Stupid *&^!@ing Healer!Follow

Yeah. That was me last night.

The back story is weak, but for some reason I found it funny / pathetic enough to share. Last night, a guildie asked me if I wanted to do a couple of heroics with him. He's a Ret paladin, and I'm a Shadow priest. I agreed, and we queued while we did our own thing. We got a queue fairly quickly, and got in to a ToC. The tank was a feral druid, who admitted they hadn't played in several months. There was also a shaman healer and a mage. We ran through the jousting part without too much event, and moved on to fighting the champions.

They made short work of us. The healer couldn't keep up the tank, and the mage pulled as much aggro as possible by opening with Mirror Image and Arcane Blast as soon as the druid ran towards the mobs. The mage and shaman dropped group with nary a word, and the druid apologised and left. Fine, my friend and I could just re-queue.

I was surprised that we got a group almost instantly. This time, it was a warrior, DK and priest. I thought, "Great! At least we don't have to joust." We started, and the warrior's health started dropping like a stone. "Where are the heals?" I thought. That's when I noticed that the other priest was in Shadowform too. WTF!?

It was a very fast wipe. I looked at the party makeup and saw, to my absolute horror, a little cross by my name. I was certain that I had only selected DPS as my role for the original queue, but I guess when we re-queued, the LFG interface reset, and I queued as "Healer or DPS". For some reason I'd neglected to check it with the new queue. I felt like a complete ***. Tank dropped group, and I basically said, "Sorry- I didn't queue originally as healer. Let me change spec."

The long and short of it was that the other accepted my sideways apology, and the DK changed to tank. He got to practice tanking while I did one of my first dedicated healing roles in a heroic. Nobody died after that!

I still feel like a complete doofus though.

Okay, I feel bad, but... I laughed. Sorry.

Just the image of two priests in shadowform looking sideways at one another while the tank's health drops. Smiley: lol

I've done the same a couple of times. I see the tank start dropping and no heals are being tossed around, I look around and notice the healer is also in Cat Form and that's when I start looking for the color coding (my UI replaces the tank/heal/DPS icons with colored dots).

Half the time it's me in the wrong spec and half the time it's the other DPS in the wrong spec.

I've had a guy who signed up as healer and tank and thought he was the tank. It was a baffling moment, watching a Warrior and Druid charge each their mob and then almost simultaneously ask "Who's healing?". Good times.

I've done this on the very rare event that I actually get picked to heal. 99% of the time I'm a tank, so I don't even really watch. Fortunately my gear is good enough to survive most pulls without heals given somewhat competent dps, so after a pull I realized and quickly respecced.

I've forgotten to respec back to disc and reached for spells that were not there, or wondered why my shields had a cooldown. After that I defined a power aura that puts a gigantic purple ring around me when out of combat and in shadow spec.

Nah, just don't queue as a healer while specced Shadow :p (honestly, I can't remember the last time I queued as Healer/DPS and got a dungeon as the latter)

Hopefully the answer was the Druid. I know heroics are lolez nowadays, but I don't think bandages alone are going to pull a group through.

Funny story, though, Wondroustremor.

Smiley: rolleyes I don't think they were asking each other. Both thought they were tanking and both wanted to know who the healer was. The healer, coincidentally, turned out to be me, being the only other player in the group capable of healing. Luckily my Shaman is Elemental/Restoration spec'd, so it was no biggie.

Druid respec'd Resto after the first pull.

I did this a while back on Ahune. At the time I was doing a lot of HC's with my resto druid so I just automatically ticked healer without realiseing it. We start I glance at the group and see 3 other dps symbols, quick oh **** moment and then healed it as ret. Thank god Ahune is easy to heal.

I was healing ToC while watching TV. We were jousting, anbd I wasn't paying attention(basically holding mouse running in circles and spamming my 1 and 4 buttons while looking at the TV).

Well apparently we cleared the jousting, and I was getting into the show, tank pulls and the party wipes because I didn't heal any of them.

"Oops I DCed"
"But you kept spamming Holy Nova over there"
"Was I? Oh that must have been some visual glitch while I was logging back on, like running in place."

I felt kind of bad about it lol.

It happens - my gal got a new UI for her priest for healing and decided to join me for random heroics without informing me that she hadn't learned how to use it yet - nothing like wiping three or four times in a row on the first pull with her cussing a blue streak in RL and apologizing like mad to the group.

For my part I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out why my health and aggro were so crappy with my feral tank for a heroic run until I finally needed to hit a CD, saw it wasn't there and realized that I was in my dps and not tank spec (I was rocking recount though with 45% of total party damage - thank god it was a cake heroic though).

