I don't know for sure but i believe the banning was a automated process if enough people report you in a given time frame you are automatically given a temporary ban until a GM can review the issue.

I had a mammoth sitter constantly parking himself on my fishing bobber so I couldn't click it. Horde toon as always...

While we're on it, hordies, seriously! Find something else to do than harrass to low levels by camping all the quest NPC's. Cripes, it's like these guys WANT Bliz to bring back dishonorable kills.

Q. Players are standing on top of key quest NPCs and I'm unable to reach them. What can I do?
A. If you're finding it difficult to click on a specific NPC, the best course of action is to enable name plates by pressing Ctrl-V or zoom in your character's camera all the way. This will give you a different in-game perspective and should allow you to click on the NPC's name plate or its model without other characters or their mounts completely blocking access: [link=bliz article]http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/24589[/link]

If you feel that any players are intentionally attempting to detract from the experience of others, then you may wish to contact in-game support.

Just sayin...

Like I said, physical harassment. If someone's camping enemy NPCs on a PvP server, this isn't reportable, since Blizzard's stance is that you can solve it by using in-game mechanics (ie. killing the offender).

I didn't say he shouldn't be punished, I just said I don't see how this is such a big fuss that he should get perma-banned.

It's because of the other part of what you quoted.

They don't like people who intentionally try to ruin the game. It's like that player is sabotaging their product. Subscribers dont like it, devs don't like it, bean counters don't like it, and the TOS/EULA allows Blizz to ban them.

The exception to the rule is that on a PvP server if someone from the opposite faction is "griefing you" he is the enemy and should be killing you and you should just kill him. But if it's someone from your own faction then it is griefing.

C'mon now, farts will always be funny!

On a camping trip a couple of months ago I told a friend that I liked **** jokes, and later by the river he picked up a rock and wrote "****" on it and showed it to me. I started laughing and then felt kind of stupid, but I couldn't help it. Farts are always funny.

For some reason, when people are exposed to horrible smells and respond to it, it makes me laugh. The more dramatically they react, the more I laugh. Though it only works if I'm exposed to it as well. Yeah, I know, it's crappy humor (no pun intended).

Should have seen me when I was driving home one late evening with some friends. Someone had stepped in some dog droppings, but no one noticed, because it was winter and the stuff froze before we got into the car. Once inside, though, it slowly thawed and gave off more and more stench. We were on the freeway, with 30 minutes to go before the next stop, and I was laughing so hard, tears just poured down my cheeks and I got cramps in my stomach.

Funny thing is, I'm horribly self-conscious with regards to flatulence and such, and would never dream of letting one rip in public, so usually I'm not the one starting it all. I'm just the only one crying from laughter and not from the stench.

Good times.

That reminds me of rogue that spent his afternoon killing off the auctioneers in Stormwind and remain hidden until they respawned then kill them again. Wouldn't have been a big deal if he was doing that to provoke people into attacking but he was doing that to pull a **** move. Just like the guy on the mammoth. I watched him do it around five times before my Queue popped and when I came back he was no where to be found. Before the Queue popped I made sure to inform everyone in general chat who the rogue was, how to spell his name (had a ê in it), and to open a ticket to punish said person for their behavior.

While a perma-ban for this rogue and the person on the mammoth would be a fairly harsh punishment (under the assumption that it was a first time offense) a 72 hour ban seems more than reasonable.

Since he's in a city and is automatically flagged I believe this falls under PVP rules so it's not against the rules as griefing. It's a **** move, but any 80 toon around can kill him to stop him.

People grief because they care more about ruining other people's day more then they care about the game - when someone reaches that level of play then it doesn't matter what number time it is - perma ban him and be done with it. The griefer isn't going to reform just because a GM scolded him - at best he'll find more subtle ways to grief, at worse he just keeps it up until enough people report him and a GM who cares enough to ban him smacks him with the ban stick.

On PvP servers you can get away with doing that because it's a PvP server. The guys killing the NPCs should be killing you and you should be killing them.

On PvE servers the PvE public has the "right" to play without being forced to PvP and without having to resort to PvP to solve anything... unless they are flagged for PvP for any reason, in that case they're asking for it and it's going to come to them. Unless they look like pwnbait... in that case they get much less.

sure he didn't just camp and you spelled his name wrong? Or maybe he has one of those weird things in his name? Because of people like this I figure we won't be able to stay on flying mounts in regular cities after a month or 2 of release.

I really hope they'll remove the ability to use flying mounts inside cities. Tauren on dragons just take up so much freakin' space. It's bad enough when they're sitting on the mailbox with their mammoth.

To quote Merinna, a beta blogger: "The first time that somebody parks his dragon inside the AH is the first time my head will explode from disgust."

I imagine it will remain like it is now, that you automatically dismount when entering a building.

It doesn't matter what server you are on because when you are flagged you go under PVP rules. Like I said, anyone could have stopped him so they won't do anything. He was having fun under the rules set out by Blizzard. Otherwise they wouldn't auto flag you in opposing cities.

Not true. Killing questgivers in lowbie zones flags you on a PvE server and you can be damn sure you do that long enough to get reported and caught you'll get smacked down by a GM. The GM's usually won't do anything if you only kill something once or twice, but if you're there for a long time being a pest, you'll get smacked.

Not to mention it sounds like the griefer was of the same faction as everyone, so nobody could have done anything to him.
