Well, after 4 years of trying to make it work, my guild is in the process of deciding to move. We're on Faildressil (name changed to protect the innocent). Pugs struggle to get Ony10 down, our raiding environment stinks, alliance rarely controls WG (despite the server being practically even of not alliance favored), and trade chat can make a sailor blush.

So we're in the process of finding a new server. The idea is that as a casual guild it helps to have a server where there is a reasonable pool of pugs that have some idea of what they are doing (our pugs fail at Ulduar 10...still). Going into Cataclysm we want to start out ahead. So the idea is we'll move before or soon after Cata's release.

The question I have is, besides saving up money, selling off mats, and stock piling needed supplies for leveling and selling, are any of you planning or already have moved servers in anticipation of Cataclysm? If so, why?

I attempted a move to Arthas (PvP), but that server is such **** for Alliance it's ridiculous. They own WG on Tuesday only, and the rest of the time you have morons trying to faceroll in PvP.

To contrast that to the server I've been playing on for a while now (Draka), it's a PvE server but there are quite a few good PvPers there. The guild atmosphere is good, and PuGs are decent at the minimum.

It's about 3/2 in terms of how often WG is controlled by Alliance/Horde; fairly even. For every 2 times Horde controls it, Alliance will have it 3 times. No idea how the balance is, but I've not seen Tenacity in 3 weeks of being back.

I moved back after 3 days on Arthas; it's a god-awful server.

On Malygos, the pugs are doing ICC 25 and the alliance wins WG 99% of the time and AV about 60-70% of the time. We absolutely stink at the other bgs though. I like my server, wish there were gdkp runs.

I'd be lying if I said I never considered leaving Stormfail for greener pastures. We have a couple decent guilds (one horde and one alliance) that do okay on progression, but 0 Light of Dawns so far. My guild is #6 on the server at 10/12H ICC 25 (and 11/12H ICC10), we have 4 guilds at 11/12H 25. That and while raiding on a PST server was great during college when I hate late-morning classes it isn't as nice anymore when I have to get up before 7AM EST after finishing at 1-2AM EST.

US-Borean Tundra is still a very new server (only a 18 months old), but raiding isn't too bad. There is the standard wretched Trade chat (Pokemon spam FTL), and the server is about 3-4:1 Alliance/Horde. Alliance holds WG about 2/3 of the time. You can usually PUG ICC25 at least 8/12 (not sure about Heroic--haven't run that yet myself).

Unless things have changed dramatically (and you're Horde)--DON'T switch to Silver Hand! Before I switched servers, it was almost impossible to get a group together there Horde-side. I don't know how it is for Alliance there, tho.

I plan on getting realm first 85, so I moved to a PvE realm. My old PvP server was overpopulated with horde so it wouldn't be very fun attempting it there.

Borean is another realm I've been considering. Right now I'm trying out Medivh. I wouldn't mind a balanced realm either. Just not one that's terribly imbalanced against the Alliance.

I wish pokemon spam was the worst we had to deal with.

Muradin isn't bad. I play Alliance, and we have WG about 40% of the time, more if people work together, which happens sometimes. the PuG atmosphere isn't bad. It is usually, from what I've seen, guilds that need 2-3 more people for a run rather than a full PuG.

I've got some friends who play US - Kel'thuzad Alliance and do most everything in a pug environment, and fairly successfully at that.

My server is terrible. Plus its out of the Boston data center so from the west coast I get latency of like 200-300ms. Alliance outnumber Horde like 5-1. (I'm Horde) Half the Horde left for alliance guilds when factions transfers came up making it even worse. So the talent pool Horde side is concentrated into like 1 decent guild that starts to early for me because of work.

So yeah back when Aeth posted the speedtest thread I started thinking alot of switching to a west coast Data center on a balanced or Horde dominated server.

It's tough though, I been on the same crappy low-medium pop server for so long I made allot of friend's and they make it fun to slum at least.

Laughing skull is decent, it has a fairly significant horde bias in terms of population, but there are a lot of pretty solid alliance guilds, including Deus Vox so that keeps things in check. At first it seemed like we'd usually swap WG, but I haven't been paying attention to that lately. We get queues when new content is released but not aside from that.
