So now that the PS2 hard drive is out does anyone think that Sony will get around to releasing SWG on the PS2 like the had originally planned?

Obviously I can't say for sure but if they did it would have to be a completely different game similar to what they did with EQ online adventures.

SWG is built with a high graphics engine that is designed to last for a few years to come. This means that graphic aspects exist in the game that are tailored to PC's that don't even exist yet! This is apparent in the high terrain detail range and the shadow effects that exist in the game but which next to nobody can enable without suffering serious lag. Full volumetric shadows with full terrain detail exist for future graphic cards and higher CPU, so sorry, but no way can a PS2 come close to running the game as it exists now. It would have to be a different game or toned down version that would look so bad that it would be worthless to play.

You need higher graphics power, not just a hard drive.

SWG was supposed to be released on box but lucas arts decided to but a indefined delay on it so I don't think you'll ever be seeing it on playstation 2... maybe it will be on there next platform.

I've spoken about this before, Star wars galaxies won't be released on xbox, nor playstation. It is too complex by its controls, options, and there are too many selections that would out grow the game console's controlling. Live, and ps2 wouldn't work cause there aren't keyboards, Live has headsets but IT wouldn't do anything. Like if you decorate your house you have to move furniture, then you need fighting controls. Too many commands that won't makle it to consoles unless xbox, or PS2 comes out with a keyboard compatible for SWG, and a QWERTY board.

Both PS2 and xBox has USB QWERTY keyboards available for them from what I understand, as well as mice. Both units are basically repackaged PCs with a fancy name and very specialized purpose and OS.

Last time I checked, any USB keyboard will work with the PS2. Controls certainly aren't the issue.

No matter what, SWG is a too complicated game for the consoles. Playstation 2 is old, and xbox doesn't have the effort for it.

Sony's not going to produce a game for a rival machine anyways.

They're at least smart enough to not put out another horribly buggy product to **** off a whole new consumer base.
