Okay I may have my set of standards...but I think (to me atleast) SOE should switch back to the way you could toggle cuss words on and off...
I know there are children that play...and maybe it should be a password option for them to plug in that their children dont know...and to me that would be great..can be something like a 4 digit set of numbers...
Its just that it isnt a big issue to me...I am pretty grown up and can handle hearing them...Hell, I use em in my non-professional life..lol But I think they went overboard on some of the filtering...you cant say things like dong and scrape..lol
It use to be a choice whether you wanted to hear them..just let me have my choice back..lol Not a necessity...just would be nice..I dont need cuss words to survive by any means..but people get around them anyways...I have seen all types of spellings for different words...so its not really filtering anything at all...lol

I agree that they went overboard on the filtering. I was in a group the other nite and i attempted to tell them that my right analog stick was jammed down...well it filters out the word **** in the analog so the whole thing looked like "my right gaslhe stick is jammed..." if you use your imagination that sounds much worse than what i was trying to say. Also fo the lvl 10 (i think) delf mag quest you have to kill cockroaches off the bank of a river. well i had a level 49 helping me and when i hailed the roach it came up :~:Hail chidwhajutvatg , huh seems retty stupid that they would edit out a freakin mob in the game because it had the word **** in it. When i talk to my R/L friends in game i call them by their R/L names I really feel sorry for the ppl named Dic.k (well i had to edit my post here and put a . in dic.k because it was filtered, apparently this site is prejudice against people named dic.k too!) in the game and their R/L friend trys to type their name. Ontop of all that i used to have a hotkey with the phrase DING DONG in it, as in the ding dong a door bell makes...well that hot key is no more, apparently the devs hate the word dong aswell! Oh heaven forbid you try to talk about a rare ******* sword you got while farming...the reply you will get is, "thats awesome, but whats a nfdradg sword??" It seems as if it is becoming hard to have a normal conversation w/o having a word or two being filtered out, even if it is not a cuss word. I, for one, hope that the devs put in a filter option again like the game had in the begining. BUT i am totally fine with the main choice words being filtered permanantly...just not *******;)

I find it hilarious some of the stuff they filter, you can't say grapes? LOL ! I suppose that's for the reference to ********** What's so funny is that it's so easy to get around, if people want to swear, they will. A long time ago, I changed my hail to " %4 I'm going to kick you in the nnnuuuttts." (If in battle a obligatory kick or stomp always follows).
A point on this topic though I want to make. I have never been offended by swear words by any means, I was in the Navy for christ's sake ("Swear like a sailor"). But memo to kids, swearing does not make you cool or grown up. Holy crap, anyone else notice the tendency to, well, swear like a sailor? You can't say grapes because of the word rape is in it. Has anyone tried to hail Bogscraper for the troll quest? I think the filters have gotten way out of hand. They also have works that you can't have in your toon name. I tried to make a barb warrior named Redsonya because Redsonja was already taken and you can't have a name that has "sony" in it. You also can't have race names in your toons name. I tried Lawngnome just to see and it is an invalid name. I personally think the filters are totally pointless as all the filters are already being bypassed. I have noticed that they filter words that are a part of other words (ie: **** & rape) because they feel that they are offencive (sp) but you can say ****** and not get filtered that word isn't in any other word and is not appropriate for this game yet I have seen it shouted in fp.

I agree. There are a lot of adults that play this game as well. It would be nice for the parents to do the filtering for their children if they don't like it. But as others have pointed out, it doesn't even really work all that well. There are short cuts that peeps use everyday to get around this. they just take out a letter or replace it. The cus is still there. Before you know it, **** and shlt will be filtered too!!

I agree, you cant say any words containing the "filtered" ones, like rapel, or grape. That's just stupid. If you hail the quest mob in neriak "fungus cockroach" (which is plainly spelled out on the screen) you get Hail fungus xsdflkjsp! That's insane. They can type it but we cant repeat it. lmao
Its funny...this guy was talking about the filtering on the other forum and he was saying that his name was filtered....his name was Cumulus...like the clouds...yet when he showed up to others it looked something like xhyiksw LOL too funny...I dont get it...yeah the profanity filter was great...But that brings back the days of the first 23 quests and oh how loving everyone was and showed it by using their excellent use of cuss words..lol

I think the filter only hurt what they were trying to help. Instead of little kids seeing "You asd%sad@ sd*sd$ nbdywd%"...etc. (which they could ignore or wonder about and get no real answer)now they see the words spelled out how you pronounce them and the kids not only see them but can also say them as well. With the filter, people never bothered to go out of their way to spell a cuss word wrong...but now they do and everyone can see it. Before a kid would see "You wen@" or "You jajneunfd" but now they see "You dikk" and "You *******" which now the kids see it. TYVM EQ, now I can't let my 7-year old play without me staring at the screen the entire time and having to find places he can kill stuff w/o seeing any shouts. You didn't put a filter on...you actually took it off.
