Addiction much? My opinion.Follow

Yes, I'm talking about addiction and WoW.

It's been done before, but I want to hear it.

Nothing keeps me from playing or not playing - I play it because I play it.

Having studied, well, everything - I realize this game is made to produce action/reaction, addictive, susceptible to manipulation and emotional reactions people made to basically be turned into the grown humans you would likely see in The Matrix being grown and used for whichever purpose be it energy, or, perhaps, as easy as it would be and as obvious as it is to all of you but don't have the guts to admit: A cult-like mindset with an end game plan of control.

I play this game so I can have the foresight to see every form of action/reaction, obsession, addiction, and emotional reaction so I can remember how I used to be. That's right, think what you may - this game is a factory made to turn people into festering viruses wanting to heighten their desire to be uncontrollable control freaks. It attracts people who are susceptible and wanting to somehow vent in ways they can't do directly by twisting emotional and belief manipulation/conditioning with technology and ********* of money and brilliant minds who believe programming language is their will and can turn this planet into a giant ball of robots governed by pushbutton geniuses.

Make no mistake, I ******* love this game. I am so above it's intentions that it actually convinces me to play it even though it is a giant waste of everything humanity was ever conceived for.

This game is by far the biggest teacher of addiction this planet has ever seen. Every action and every feel of flow this game has is a giant followup of "If I don't get this done I will fail." one after the other and we keep doing it over and over again.

Teh energizer bunneh keeps going round and round.

I keep wondering if I am playing with people or bots when I log on. I seriously do. For real. How can people entertain such a contraption?

Since Blizzard has made games, they've had followers. The we're very grateful followers, apparently, but, obviously if you read their mission statement and had a brain, or, a soul rather, you would not play this game.

There is no purpose but to encourage waste in this game. Waste of intellect, time, energy, will and a cornucopia of other things. Things like this give us humans the label "virus".

I'm going to log on now, bye.

While I appreciate the Wachowski brothers plot rehash, I'm afraid yours lacks Keanu Reeves. And also sense.

I always saw stuff like ZAM and FAP as more of resistance movements then cults. But either way... Smiley: lol

I'll be honest, I thought the OP was going to refer to this Cracked.com article, which is actually a good read if you like Cracked's writing style. Probably NSFW, due to language and ads.

That's right, the one that had a link to the boobie article.

Which reminds me, one of our single in-game friends admitted the other day he turned down some no-strings-attached boobies because the guild needed him for a raid.

He then asked my wife if she though he was addicted to WoW... Smiley: facepalm

Just bewbies, or a full-blown booty-call? Details pl0x, and pics if you have them.

I didn't catch all the details, but from what I gathered the tank he had take his place never showed; so he called off the meet and greet. Poor guy has his priorities a little messed up. Smiley: rolleyes

Unfortunately I have no details on the attractiveness of the booty.

This is not relevant to my interest. :D

@ OP

Old news is... not exactly news, is it?

@ WoW
You are doing your best to loosen your addictive grip on me. Thanks :)

Mercifully, OP seems to be unaware of Facebook/QQ games such as Farmville/Happy Farms. Complaining about WoW and addiction in the presence of games that actively nag your social networking contacts is about like accusing Juicy Fruit of being a gateway drug.

Not necessarily. If the guy had gotten laid several times in the previous few days and has little problem getting it regularly, then I wouldn't necessarily say his priorities are messed up. Especially since it was no strings attached style. Not like he has to worry about damaging his relationship with the girl(as long as he had an excuse better than "The guild needs me!" Smiley: laugh).
