Do the people here at this site plan on devoting time to SWG as much as they do to EQ, even when EQ2 comes out and WoW as well?

I would like to see this site maintained as promptly as the other "main stream" games even when these other titles come out

Just curious, I am happy with the latest updates and things like that.

if WoW looks good i might try it ... EQ2 F**k it i played EQ for 2 years and wow did i get hella bored... and EQ2 will have LESS to do in as does EQ... so why the heck would i do that... and other things new to EQ2 to see would be the graphics.. not worth the time and effort or the money.

I can't make updates any better than they are without more user participation. I have a family, another job, and working on WoW site as well. Going in game just to get info is hell, means I never get to play for enjoyment.

Each site has at least one admin working on it. I have been on SWG site since the game was in beta. My mailbox is periodically empty. However we don't have as many programmers as admins, thus less programming and specialty work is done to the lesser sites. ie daoc, swg, eqoa.

EQ gets the most attention due to it's age and it's still our most visited site (also with the most premium members). Due to SWG's famous randomness, the SWG database will never be like EQ's, but I add what I can. The searches are less likely since there is so much randomness. I document the quests as best I can, update mob info as often as possible, but right now SWG just isn't like other games. But times are a changin'.

Since we also have two new sites coming online, Wow and upcoming EQ2, the programmers are spread quite thin in programming new sites and trying to keep old ones running.

Next week will be a thin one, as Maia from DAoC site is moving and I am the only one qualified to do her job while she is away. I ran DAoC site for two years before moving over to SWG. They also just had an expansion go live today, which means her site needs some love.

Once new Jedi info is live, this site will get several days of intense loving. I had planned on doing the Jedi stuff today, only to wake up to no patch. Really crappy IMO that they wait until last minute to decide to put it off another week. Just a big tease and let down.

If it wasn't for Instigator's constant email stream, the updates would be really sad. Also Justene has been mailing me news stories as I don't have the time to go looking for them at this time.

I am a bit strapped but still take time to do the updates at least 4 days a week. And most times I have to spend the other three days a week scoping for the updated information. This site doesn't update itself :(

Sorry if I blabbed too long or incoherently, sick baby makes for tired mommy.

Darkflame does a great job considering what she has to work with! SWG is not the friendliest of games when it comes to info sites such as ours. Half the stuff you would normally look up is available in game, and the other half, well, that's a whole nother thread...

I'd like a more indepth character device like the one on FFXI, so I can post my armour, clothing, and weapons in an organized fassion.

Personally being a frequent EQ.Allakhazam looker i dont see much difference on this site Dark. i think its a great ability that these programmers and admin's have hence i do not have any of the abilities to do any of it...

I would like to know how but i am too unfortunate and have to wait for my poor college years.. only being 17....

I have great respect for you guys and all you have done with your sites... and you should have to shame in what you do and dont do...

Just because you cant get around to this site more often doesnt mean you dont do a good job... i would be happy if you guys would tell me how to do these kind of things but not everyone is so lucky...

I also would have a premie account on this site but i do not have to money to do it... I may have the money to play SWG but not the money to pay for Site premie...

So use your talent WHEN you have the time you do a great job in everything that i have seen on all these site's.

This can't be done as the stats on some of those items are unique to that particular item. It's rare that two items are identical unless made with a factory or a damn good crafter. But what happens when you pick up a weapon that was dropped but has same name as the crafted one, this poses a problem and the reason the character profile isn't as elaborate as the other game sites.

Unless SWG changes the randomness, which I have mentioned before is a problem, the likelihood of this occuring is minimal. Trust me I ask for stuff all the time and get told the reasons why it won't work -- then go, oh yeah I can see that now. I am not in any way programmy smart. I know some html and just diving into CSS and perl. I have a long way to go and can only make requests and hope at least one idea out of ten I propose gets a thumbs up. Then I have to wait for someone who is capable of writing the code for my wishes.

Thing I have been wanting forever is a quest search and faction database, so you can see that it comes down to what is best for the site, what is feasible and most useful, what can be programmed quickest, and who can do it.

I love my job and I have the pleaser gene to a fault. I try to please everyone and have a hard time saying no, that's where the bosses come in, to say no. They keep me grounded when I'm flighty and dreamy about what a site could or should be.

Admin Edit:
Changed a word because it didn't get my thought across correctly

We will always have at least one person permanantly assigned to work on this site. We just add more people as needed.

SWG is a pain in the butt, I agree with Darkflame whole heartedly on that.

With all the constant revamps and state of change, its hard to make fwd progress on new things when infact your always redoing the OLD things.

Generally I try to get you guys Maps and walkthroughs for the dungeon, as for the Deathwatch bunker, I simply must apologize my small team has been unable to crak that tough dungeon so I have been unable to provide you with the usually good quality walkthrough.

The JEDI revamp has been extensive btw, working along with those kind allakhazam members who submit info I was able to use a bit of influence to get on both the dark and Light Jedi councils on TC2.

Uploading 200+ MB of skill screen shots with full descriptions and the Force ranking system trees for both dark and light jedi councils and force progression right now.

Keep in mind SOE departed from the usual skill tree setup with the JEDI skills and force progression and Force ranking system, so we do need to pry a programmer our way to adjust the skill builder so everyone can have fun exploring various profession/jedi skill templates on our wonderful character builder.

Now, finally I just got rated 100% disabled by the VA so basically I cannot work for a pay check any longer, however I'll keep working with dark to try and get the best scoops I can get on all SWG stuff, (for example the force quest stuff of pub 10 or the JTL beta info when beta begins, I believe correspondents like me will be some of the first in game.)

So loving is here and still comming, its all the re-work that we must do to completely redo old information that hinders the advancement of new items (redoing every critter in the data base for an example.. huge job.. still cussing SOE for that!)

Keep the faith and we will keep on giving the love true believers!

you do what you can, and they've done wonders with this site. I frequent the SWG and FFXI forums a bit so I know how it goes. I've done webpage updates and minor code (emphasis on minor.. flash scripting at most) so I know what it's like and updating websites is tough particularly with games that are not as forthcoming with information.

remember, FFXI is at it's core a console game that's been made to work on a PC, it has LOTS of limits and these limits show up in the form of predictability.

Grass fungar > Poison Fungar > Exoray

they all look the same, challenge an Exoray at less than.. say.. 60th level or so and prepare to be owned, it's only the name that allows you to know one from the other.

SWG isn't quite so cut and dry. I think Allakhazam's devotion to SWG, FFXI, etc.. etc.. is great, but the games are different.. so the way that devotion shows up will be different.
