Best encounters with deathknights so farFollow

#1 Nov 15 2008 at 2:24 PM Rating: Excellent
when you have an unusual encounter with a deathknight (if you are or are not the deathknight) then post it here.

for me..A boomkin decided to prove to me that he is better than deathkights and dueled me on the edge of a cliff. Sure enough he sent a wave after me shoving me over the edge. I saw it coming and death gripped him as soon as i went flying over. I hit the ground first and was left with 1 HP (because i was still dueling and you won't die in a duel). The duel ends and then he hits the ground and gets killed instantly. I listened to his angry whispers about griefing and how DKs were OP for a few seconds before sticking him on ignore.

edit: spelling > me

Wintergrasp, ally have the fortress and they think they're safe up on the top level and pew pew us from above. Deathknight buddies come along and pull those f*uckers off the edge and we laugh as they get gang banged. Not sure which I love more, them getting pulled down or our rogues shadowstepping up there.

[X]Shotted -V. Past tense. To be killed in [X] number of attacks.
Typically used by higher level noobs who are amazed that they can kill lower level noobs.

As a Boomkin myself I have to say that has to be the coolest thing I've ever heard. Brilliant work!

I dunno about PvP, but tonight I had the pleasure of having a DK tank for me for the first time.
Mind you, I was on my pally who is specced ret for levelling, and I tend to be a bit balls to the walls, which gets me gibbed from grabbing threat.
I couldn't do it. I could NOT grab threat off of this blood specced, quest reward wearing Deathknight. It was AWESOME tanking. Whenever I WOULD grab it, she'd Deathcoil or some odd move I don't know about until the mob was off of me quickly, she was always on top of her interrupts, it was just fluid.

My experiences with death knights is sadly just ganking a few out in Borean Tundra. I think I was in a group with one to get credit for the same quest mob too.

I liked the post I saw from Warchief Gutler, in DK Forum:

Quote:
One thing i find funny is with enough DK's around you can shut a person down quick by chain death griping. Case in point a lvl 70 gnome mage was ganking DKs in hellfire last night so we all ganged up on him and he couldnt get a spell off cause he was constantly flying all over the place.

Yay - Gnome Ping-Pong :D Seriously though, a few DK together could be serious trouble with that Smiley: laugh

Thats hilarious. Death Grip is pure win. I found myself casting it on melee-range mobs in the DK starter area just because I liked the spell animation :p

I havent had any epic runins with DK (yet). Had the displeasure of crossing paths with a party with at least 2 DK loitering around the portal to Azol Nerub last night. Got pulled away fromt he portal and quickly killed. When I rezzed at max distance from them, I was still far enough away from the portal that they nearly got me a 2nd time. I saw the purple flash as I zoned into the instance.

Death Grip made me laugh. While at a friends house, he started a DK just for fun. When in town seeing all the people crying out and screams of agony going out everywhere, we saw a DK run up to a house and Death Grip some poor soul right out of his front door. Made me laugh hysterically at the thought.

Actually, I had an interesting encounter the other day. I was grouped up with three guildies, all of us on DKs. There were a couple of other DKs killing the ghostly soldiers at the Honor Hold armory (where the knights, mages and footmen patrol). We went in, and as I went towards a mage, one of the other DKs pulled it to him and tagged it. I figured it might be an accident until he did it a second time a little later (I figure he had to wait for his cooldown to reset).

I ranted for a bit over Vent, and then the four of us followed him and Death Gripped any mob he was running at for the next few minutes. He ended up getting more frustrated than he made me. Smiley: laugh

Hmm...

Reading that gives me an idea - get a parachute cloak or what have you, then jump off a cliff near the opposing faction whilst death gripping them on the way. Enjoy your float down as the enemy falls to his death, that could be really entertaining!

I must admit, I found it hysterical to sneak up behind unsuspecting alliance players, and drawing them into to a vortex of death...grip. I can't help but think it'd be amusingly alarming to just be standing there and all of a sudden get whisked away out of the blue... good times!

**I do not condone ganking the helpless... but deathgrip is just too much fun to employ for only noble uses!

Does death grip take a player off a flying mount? So if I jump off my flying mount, use a parachute cloak...death grip an enemy player will that player be kicked off of their mount?

I know for sure it works on ground mounted people, so I would assume flying mounts as well.

I have one for you. Had been finishing out hellfire peninsula quests lines, and along the way had be getting griefed buy a group of about 4 horde dks pvp flagged. Never made the mistake of aoeing and flagging and giving them the satisfaction but them kill stealing and being annoying was getting on my nerves. Later i had finished hfp, and just got the first set of quests in zangar. Standing in the inn about to log who comes in alone still flagged but one of the griefers . I cant help my self i hit death and decay load up dis's and take her out. Ive never enjoyed getting my butt whipped by guards so much ever. oh yeah i know my spelling and punctuation is horrible

just had another fun experience in AB. I was at the LM with a fire mage and we got attacked by a rogue and warrior. We get the rogue to ~10% and then both enemies are right on the edge of the cliff. The mage blast waves them off but I use death grip on the rogue to drag him back up and kill him with a critical heart strike :)
