Anyone else noticed that the contest/giveaway on the front page requires you to be a premium member? So if your not a premium member, that requires you to purchase a premium membership.

Hmm... wouldn't that be illegal?

Anyone else ever notice, that no where, at least that I could find, can you find a physical address or phone number for allakhazam, which is a requirement to report someone to a better business beaureau (sp?). Also interesting.

See how long this post sticks around...

There is nothing illegal about it. It allows current members to participate. Besides, Alla himself is a lawyer, try that legality crap with him.

I'm willing to bet he knows it's legal.

ya, but its not really requiring you to buy the membership, its just a contest for CURRENT members. It isnt like lunchables saying, "Hey we've got 1,000,000 dollars to give away, but you have to run out and buy a lunchable to do it!" Its like a country club drawing, as whoever said it said, the CURRENT members have a shot at it, a random passer by, doesnt.

tard, perfect...

I think you mean to accuse me of being cheap, not lazy, asshat.

I should know better than to try to have a conversation with the average poster here. What's up to the people that post here with an IQ higher than a door knob.

ya, this is another attention-grabber, just let this thread die.

And actually to have a contest for members is not illegal. Member based promotions and special offers is 100% legal in the eyes of the law. You need to either go back to a better law school or stfu and not post about things you do not know.

Actually, i kind of see his point. I'm not saying he is right but its a honest misunderstanding. I'm no lawyer at all (i just install car audio equipment for a living) so I cant get into all that legal hog wash.

But I think its like, for example, pepsi giving away 1 million dollars. You have to BUY the pepsi to be eligible but on the can that you BOUGHT it says no purchase necceasry. You know, something like that.

I think.

Oh no, rate me into oblivion, LOL, ****** geek!

My understanding is that you can not hold a contest that requires a purchase. A contest on a pepsi can, or at McDonalds, doesn't matter. If your ever bored while eating your big mac during a monopoly game, read the fine print. You can mail them and request a free game piece. Although technically that requires you to purchase a stamp though huh?

The comparison was made between a private club. That's understood, if a group of people in a club house are advertising a contest for it's members, that's one thing, but when it's advertised on the main page of a public web site, that seems a little different. Kind of like if McDonalds next monopoly game had big signs in the window advertising corvettes and cash prizes, but then you found out you had to be a member and pay a yearly fee. Maybe they'd include you though Darkandsinfull, seeing as how your probably still a member of the Ronny McD B-Day club. Why do I picture you as Special Ed from Crank Yankers, Yaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!

I own a business, and from my understanding in the past having run promotions, you can not in any way require a purchase for a chance of winning.

I was curious, and posted, what the *** was I thinking trying to get an actual intelligent response from this community.

I don't go, never did go to law school, that's why I asked *** stick.

LMFAO at *** hat #2, til we rate you into oblivion.... You guys are almost as tough as those big bullies in the assylum.

...quivers...

Yes, I guess, but I suppose you would have to specifically request that exact game piece.

P.S. I want to borrow it for a cruise if it works for you, not holding breath. My dad has a phat 2k loaded vette, I'll keep spinning his until I hear from you, GL on that Syph

I would take out all the stuff i put in it. Beat it up with a baseball bat real good. Move to Los Angeles. And Go on pimp my ride.

Then I'd have a real pimpala and a pimpvette with a million dollars left over =)

your not required to purchase anything to enter the contest. It's a promotionf or people who already purchased it. Therefore it's not illegal and the fact that members and non members do share some benifits including the opening page does make it illegal. Advertisment of any sort is in legal limits.

This is not a public website it is owned by the one who calls himself allakhazam. This is a privatly owned domain therefore he can do what he wants with it without legal remifications.

You are misinformed promotions can in fact require a purchase as in a lottery ticket which is a buisness Fitness clubs restaurants clubs. And being a world wide buisness on the internet there is a slight chance that allakhazam is a communist and is running this website out of russia where buisness laws where he is not bound by state and federal laws

by your theory of buying something to enter a contest being illegal.... that would make the lottery illegal, and almost all forms of gambling