Not quite the same theme but still a brilliant snafu, my rogue accidentally ate Stormchops instead of normal stat food and while stealthing up to a group of mobs to see what they had in their pockets while the party was healing/drinking/afk, the @#$% food proc'd on one of them granting us a very funny insta-wipe (funny in that the shammy started screaming "how the @#$% did you cast a lightning bolt and WHY?!?!?" - ah, when old school toys and new school players collide).

I remember getting a heroic on my druid, Drak'Tharon Keep.
And that place is a place I try to tank as fast as I can, generally backpedalling through most of the instance and swiping to pick up anything along the way.

So I entered, saw a DK with 25k hp, a priest, a shaman with a lot of mana and a rogue.
I buff and change to bearform, charge the first mob, turn around and start backpedalling through the hallway towards the stairs.
By the time I reach the stairs I notice my health getting low so I pop barkskin and figure the healer must've been behind to loot or something.

And then I saw lightning, lava and shadow flying towards the mobs as my HP continued to drop. Along with a DK who looked rather lost and was a bit behind.
I figured that since the priest was in shadowform the shaman must be the healer, but he's still throwing lightning at the mobs... can't the idiot see that I'm at 30% health now?
The shaman continued to dps and the DK continued to stand at the back doing nothing while I popped all my cooldowns and started praying.
In the end though, the mobs died with only the rogue dying and while I'm relieved I'm also quite frustrated at the DK and shaman failing miserably.
So as I shout and ask why in god's name I didn't get healed and why that @#%^ing DK was AFKing the DK says something for the first time.

"Euhm dude... I'm the tank, you're the healer"

Oh.. sh*t. I completely forgot that I queued as tank and healer a week or two earlier to try out my resto spec and gear. I never got picked as a healer for any instance and I forgot about the healer part.
Luckily the priest had a healing spec and half decent gear as the DK was wearing some dps blues and pvp gear to become uncrittable so he wouldn't have stood a chance vs any of the dps (who were all above 5k dps).
Although the DK did protest a bit that he wasn't tanking and that he didn't have dps gear or a dps spec, until someone pointed out to him that he'd get his emblems three times as fast now.

Seems like this thread is rubbing off on me.

I signed up for a heroic as tank and healer, got into an AN in progress, realized I was still wearing my healing gear, was unable to run or port back out and my Hearthstone was on cooldown. I was in Bear Form, so no one could see my gear, except if they inspected me, so I ran in and pulled Anub.

Despite having 30k health less than usual, no hit rating or expertise and about 30% less dodge and crit rating than in my tanking gear, not to mention far from half the attack power, we actually killed Anub without issues. Afterwards the healer complained a bit about my low health pool, so I switched out of Bear Form and told them what was up. The healer responded with "Wait, what?" and then I left.

I think they're still standing in AN, wondering what the hell just happened.

I had a somewhat amusing experience with a healer. Queued for H HoR on my Rogue ( after the damn leather boots which NEVER drop ) and did a quick check of the other group members; saw that the Druid was in Feral gear and assumed he was tanking.

First pull, and I'm kind of not paying much attention, so throw tricks on the Druid. Mistake. Druid was our healer, and was throwing HoT's like mad, thus got even more aggro from tricks, and we wiped. He asks me in a whisper what the hell I am doing. Finally realizing my mistake, I apologize to the group. I tell the group in party that it won't happen again. The tank ( DK ) whispers me " Dude, do it again! That was funny as hell!"

That's what I get for being distracted, and not paying attention, although, it was kind of amusing, in a way.

This has actually happened to me before. When I'm running with my guildies I go tank/healer so that I can help other people learn how to heal and not monopolize the position. I decided once to get my daily heroic out of the way as soon as I logged in instead of waiting for others in my guild to get on or get unbusy.

My main spec is healing, and usually when I'm doing heroics on my own I just queue in as heals. My mistake.

We got H HoR, and someone started it up, and I was really confused because I couldn't find the tank icon next to anyone's name (I never look at my own because I figure I'm always healing alone and tanking with guildies).

After a wipe the druid was like, "Um.. dude, you're queued as a tank." And so I looked up, and sure enough I was. I apologized, and I had to drop group because my tank gear is not even close enough to decent for HoR. I felt really bad about it.

It's also happened when a druid was in tree form while I was healing and he was supposed to be DPSing in HoR, and didn't realize that he was supposed to and so things died much slower, and even though we had a ton of heals we couldn't get it done because there wasn't enough DPS. Eventually I told him and he was like "Oh, yeah my bad I always get heals in queue." And he dropped group.
