Mass Gatherings PolicyFollow

Mass Protest Policy

Occasionally in Star Wars Galaxies, players feel the need to express their discontent with mass protests. With mass gatherings maliciously organized to disrupt other’s play experience, we will restrict the number of players gathering in any one area to maintain the stability of the service.

Mass gatherings of players in a concentrated area are problematic due to the underlying technology shared by all massively multiplayer games. First and foremost, the technology of Star Wars Galaxies does not allow for hundreds of players to gather in a single area of the world without interfering with the play experience of all players in that area and potentially disrupting the operation of the entire game world.

Large-scale gatherings that harm the experience of other players are a violation of the game’s terms of service (TOS). If you are attending any kind of large player gathering and the performance of your client degrades significantly, you should consider leaving the area before further degradation occurs. If a large-scale gathering occurs and a Customer Service Representative (CSR) requests that you leave the area, please do so immediately. Failure to follow the requests of CSRs is also a violation of the TOS. Any violation of the TOS can result in sanctions on your account, including suspension of play privileges and/or cancellation of the account.

We value our all of our customer's feedback and opinions, but such feedback needs to presented in a way that doesn't interfere with your fellow players’ game experience or the operation of the service. Your feedback is most effective when it is constructive and routed to the appropriate channel of communication.

1. Our community forums are the most appropriate place to give us feedback on policies, game issues and other general feedback to the team http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/ We look forward to hearing from you and please remember our Usage Guidelines and Community Policies when posting.

I can also expect lots of protest against the Combat Upgrade when it hits live (My personal view is it is unecessary and not well executed as of now), so I think this is just a preemptive warning. Anyways, this si technically old news, but it is always good to hear. damn college students would be protesting in Theed if for every hot fix if it wasn't for this :P

Lol nice warning not trying to be a prik but wat are u going to do realisticly. Cancel over 100-200 peoples account on one server. If its a big issue it could be that number on every or moist servers. I can even be bothered to work that out. U think the men upstairs in teh office will allow that amount of money lost. Hmm its a tough but wen 1000's of people are paying money each month and they protest all at once. Bussiness sense=let em protest and listen to em lol. Empty threats. And if there no is the game bein run by monkeys?

Luv teh no freedom of speach policy u guys are taking good on u

I have heard tell that the servers are flat, and sit on the back of four elephants that stand on the back of a giant Turtle.

If too many people gather in one place maybe the servers will fall off?

Last time I checked, in the USSR it was considered a crime to speak against the country. Last time I checked, mass gatherings are not the only way to get a point across. If you want to help the game, simply take it to the forums, PM devs, send suggestions, make bug, reports, contact as many people as you can, get petitions, etc...

I for one favor this policy, as I have lagged out of Coronet when there were only people there trying to do bussiness. And yes, it can and will crash the server if like 200 people are in one place... it just wasn't made for that.

And before you go all Constitutional on SOE, there is also something that says a private, non-govermental bussiness has the right to refuse service based on their standards. They have the right to prohibit something that can cause a significant disturbance. Not to mention, the first ten amendments in, in which the right to assembly and demonstration are in, apply to the government, not to the people. So if people are demonstrating on my private property, I can sue them for tresspassing, a case that I could likely win. So if SOE does not want you on their servers, they can kick you off, end of story.

PS: This has been in the TOS since Oct 31 of 2003 I believe, so you have agreed to this EVERY time you have logged in.

Given how the changes to entertainers and the CU is looking, I really don't think they are going to have a problem about MASS gatherings... heck, they'd be lucky if more than 2 people are playing the game at the same time :/

Yeah, I'm still peeved about the nerfing of an already pointless profession ie: entertainers, so feel obliged to rant and rave a bit.
