I was curious as to what the Zam community has planned for Dec. 7th. Are you the person that will be in line at 6 a.m. Nov. 15th? Or are you not in any big hurry?

As for me I have a bowling league that gets done around 8-9 p.m. my time. From there a friend and I are going to head straight to our closest Gamestop and wait for midnight.

I won't be going to Gamestop at midnight, but I have put in a vacation request starting the 7th.

I don't quite understand the whole thing...

1. I got Wrath at Best Buy the day of launch on my lunch break. No one was there and there were tons of copies in stock.

2. Vacation - If you want to take time, that's cool, go for it. But why day 1? I just feel like it will be crashy and buggy. I'd wait until Wednesday of the week following. (Tues would be the first Maintenance)

*Edit: Oh, I have no idea what I plan on doing. I'm not sure if I want to be a Main as a Tank, DPS, or Healer for this expac. One thing I do know is I hated playing a druid. So of my 4 80s - I'm not sure if Paly, Mage, or Priest will take the lead this time around.

I'll most likely pre-order the game and get it on launch day. Even if I wanted to, there aren't a lot of 'midnight openings' over here I could stand in line for, unless I could be bothered taking the train all the way over to Amsterdam, which I can't.

Trying my best NOT to get it the day it comes out. Frustration with tons of lag, bugs, and downtime might ruin it for me :-(

I preordered the CE from Amazon so if that arrives in time, I will probably pick up copies for my other accounts the next day or so. If the CE hasn't arrived then I might pick up copies of the expansion on my way home from work on release day. I'm still not sure whether I want to put the CE on my original account that has my other CE's on it or on my main's account instead.

I'm not planning on taking time off from work for the expansion especially because my server is high pop and tends to get queues right after an expansion so I'll probably be playing on my alt server for a bit until things settle down and the main bugs get taken care of.

I'll be avoiding the game for a couple of days likely. Though I see myself breaking down and buying it by the weekend.

I just want to avoid the orgy of people and bugs invading every 80-82 zone in the game. Not fun to get any of that on you... Smiley: tongue

I'll just download it. I'm not taking any vacation though, and work is going to be very busy around that time, so I won't likely get much playtime in.

Well recently got out of a relationship and university goes on xmas break on the 9th of december, so I am probably going to pre-order and line up for it. Play til I'm tired and then go between studying and leveling, nothing bad can come of that right?

I'm going to the midnight release this time because I'm kind of curious to see what the crowd is like in my area.

We're taking a couple of days off so we can play and just generally goof off while the kids are in school. We took the day Wrath came out off and had no problems playing whatsoever. I don't recall so much as a single DC.

And yes, because I am that nerdy, I'm sure I will make WoW themed food. Wintertime calls for a pot of northern stew with moist cornbread and a nice Dalaran red, maybe some delicious chocolate cake or homemade cherry pie for dessert. But who knows, maybe I'll mix it up and do carrion surprise and goretusk liver pie or something.

Speaking from experience with TBC and WotLK, there's next to no problems with server stability outside of having queues. At least, I haven't run into any on release day.

It's not that I think it will be bad or that I have had past experiences with it being bad...

It's more of a risk/reward thing. If there are problems it's Dec 7th - what can I do? If it were summer time there'd be loads to do as an alternative. I just know I'd be really pissed if I burned 2, 3, 4 days of Vacation and the entire thing was down. I'd be just as pissed if I took a week off to go to the beach and it rained...

The most likely time for problems is at/around launch. I plan on loading and playing that day, but if I'm gonna burn a Vacation day... I'll wait a week to get the max out of my free time.

I'd watch hockey or ESPN all day if there are problems with release.

Then again, I work from home and have plenty of work to do, so it's not really an issue for me.

I dunno, if there are problems, watch a movie? Use your day off to relax? Go Christmas shopping before it gets too crowded?

I'll probably buy it that day, if I know myself well enough. I'll install it, try to play it, realize that all my addons are borked, like they are now, and wait two or three weeks for them to get updated before doing anything major.

Might start leveling up some characters, though. It's doable without crutches and training wheels.

Most addons will require a simple update, as authors are already working in beta to fix them (I know on wowinterface, all addon authors got a beta invite if their addon was uploaded to the site and was a substantial addon, not just a compilation UI).

If you get your addons from wowinterface, all it should take on the 7th is running the MMOUI Minion, as it did on 4.0.1 patch day.

Yeah, but there'll always be some change that has to be hotfixed, and then another patch that breaks something in the UI. But thanks for supporting my descent into another two years of internet addiction. I love you too, Theo. Smiley: bah

I went to a midnight release for wrath but only because I didn't have work the next day. Unless that happens again I'll probably just pick it up during the day and install when I get home.

Once I actually get to log in (I predict 20+ minute login queues for the fist week or so) it'll be a tossup between going through the Worgen starting zone and leveling my warlock or hunter (my other 80s will probably stay there for a while.)

Just so happens that my end-of-year vacation time lands on release date and plans for a family reunion this year have been scrapped due to conflicting schedules. So guess I'll be able to get in some game time in right off the bat.

I got TBC about a month or so after release and Wrath on release day. What I've learned is that it's best if you level ahead of the curve. The first couple of weeks a lot of players will be pushing to 85 and looking for all the same quest items/mobs. If you can manage to stay ahead of the bulk of players, you can avoid the "mob-dirth" / "waiting for item spawns", etc kinda stuff fairly well. Specifically I'm thinking of things like the berries in Coldara. My first toon did that quest in maybe 10 min (ahead of the curve) while my second it took like an hour (many other players after the same stuff).

And if history is any guide, I'll head down to my local merchant early on release day thinking "I should save a few bucks and not get the Collectors Edition. Hell, it's really just a pet." But at the store I'll formulate some thin rationalization and get the damn CE box anyway.

Questing isn't too bad to do without addons but most will likely be working(ish) anyway. At least the really important ones seem to be on pace to be ready for release (bar mods, unit frames, etc).

I've thought about changing my off day that week from Monday to Tuesday. Then calling in Wednesday and Thursday to play it. Haven't made up my mind yet.

I'll probably do the digital download but maybe I'll swing by best buy just to see if theres copies available. Leveling wise, going to work on the paladin first, with the changes I'm even debating leveling as holy since I can do some OK damage on mobs now. Mana cost of exorcism spam is high though, so if I have too much downtime I'll just switch to ret. I'm excited for the new arena season to start and I want to be 85 ready to roll when it launches. No real vacation plans though, I'll just level at my own pace, probably 2-3 weeks to 85, if I miss a week or 2 of arena so be it.

I missed the Wrath release by a few weeks because of work, then i had a hell of a time getting hold of a copy. I'm gonna preorder at a brick and mortar store then walk down in the morning of release day and pick it up. Then i'll grab a six-pack and some takeaway from this amazing chinese place by the railway station and spend all day leveling my pally! And trying out the new starting zones and stuff i guess.
