/Vaksai Mission (Rebs/Neutrals)

    ORIGINAL POSTER:Cobad

    http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=286974

    OFE

Once you have completed the escort missions from Kashyyk station, you get the chance to take a mission that is a little more "Challenging." This will give you access to one of the high mass fighters. I won't go through the details of the previous missions, this is for the final mission only.

The deal is this, you have to intercept a stolen Rebel corvette, take out its escorts, and then capture it and escort it back to the station. 2 aces can do this mission without much difficulty, but it can also be soloed (I know, 'cos I did it )

First part - Destroy the escorts. Easy enough for a master pilot, they're all Tier 4 and 5 fighters and bombers - just make sure you don't land any hits on the corvette, or that will make life difficult for you.

Second part - Disable and capture the Corvette. This is a Corellian Corvette (just like the one that needed to be destroyed to get master pilot in the first place). I have 2 words for you: SPACE BOMBS. Get a mark 2 Spacebomb launcher and load it with a pack of at least 4 bombs. As long as you didn't hit the Corvette in the first part, then you can just saunter up to it, lock your space bomb onto the Shield Generator, and fire. It may take 2 shots. After that, do the same for the Secondary Shield Generator (again, may take 2 shots). Once that is down, use your guns to take out the engines. Wait a minute or two, and the corvette will be captured by friendly forces - with all it's weapons intact .

Third part - Once the corvette has been captured, assume an escort formation with it. You will soon be attacked by more tier 4 and 5 fighters. Word of advice: Don't destroy them, just disable. Chances are the Corvette will destroy them once you disable them, but it slows the spawn rate down (which is good, because the last things that spawn on the mission are Tier 5 gunboats). If and when the gunboats spawn - don't touch them, the player with the mission should keep well out of the fight, and if the systems on the corvette get too low, then a wingman may be required to do a suicide run (by this I mean attack as many of the gunboats as possible to draw them off the Corvette - it is likely to lead to that wingmans death, but you can repay them by doing the same with their mission ). Once the corvette gets close to the station, it will warp out and mission complete.

Fourth part - Assuming the player with the mission hasn't been killed in parts 1-3, they can then go to the station (either Rebel or Kashyyk depending on the start point) and claim their reward, which will either be the Heavy X-Wing (with 180k mass) or the Vaksai Black Sun Prototpe (which i believe is an Ixiyen with 150k mass).

    Enjoy.

    Y-8 MISSION WALKTHROUGH BY BIKERKID

    http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=288543

    QFE:

