Great post, i hope alot of new players and some not so new players get some good ideas from this post.

One thing I might add is that healers and casters try to stay a ways back from tank and melees as it gives them a visual clue that you have pulled aggro and gives them a chance to re taunt the mob before it gets to you.

Wizards: More defensive than you think - always have bind(root) available on bar as well as the most defensive spell available for any class. Evacuation. Of course you need to have a hot key stating that you are about to evac so your healer has a chance to say NO its under control. Dont want to port everone out if you can keep alive.

First off, good job, Sin.

Couple of things I would add:

1.) If you have a set of instructions you need to give every new group, go ahead and make a hotkey to save time. ("When I say I'm ROOTING, everyone stop swinging and run a big circle, or we will all die!" "If we draw more than 3 mobs here, fall back to my position and I will evac us all." "If you want PoT, just hail me." etc.) Don't assume people know what to do. Unfortunately, many people have high-end characters without the least clue how to play them and it could get your group killed without clarification ahead of time.

2.) When orginizing how loot will be divided, be courteous and only pick one crafting style for right now. Unfortunately some people can only make money off gems and rares, especially when all the other drops are stackable. Don't start by saying, "The tank gets the stax, and I craft weapons, jewels, and armor, so I get all of those. You two can fight over the tailoring gems."

3.) Rogues (and it pains me to say this), you first concern should be as a DD, your second as a businessperson. Make sure your tank isn't suffering undue repairs costs because you're pickpocketing instead of crit-ing. I'm not saying stop picking pockets, just make sure the group finances don't suffer because the mob is getting in another 8 swings when he should've been dead already.

4.) If you have to ding-and-dash, please tell someone. (This was mentioned before but it bears repeating) Okay, we all do it at somepoint or another. We've all stayed up past our bedtime, or held off getting ready for work for ten minutes to ding. But I'm just amazed at how many people get a connection problem right after the amount of xp I earned dropped. Someone may be trying to do the same and all they need is another 4 kills before they ding and the whole group can disband and lead their separate lives.

5.) Conversely, don't guilt someone into staying in your group if you got a while before you reach your next milestone. If, you're 48 and you need one more yellow before your epic and someone needs to leave to go take the kids to the hospital or whatever, let them go. I've seen that last yellow sometimes take days. Same goes for your 1500th cm, that can take months, don't make them hang around if they need to make dinner.
*****PET PEEVE: If you're guilting everyone into staying because you got two more pinks before your path quest and you just absolutely need this today, TURN OFF YOUR CMs!!! That's just common courtesy and unfortunately I've been in many groups where I've earned a yellow in the amount of time it took the guy lower in level than me to ding with only a half pink to go.

Ultimately, common sense will get you through the video game. Courtesy will get you far in the society.

Aye aye. I hate guilt trips. I tell the group before hand how much tim i have and then when its time to go they all say "ughh" or "aw" or "really? sux". If i could stay i would. Couple pinks, ill stay unless my departure time is critical.

Just to reitterate, 3 pinks at higher levels is still a good amount of time. If you are close to ding you must evaluate how fast the xp was going before you ask someone to stay until you ding. 3-4 kills is almost certain that they will stay, but 20 is getting way too high.

Let me add a few things about CMing.

It's a bad idea to cm a lot just before you get your new taunt or heal or damage spell. For example, tanks get a new taunt at level 24. They should NOT cm a lot at 22 and 23. Much easier to hold aggro with the new 24 taunt and much safer for group. I seriously recommend 100% xp for 22 and 23. Then just cm the heck out of 24 and 25 and 26. And the same for succeeding levels.

Same for healers and dds. Do your major cming just after you get your new spells. They are the most effective when you get them because they will be new and high and the mobs will still be most of the same mobs you were just killing. This is better for yourself and group too.

Regards,
Ggbyron

You're right Byron.

Tanks: Don't CM Right before new Taunt
Healers: Not before New Heal
Batterys: Before New Mana-Buff.

The rest dont matter IMO.

i completley disagree. so the only time your telling us to cm is after we get all mana buffs???

My Refined Bard Opinion:

Batterys: CM or xp(does not matter) til you notice your mana buff is doing basically nothing then go to xp

i say this since you dont get a new mana song for 20 lvls so i wouldnt(not including mana path spells)like right now im grinding to 44 so i can get rhapsody which i hear is amazing. but this was my grinding cming schedule

1-20 pure grind cmed very little if any
20-25-cmed til i got (number of cm at the time-50)
25-30half and half mostly(number of cms at the time-80-90ish)
29-cmed to 200(cms at this point was 200)
29-35-this was my mad fast grind which i did in about 5 days
35-cmed to 300(current cms-304)
and im grinding now

Ok Sin, 2 things.
1) Bards can do about as much damage as a POORLY built ranger, because well built rangers can match Rogues in damage!
2) Never CM before a new spell line, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 29, and so on, not just before new taunt/heal/path.
Other than that NICE

I'll Add it In...
I Do agree about the spell line, i'll sugject that
as for the rangers, i've never had one past 10 but when i group they don't seem very strong.
I guess i will change it if they are that strong.