How to get a Y-8 Mining Vessel – for free!!!
    Contacts:
Flash Harrison: 1st Level, Kachirho Tree City, Kashyyyk.
    Thom Steele: Dearic Cantina, Talus.
Captain Koh: , 3rd Level, Kachirho Tree City, Kashyyyk.
    Mission 1: Mission to Talus
Flash Harrison, self proclaimed pilot god, wants you to deliver a message to Thom Steele for him.
Go to Dearic Cantina, Talus, to deliver his message. Speak to Thom, get paid 1K for your trouble so far.. He will then give you a mission to fly to Correllia space, to remove some miners…
Once in Correllia Space you will be given a patrol waypoint to go to… and then another…
I killed 3 tier 3 Z-95 headhunters on the 2nd way point. I carried onto the next patrol point, and that was it. Mission Successful, return to Thom Steele in Dearic Cantina, Talus.
Thom Steele Thanks you and gives you a mining laser and cargo hold, and if you want, another mission to mine some rock for him….
Mission 2: Extract 250 units of Siliaceous Asteroid
“An abundance of silicaceous asteroids have entered the corellia system recently, and we’d like a piece of those minerals. Head up there and get us a sample. You can keep whtaever you mine, we’ll only scrape off a bit to test the quality. 250 units should be enough to get a proper sample.”
Equip your newly aquired mining laser and cargo hold, and note which number weapon it is. Fly into space and activate the silicaceous asteroid waypoints. Pick one and head over to it. Start blasting away (using the number key that relates the weapon slot, example, mine was in weapon slot 3, so pressing the number 3 key will fire that weapon) with the mining laser until you get a chunk fly off, chase it down (I target it and hit follow) and blast that, till it splits into even smaller bits, again blast these till its all gone. Have to be quick though, the bits soon fly off into the distance. Rinse and repeat till you get the mission successful message.
Return to Thom Steele, Dearic Cantina, Talus, and he will pay you 2k, and send you off to Kashyyyk to report to Captain Koh of the mining Fleet…
You must empty your cargo hold, by using the radial menu of the ship control device in your datapad, when on the ground. Select Unload Cargo for all the cargo to be transferred to your inventory.
Mission 3: Extract 500 Units of Organometallic Asteroid
Captain Koh is on the 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk.
He will give you a mission to extract 500 units of Organometallic Asteroid in Kashyyyk space…
When you return he rewards you with 5k then asks you to come back in a minute so he can study the sample. When you return he tells you that miners from Lok are stealing ore from the Kashyyyk space, and sends you on another mission. He also gives you a larger capacity cargo hold. Empty your carg, and equip the new one.
Mission 4: Extract 750 units of Obsidian Asteroid
The next mission is to extract 750 units of Obsidian from Lok…
Same Process, get to Lok, Activate the Waypoints for the Osidian, and go to the nearest one, and start mining it to bits….
Mission successful will appear once you reach 750 units…
Return to Captain Koh, 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk, and he will reward you with a tractor beam and 7.5k. Talk to him again to get another mission. He wants you to steal the cargo of a stranded freighter in Corellia.
    Mission 5: The Damaged Freighter
Empty your cargo, and equip your new tractor beam to a weapon slot where the mining laser was, then fly off to Corellian space…
When you get to space, make a note of how to turn on/off your tractor beam, and get after that freighter.
It’s a Tier 3 ship, but you will need to defend yourself against attacks, be ready.
When you get to the freighter and start your tractor beam 7 (I think) Tier 3 Z-95 Headhunters appear. Kill them all and continue with the siphoning of cargo from the damaged freighter. Moments later, you will get the mission successful, and the freighter will explode.
Return to Captain Koh, 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk. He will reward you with 7.5k and you get to keep the cargo of iron you took from the freighter.
Mission 6: Broad Sample Part 1,2,3
The next mission Entitled “Broad Sample” sends you off to get 125 units of minerals from 3 systems in order:
    Organometallic asteroid from Kashyyyk
    Ice asteroid from Endor,
    Crystal asteroid from Dathomir.
Using your tractor beam, means you do not have to destroy the last smaller part of the asteroid chunk, just activate the tractor beam and it will be pulled into you. You may still have to follow it to get closer.
Once you have completed this, return to Captain Koh, 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk, and he will reward you with a new mining laser and 10k.
Mission 7: Protect the Y-8 Convoy
His next mssion is a patrol one, and wants you to go to Kashyyyk space and escort a bunch of Y-8’s through space. Gear up for combat and get into space….
Once you reach your target, 3x Y-8’s will appear. They will ask you to activate your comm on any of the 3 when your ready, and give the go ahead to start the journey.
Once you set off, almost immediately groups of 3 Tier 3 Dunelizards spawn constantly for the duration of the journey. You must be very quick at killing for this part.
If all 3 survive, you will eventually get the mission successful. You can now either clean up the few remiaining pirates or hyperspace back to Kashyyyk. Either way return to Captain Koh, 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk when your ready. Captain Koh will reward you with 10k for your efforts.
Mission 8: Intercept the Gilded Wookie
His next mission, “Intercept the gilded wookie”, is the complete opposite of the previous. You must now destroy a convoy and it’s escort at the same place you escorted your convoy to safety. Secretly like, you know. Gear up for combat, its gonna be messy.
    3x Tier 4 Xwings
3x Merc A wings (does not say what Tier)
    1x Gilded Wookie Tier 3 Y-8
You MUST destroy all ships, so there’s no witnesses. Return to Captain Koh, 3rd level of the Kachirho city Tree, Kashyyyk when the mission successful appears.
    Your reward is 12.5k.
    Mission 9: Space Diamonds
Your next mission is in Kessel. You must Mine 500 units of Diamond from the ‘roids there. Be careful. Be ready.
To get to Kessel, go to your factional Deep space station,
Rebel = Dantooine, Station (Deep Space)
    Imperial = Endor
Neutral = Dathomir, Last Nav Station (Deep Space)
There are 3 Diamond Asteroids in Kessel as follows:
    2309, -3731, -3404
    2725, 2290, 1981
    -625, -3033, 4712
If you have mapped a key to “select next space object (any)” you can confirm these co-ordinates and add waypoints.
Be aware: The roids in Kessel can spawn a multiple of 2x Asteroid Bandits. Tier 5 KSE Firesprays or Xwings. I may have been unlucky, but I killed 10 Tier 5 ships mining my 500 units of diamonds.
Once you have completed your 500 unit quota, return once more to Captain Koh, where you will be rewarded with 15k and a brand spanking new Y-8 mining vessel.

the heavy X wing missions have changed as has the final challenge
disable corvette and escort . Now there are no escorts and no gunboats or anykind of aggro . Just stop it and escort it takes about five minute to complete the mission . even the missions that emya and the rebel outpost give have been simplified .

all you have to do is destroy one enemy ship whilst on these mission and you pass . ( they have really screwed them up in my opinion as a five year old could do them now )

As for the arc 170 you dont have to be on duty to get it from the queen as ive done this mission with friends tons of times with out being on duty at all .
